Don't talk trash about francois petit who played subz in mk:movie. i really enjoyed petit being subz. it wasn't his fault, it was the director, writers, and fight choreographers to fault...they didnt give subz what he shouldve been given. i thought petit being subz gave subz a good presence...like words weren't needed. and although subz was flipping around alot, the fight choreographers were prob trying to show the superiority of subz's fight- the ability to not have to use blocks to fight an opponent.

the guy that i thought was horrible was subz from mka. i made be wrong, but he looked to scranny to be subz, but thats my opinion. the characters who played rayden, rain, sheeva, and sometimes shao kahn.

the mk:movie actors i thought were great, especially casamassa(it was the sheer presence like petit as subz), lambert, cary-tagawa, and johnny cage.

mk:a had a few alright actor: reiner as shinnok i thought was great. he brough his character more to life than other characters.

Sub in The first movie was good ..but he wouldve been better if he woulda had a bigger part is whut im sayin ....i thought the one in MKA was garbage..like i said he was all puny and sissy like

Sub Zero (MKA) - I thought Sub Zero was from China?

Raiden (MKA) - He did his best for a weak script, but Lambert portrayed Raiden excellently in Mortal Kombat 1, so I was feeling negatively about this James Remar before I'd seen anything. (I was feeling much more negatively after seeing MKA, lol)

Shao Kahn (MKA) - Who the hell cast him in this very important role???

Baraka (MKA) - Not the actor, but the stupid story, and the terrible Baraka/Rain death. (For a movie w/ a budget of $30M - up from $20M for MK1, how did they let that slip?)

Sheeva (MKA) - Not a good performance from a bad character.

Liu Kang/Kitana (MKA) - Not as bad as the rest in this list, but what happened to their resonable acting in MK1? Did they forget how to act in 2 years?

For the most part, the transistions were fine in the first movie. It was in the second one where the writers started butchering the characters.

Scorpion- "Suckers!" 'nuff said.

Kitana- The game Kitana has a developed and interesting story and personality. Where'd she go? Why were left with this boring version of Princess Leia?

Shao Kahn- With this jackass in charge, is anyone suprised Outworld keeps losing?

Jade- Did anyone else notice Jade's personality changed with her hair style? When she had bangs, she was good, when her hair was pulled back, she was evil? Schizo.

Noob Saibot- He lives in Ermac's chest? WTF???

Ermac- In the game, Ermac is described as enigmatic and mysterious. They filmmakers apparantly thought this meant a guy who talks a lot and kisses Shao Kahn's ass.

There are so many more, but these stick out the most.

While all the characters in MK1 were good and not miscasted; MKA's characters were turned up side down!
For most of them the translation from game to movie was absolutely horrible! I can give a lot of characters that were corny but I can't decide who was the worst of them all.


Characters that should've looked like scary and threatening demons looked more like regular humans in halloween costumes. Such as Shao Kahn, Shinnok, Sheeva, Motaro and Sindel. They were all puny as well.

Jax talked and acted like a hippy from the hood when he should've been talking and acting like a military general dammit!

Sonya wore a loose t-shirt and small shorts while out on a mission to help save the world??? Give me a break, a woman in the military would NOT dress like that while out to war (remember how she was in the beginning of MK1, what happened to that?)!

Liu Kang and Kitana looked like they had forgotten how to act. I don't get why in the first one they looked good but what the hell happened with them in MKA!?!?!?!? Making them a couple during the first fifteen minutes was too soon and that was rushed into.

Rayden was awful in MKA. The new look they gave him later on and his lines were too cheesy for a god!

Bridgitte Wilson (I don't know if it's written correctly) playing Sonya in MK The Movie was just horrible. I mean, in her fight against Kano, what was that? Her Leg Grab, for example, made me sick.

Noob Saibot, Rain and Baraka really had a poor story in MKA.

I liked Jax and Sindel in MKA. Also, Mileena was pretty nice, but they gave her a crap story.

I thought the actress who played Sonya in MK1 was the worst.. I just didn't enjoy it... didn't feel she fit the character.

hahahah you guys talk about keith cooke(sub zero) in mk:a like he was horrible.he was not. yeah he was skinny in mk:a but what about him as reptile in the first mk movie. he was one of the best fighters in that movie. i thought he was the best fighter in mk:a.

i think also it was sub-zero in the 2nd movie because he just sucked and looked nothing for the part and how is he not chinsse and his brother is and those were pretty bad effects with the ice

Sonya acting in 1st movie was horrible.

Like I always say, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I think that Bridgette Wilson did a great acting job in the first movie. Sonya Blade's essence is to be a tough, untrusting fighter. True, she's not good enough to beat Sheng Tsung or anyone that powerful, but her main objective was to capture and kill Kano. The one thing Bridgette Wilson did better than Sandra Hess was that she gave Sonya Blade that edge of cockiness and also she made Sonya's character developement much more understandable. Example: Mortal Kombat(the first movie), going into the eating room where Goro, Kano, and Sheng Tsung were, Sonya says "I smell something...bull(ShHH!...it)"...to me that says...I'm a person on a mission, I'm not some good girl, I'm a warrior out to kill the man who killed my partner....
If Sandra Hess were to say it, then I would think...why is this little good girl trying to cuss and act hard when obviously she's nothing like that...maybe others feel the same or different, but to me the Sonya in the second movie bit the big one.

I just wanted to say that I hated Jade in MKA, I hated what they did to the character. I could have dealt with the actress who played her if they didn't make her annoying as hell. The way she laughed, ugh.

Same goes with the guy who played Sub-Zero in the second movie, something really bothered me about him.

Sandra Hess as Sonya- She acted ok, BUT how did she go get a hair cut in that short time! I mean i would have understanded if the first movie ended differently, but she looked like a BUMB! They were too cheap to get her hair extensions and they probably got her costume at the thrift store.....she looked like a bumb

I agree with all of what you said. Ditto about the Sonya error in MKA! When I saw that I was like, WTF WERE THEY THINKING??????? It's likely the film makers behind MKA were too lazy to give Hess a hair extension and a black outfit! It's like they were too lazy to do a bunch of other things that could've easily been done with this pathetic movie!

So, the worst charactor from the first movie had to of been Jax, he was more of a puss than a badass like he's suppose to be.
