You didn’t review the movie, you vented.

“More gore than lore” sounds clever until you admit the film actually fixes a major complaint from the first one. So which is it? Did they ignore fans, or did they listen? You’re arguing both sides and calling it criticism.

The timeline complaint doesn’t hold up either. Mortal Kombat has never had clean continuity. The games themselves constantly retcon and reboot. MK9 rewrote everything. NRS doubled down with multiverse storytelling that already shattered any idea of a single canon. Expecting a Hollywood adaptation to suddenly play by strict Midway-era rules makes no sense.

And let’s be real about expectations. After the first film, we already knew this series was not going to be 100 percent lore faithful. So why walk into the sequel acting shocked? That’s on you, not the movie.

Calling it a “bore” while admitting it delivers fatalities, resolves prior issues, and pushes the story forward is also contradictory. If that still does nothing for you, maybe the issue isn’t the film.

Also, the whole “this is Warner Bros’ house and we’re their bxtches” angle isn’t analysis. That’s just frustration that the movie didn’t match your personal version of the story.

And here’s the part that really undercuts your rant. A long-time MK fan I know, someone who has been brutally critical of the franchise for years, actually praised this film. I trust that kind of consistency a lot more than a reaction that reads like pure outrage.

Finally, the gatekeeping doesn’t help your case. “I led a campaign,” “stop MK3,” all of that just sounds like ego. Mortal Kombat has lasted this long because it adapts and changes, not because it locks itself to one era of lore. Us old farts get to deal with it. We're not their primary demographic anymore. Sorry.

You don’t have to like the movie. But if you’re going to go this hard against it, at least be consistent and grounded instead of loud and all over the place.

Fuck! And I thought Star Wars fans were ridiculous. Watch Ed Boon sell this shit off to Disney because of people like you. If you want to be hard on the games, so be it. They deserve it. But you should know better with shit coming out of Hollywood. Don't pretend like the 1995 film got it all right. C'mon bro... you're smarter and better than this. You're not 10 anymore. Didn't you watch the trailers? That should have level-set your lore expectations from the get-go.

Even if after I watch MK2, and I am just as satisfied with the film as I was with 2021's... it's still better than SHITTY Conquest that royally butt-fucked the lore and 10,000 times better than Annihilation. Bring on MK3!
