Yeah. I'm cool with the roster, it's just disappointing it seems there are no secret unlockable fighters. Would've been really nice NRS, because I've been playing MK for 25 years and don't give an F about trophies.

They have been getting rid of secret/unlockable fighters since MK9. The only secret was Cyber Sub-Zero, who they tried unsuccessfully to keep under wraps, while Quan Chi was unlockable. In MKX, Shinnok was an unlockable.

Who said every single kharacter must be on the trophy list? It's still possible there are some unlockables.

As much as I don't like it, I doubt there are unlockables. I like DLC even less but we'll for sure be getting some DLC as well

Since they know that the trophy list will be out there, how are we not sure they are not revealing everything yet? lol

It seems unlikely that the people who havent preordered the game, will only get 24 playable characters to start with.

we might think we know everything from the trophy list, but simply, they might have not give us everything. EVERY single MK game had its hidden surprises.

A secret character could just mean an unlockable character in the same way Shinnok was unlockable. For reference Cyber Sub-Zero was a secret character and had a trophy associated with unlocking him.

There's no hidden or secret unknown characters.

The faster you realize this the less disappointed you'll be.

The roster is miles better than MKX's. Not perfect, not even close...but it's a decent start.

Now let's see how the DLC fills out...

Secret characters are confirmed, the problem is the definition of what constitutes a secret character in this franchise is a BROAD one...

Secret character can mean any of the following:

• A hidden fight who is not necessarily playable (Reptile in MK1. Jade, Noob & Smoke in MKII. Noob again in MK3. All four of those characters classic versions as recently as MK9)
• A playable character who, while hidden has a spot on the select screen and is arguably part of the complete roster (Smoke in MK3. Ermac, Mileena & Bi-Han in UMK3.)
• A completely UNHIDDEN playable character who is known from the get-go, and simply needs to be unlocked (Half the roster of MKDA or MKD. Shinnok in MKX. Quan Chi in MK9. Taven & Daegon in Armageddon.)
• A hidden playable character who doesn't necessarily have unique moves, or an actual complete backstory (Chameleon in MKT, Meat in MK4, even Noob in MK4. While playable, he lacked story components and unique moves.)
• A hidden playable character who has a bio, ending & backstory, but is still completely hidden from the select screen, and not necessarily part of the core roster (Sektor in MK Gold. Mokap & Blaze in MKDA.)

When a developer says there are secret characters (and they have for MK11) they could mean literally any of the above definitions. And since we have no way of knowing which they mean, we can't necessarily assume there are more playable characters we don't currently know about. That's not a given just because they confirmed "secret characters"

Maybe Frost is locked when we first boot up the game, and we don't unlock her until she debuts in story mode and surprise, she's a Cyborg (similar to Cyber Sub-Zero). Thus they she could be a "secret" character. Thus fufilleth the developer prophecy. We aren't technically supposed to know she even exists yet. Thus she could very well be "Secret" (Just as an example)

ALL THAT SAID... If (emphasis on if) Mileena or Shinnok were playable... I don't necessarily think they'd NEED to have achievements associated with them. Secret characters are not always complete in this franchise. See many examples above. Hell, even Cyber Sub-Zero as recently as MK9 was not a complete character, he recycled normal Sub-Zero's bio, his ending had cheaper quality animation than most other characters, and he lacked an alt costume (unlike EVERY other character on the roster).

My only point is - we don't know what tf we know, and we can't necessarily infer one way or the other. Speculation is fun, but lets not forget, we only have half the picture at the moment.

I will however say this - I think 24 achievements pretty much guarantees Shao Kahn is occupying slot number 25.

Even if there is a secret character #26 & #27 (which there probably aren't, but who knows)... one would think surely if there were 25 basic character, there would be 25 basic achievements. This suggests 24 basic characters + Kahn.

But again, it's all guesswork. Who the hell knows. Take what we know as a given, treat anything else as gravy, but don't assume gravy will be included.

Well, Shao Kahn is hidden behind a paywall and fits the criteria listed above :D :D

I preordered so it doesn't truly affect me but the word PAYWALL just gets on my damn nerves (not a slight against you, just the word in general)

i just wanted from MK11 at least the same number of characters as was in base Injustice 2 - 28 characters + 1 DLC. later 9 DLC characters, plus premium skins. so i hope there will be 2x Kombat Pack with at least 12 DLCs total, if the base game has 4 characters less than I2. more fighters in DC game than in MK game is heresy.

I am a bit let down that they didn't increase the size of the base roster at all from MKX. And if we really are only getting 6 DLC characters the final roster will actually be smaller than MKX.

Seems like this weeks Kombat Kast will feature Noob (as promised last week), Cetrion (revealed by GameInformer), and Frost (who's just been teased for the Mobile game).

Ugh, so it makes Kitana the last one to be revealed? Along with Kollector I guess. Why are they doing this to us Kitana fans?

Kitana is probably an important part of the story. She is/was the Empress after all at the ending of MKX. I think Kitana fans might get more than they expect.

At this rate, I just hope we at least get a gameplay trailer for her before launch. I have been patiently awaiting her reveal since the game was announced way back when. I have been imaging her fatal blow, her fatalities and special moves for so long now. Either we get something or the wait is over in 21 days.

I agree, it's time. Mileena and Sonya got alot of shine in MKX, we need some character devlopment now, I think they would agree. Kitana's a revenant ruler at the end of the last game, so she rules, but it's a twisted thing, kind of backwards really. There must be some resolution, she's gotta be one of the stronger characters in terms of strength and lore.

Actually she's one of my favorite fighters.

But in mortalkombat.com/roster there are 30 spots for characters. Six of them are DLC?

So I'm guessing Kombat Pack 1 will probably be-

1) Shang Tsung

2) Mileena

3) Shinnok

4) ?????

5) Guest

I hope I'm wrong- that's a little disappointing if true. But who knows how many spots guests will occupy and I DON'T see them leaving Mileena out, Shinnok's whole family being in the game except for him seems like an odd choice. Not to mention all three of these characters were rumored to be "secret" so maybe it'll turn out their DLC.

I really hope the Kombat pack isn't that predictable. Shang and Mileena are fine- I want them back ASAP- but those last 4 spots better be interesting choices...

The roster page on mortalkombat.com(the page that showed 29 character slots) has been made inaccessible. Strange.

Hopefully they're updating it, because I've been chomping at the friggin' bit to read some new bios ever since they announced Shang Tsung. I keep checking it and getting disappointed, lol.
