The official launch trailer confirms today's release with all existing downloadable content included in one package, with previously announced movie-inspired skins packed in. Previously announced skins inspired by the upcoming Mortal Kombat II movie sequel are the new feature offered with the release of Mortal Kombat 1 Definitive Edition. They include skins for Scorpion, Johnny Cage, Kitana, and Shao Kahn, along with all Kombat Pack and Khaos Reigns downloadable content. The value proposition launches at $69.99 for most versions, with the Nintendo Switch at $59.99. An update to the base game is also available for PC for $59.99.

"An Era built for peace and tranquility is destined to fester with Khaos and deception" according to official description for the new edition, which bundles a tumultuous chapter for the long-running franchise. Although there is no official word at this time, the Definitive Edition is expected to conclude updates to Mortal Kombat 1.
