Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is set to unleash three downloadable characters and an all new story mode on players. With the new plot comes new and returning locations, which will be available free for all. Take a closer look at one of the beloved klassic arenas making a comeback: The Dead Pool!

NetherRealm Studios released the third arena render via Twitter, having already showcased Kronika's Keep and The Soul Chamber with previous preview images.

Just like The Soul Chamber; the returning Dead Pool has a completely new look for MK11. The modern Dead Pool is a dank and uninviting space cast in shadow, but still bathed in the familiar green glow of a flowing acid lake. Burnt corpses hung from chains remain a decorative standard for the space, with more elaborate architecture and flowing streams of acid running from the ceiling.

Players first sent their opponents to an acid eaten end in Mortal Kombat II and the famous stage fatality will make its return with Aftermath. The gruesome finisher appears in the Aftermath Announce Trailer, with Revenant Liu Kang demonstrating the results in an official hi-res screenshot

Occasionally another stage in the series has let fighters play with acid, but The Dead Pool inevitably returned with increasingly elaborate updates in Mortal Kombat: Deception, the 2011 reboot, and 2005 action-adventure spin-off Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. The update has most in common with 2011's update. You can see it and other klassic versions below.
