To be honest, it doesn't truly feel like MK if Kitana and Mileena aren't in.

I'm sure Mileena will be DLC but they might show some restraint and keep her until MK12.

Can someone answer me this:

Boon keep saying the roast is 25. But for what we know the 25 includes Shao Kahn. My question is, they are misleading the public and in fact there are only 24 characters as Shao Kahn is the pre order bonus? If I buy the standard edition after the game comes out I will have Shao Kahn too? Or They should tell people the games has 24 characters and to get the advertised 25 you should preorder?

The base roster is 25 - which includes Shao Kahn.
You just have to pay in advance, or pay extra if you want full access to the base game.

Otherwise parts of the game you already own will be locked behind a paywall.

Sounds bad doesn't it? That's because it is - and game devs have gotten in deep shit for trying to do this in the past. I'm very disappointed that more people aren't outraged over this scummy bullcrap.

I have the same thoughts. I'm a fan of Kitana only but I think both Kitana and Mileena should be playable in every game, their fanbase is huge after all. Deception would have been way better if Kitana was in it. As for Mileena in MK 11, I think she will be DLC and will surely give them lots of money.

I also agree with this. Pre MK Armageddon, I was okay with Kitana or Mileena sitting out for a game (Deadly Alliance, Deception) but at this point, it just kinda seems appropriate that a few certain characters (Scorpion, Sub Zero, Kitana, Mileena, Liu Kang, and maybe Kung Lao) are in every game, even if NRS concludes the characters’ story, the character should be on the base roster or at least DLC, just as fan service.

Well you should inculde Sonya, Johnny, Jax and Kano to that list to. They to are iconic characters and should not sit one out. Especially Sonya and Johnny seeing those two are original kombatants since mk1 and their big story arc in mk9 and mkx

Never understood the outrage over pre ordering. It literally costs 0 more dollars. You are either getting the game or you aren’t, put 5 dollars down a day before it releases.

I see no problem with game companies trying to incentivize people buying the game. Hell the game industry has been very fair to us by not increasing the base game cost in 15+ years. They need some way of pulling in extra money. I’m just glad they haven’t raised the base game cost to 70 or 80 bucks.

Publishers trick and manipulate people into buying games early... before the reviews are released... before people have had a chance to play the game... before people realise the game isn't worth the money.... before people realise the game isn't actually finished or in a playable state.

The studios that abuse this the most are companies like EA, Activition, Bethesda. Look at Battlefield V, Anthem, Destiny, and Fallout 76 as prime examples. If you haven't been keeping up-to-date it was recently exposed that Anthem's "7 years of development" was a mess, and that the game was thrown together in under a year, AFTER the E3 trailer which supposedly showed gameplay footage. It was faked "as most are".

What you see is rarely what you get on release. It's an industry wide problem, and it's solely to screw over the consumer so that the publishers can make a 'quick buck'. The game industry has NOT been fair at all. It's a massive scam most of the time. Especially from the bigger, Triple-A companies.

Games HAVE gone up in price... at least here in the UK. They've gone up quite a lot actually. In the PS2-era you'd be paying £30 for a physical copy of brand new AAA title. These days you're paying £60 for a digital access (you don't even own the game, you're practically renting it).

Game companies don't need "ways of pulling in extra money". In some aspect the cost of development has gone up, but in other wasy it has gone down. And they are making hundreds of millions in profit from launch sales alone. They're making so much money that CEOs are being paid up to 30 million annually. 30 million could pay a decent wage to over 800 base-level employees. Other Executive-level staff are getting 20 million bonuses just for accepting a job at a studio... a job where they'll be earning that same amount on a yearly basis.

Exectutive-level staff are getting paid that amount and the companies are still rich enough to be buying up other companies / IPs, and still have more than enough left over to fund game development + marketing. Marketing which includes paying dozens of Twitch streamers up to 1 million to play and promote the game.

You want me to be thankful for constantly being ripped off, lied to, manipulated, and treat like I'm less than human by greedy corporations? Too many people buy into their bullshit and perpetuate the lies and scumbag tactics. Thankfully more and more people are waking up to it and are fed up. It's just a shame it's taken so long and that so many people are still fooled by it.

Is $60 the final amount you pay or is it $60 before tax, so like $66 total? I always thought we get ripped off in the UK but looks like we pay less than Americans for games.

