NetherRealm Studios Chief Creative Officer Ed Boon is no stranger to receiving fervent feedback from passionate fans online, but one die hard took his request to the court of televised crowd signs, drawing a response that promises key updates to Mortal Kombat 1. Read on for details:

Boon used X (formerly Twitter) to respond to EventHubs coverage of a tongue-in-cheek fan sign [pictured below via @813ISAAC], which appeared during coverage of the AEW Full Gear pro wrestling pay-per-view event on Saturday. Personally addressed to the developer head, the sign reads "WiFi Filter please!!! Mr. Boon!". It refers to quality of life issues plaguing online play of Mortal Kombat 1. Update:The sign holder & author has been identified as Philler Instinct.

In his reply, Boon promised the requested feature, as well as the much discussed "krossplay" function bridging different platforms and seen in Mortal Kombat 11, are both on their way subject to quality control. 'We just gotta make sure they’re solid. More info koming soon! Thanks for your patience [prayer emoji]'. In a follow-up response, Boon added "We’ll be rolling out the features. WiFi filter/decline comes first."

The Wifi Filter featured second in a user poll conducted by Boon earlier this month, garnering 10.6% of the vote. Krossplay was a stand-out feature, earning a dominant 75.5% of the 57,508 votes tallied -- more than 43,000 votes! The poll also included changing ranked play to best 2/3 (7.5%) and a ping filter (6.4%). The former has since been implemented for Kombat League, reducing the 3/5 format.

Once included, the features will broaden the online player base, while also allowing players to make more informed qualitative decisions about the matches and opponents they compete with. NetherRealm Studios first addressed the omission of krossplay in September, after material initially listed its inclusion. Krossplay was a successful feature for MK11.
