what was wrong with MK:Anniahlation?
I was all set to post a big analysis of all the reasons why it sucked (I did this once before), but after watching that video I'm still trying to stop laughing.
*goes looking for that really old post. Turns up nothing*
Well this probably won't be as long, but I'll hit the key points that I remember.
* Special Effects: The first MK movie was CGI intensive. A lot of the CGI was merely to expand on the sets and make Shang's island look bigger than it was. In particular, special moves like Sub-Zero's freezing attacks and Scorpion's living harpoon were kept to a minimum and handled about as realistically as one could expect in a fantasy martial arts movie. For example, Sub-Zero required a great deal of concentration and time to generate his more powerful ice techniques.
In MKA they threw suspension of disbelief right out the window. Whoever decided that Shao Kahn needed a green shadow trailing him while he did his shoulder slam is an idiot. It's acceptable in a video game, but on-screen it looks ridiculous. Every special move in the movie was glammed up with the same degree of stupid.
The fully CGI Animality battle at the end was the last straw. Not even Godzilla ever looked this fake. Here's an idea; if you absolutely must have Animalities in the script, have Nightwolf send Liu on a mental/spiritual journey for a minute where he comes face to face with his spirit guide. It'd be an animal of some kind.
Or hey, if that's too mystical for you, then just have Nightwolf's pet wolf running alongside him. Or maybe Stryker has a K9 unit (oh right, he's not in this movie). Maybe someone throws a snake at someone else. Get creative with it.
Do anything, but don't have them actually turn into monsters and animals!! *smacks forehead*
* Costumes: Like that guy already said, I felt like I was watching Power Rangers. As if the costumes weren't already bad enough, the villains big introduction at the start has them all standing on a ridge striking poses like the Rangers.
Sheeva was hideous. They took an attractive woman, perma-fried her hair and molded it until it was a tribute to Elvis, stuck her in a hideous one-piece bodysuit, and made her hands completely disproportionate to the rest of her body thanks to some lousy shokan prosthetic hands.
Cast: Too many people were thrown in there without any proper introduction. Mileena, Baraka, Noob Saibot, Cyrax, Smoke, etc. etc. That, or they weren't used to any great effect. What exactly did Sheeva and Ermac contribute to the story again? Oh right. They showed up just in time to be killed.
Dialogue:
Sub-Zero: "You can't do this alone."
*sub-zero ditches Liu a moment later*
Basically... the whole movie was broken from the moment Raiden opened his mouth to narrate a recap of MK1.

i red every comment nd now i want to watch it nd look out 4 all that stuff!!! lol!! to me the whole film looked like some very lonely bored teenager with way too much time on their hands grabbed a video camera nd got a load of randomers together to see if they could act! if i was lookin 4 a comedy id definitly turn to that film 1st! now im going 2 go watch it! lol!!!
The problem is it sucks.(lol G.O.W. reference) The Special effects i disliked but what i hated the most is how much characters they put in and used horribly. Like Noob emerging from Ermac. That was weird and baraka get owned and you cant tell if that was really him or another tarkatan.

I swear, after reading that rant, I don't think I've laughed so hard in years.
..... Sheeva is HOT?
No, no, the actress that played Sheeva. You'd never guess from watching MKA though.

Dayum... not how I expected Marjean to look like at all.
Anywayz, I watched the movie like a week ago on youtube, and I have to say, people here are exaggurating about how bad the movie is. While it isnt absolutely amazing, its not totally horrible either.

1. Shao Kahn's gayest dive ever.
2. Johnny Cage's death.
3. Ive seen better costuming on japanese RPGs.
4. If i wanted to hear terrible dialouge, i would play the resident evil game.

First of all, them killing off Johnny Cage was the starting point of a nose dive for the movie. The special affects were below average at best. The whole family triangle of Shinnok, Raiden, and Shao Kahn was completely out of line.
There are many more, but I hate to talk about MK Annihilation.

Ya, well A: Johnny cage is my favorite character and B: Johnny Cage was killed by the extermination squad in the original storyline.