I Googled it and from what I understand new games run about 50 pounds in Britain, and when I put that in a currency converter to U.S. dollars that came out to 65 USD whereas new games cost 60 dollars before taxes here. And according to Google your sales tax in the UK is 20 percent whereas almost everywhere in the U.S. it's only 8.25%. With sales tax in the U.S. a new game is roughly $64.79. But in the UK with your sales tax rate the total price on a new game is about £60 which is equivalent to $78! So yeah it seems you guys pay roughly 20% more for new games.

Deception was sorely missing Kitana. Her absence did give Jade/Sindel a chance to step up but meh- Onaga controlled Kitana still would've been fun to play as.

Mileena would sale higher than any guest character. I'm 99% sure she'll be DLC, probably the second character revealed after Shang Tsung.

New games MSRP in UK is £50 but you can get new games in the UK for £40 easily. I got the Premiere Edition pre-ordered for £69 which is $90. That is including tax. Every price in the UK has tax included.

I bet her and Shinnok will both be in season/Kombat Pack 1 with Shang Tsung.

Ohh, okay. No, sales tax is not included in the price here. You have to figure it in yourself when deciding what you're gonna buy. And you never find new video games below MSRP here either. So if you can get it for £40 which is tax included that's equivalent to only $52 so actually that's almost 20% less than what we have to pay.

I'm not really surprised. The U.S. is hyper capitalist even compared to other capitalist countries so consumers get raked over the coals even more here. You wouldn't believe what we have to pay for internet compared to people in Europe, and for the most part it's not as high speeds either.

Shinnok being in I wouldn't throw a hissy fit about especially since I'd like to see him and Cetrion face off- but I liked it better when he was a rumored unlockable. I really don't like Shinnok being DLC because I think there are so many better choices that are worth the money than him. While MKX elevated his profile, it's not like Shinnok was a sensation or anything so I wouldn't be jumping up and down with glee if he occupied a DLC spot. He'd be perfect for a secret unlockable or something...or hell maybe even as a free DLC "Thank you" later on down the road. But nothing more.

LOL at figuring out the tax.

The USA is extremely big and laying down the cables for broadband internet is expensive. I would not be surpised if you could not choose your internet provider because not all of them can put down their cables. I pay a package which includes Internet and television totalling £25 a month. Internet is high speed and unlimited.

This is basically how i think of NRS and the recent MK games. Tobias was a great influance and inventor within the MK series. He did alot more than many think.

J. Tobias's art designs and lore were very eastern inspired. That combined with sci fi realms and portals etc was a godlike combination.

Have you seen the rapid question interview with Ed? There Ed says that alot of that (japanese mytholgie) was J. Tobias input. NRS seems not even interested about it anymore. I hope 1 day Mortal Kombat get a special collab with J. Tobias again.

I really think the only way to make the entire fanbase happy is... wait for it... another MK Armageddon game where every character is in it along with every stage, fatality, etc. But that would require A LOT more game developers to develop the game in a timely manner which means more wages and ultimately more $$$ on the consumer's end.

There definitely has got to be a perfect ending to this "second reboot" timeline bullshit. As a business major I can tell you this was only done to keep older characters alive and relevant and milk what was then a dying franchise while NRS still delivers broken and skewed plots that ultimately have made the lore uninteresting and less a lure than the gratuitous non-sense violence that keeps turning comical.

I mean if we can have all of these Star Wars trilogies, Spider Man and Batman movie reboots, and ICP's plans for another Dark Carnival series, why not end this crapfest and reboot a third Mortal Kombat franchise.

Well in my area there is a company that has a monopoly on cable/internet which sucks. £25 is equivalent to $32. We pay fucking $130 a month for combined cable television/internet, and we don't get unlimited data either. If we go over a certain amount we get charged extra. The internet part itself is $47, BUT that's only packaged with cable. We wanted to get rid of the cable and just have internet but we found out if we get rid of the cable the internet would cost $100 a month, so we were like fuck it.

Maybe not another Armageddon, but I personally wouldn't mind a large roster tag-team based MK game that's NON-CANON and features a huge 40-50 character roster. No guests. Basically something a long the lines of Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Something that's big and fun. A giant fan service game before the next serious main installment. People get their damn Rains, their Fujins, their Haviks ect. Just nothing but fun.

It all comes back to the leaked select screen and the leaks in general. If we have 25 + 6, theres still extra spots to be accounted for in that leaked picture. Then add to that the fact that the leaks, aside from Shang being unlockable, have been right about literally everything else; Cetrion and Kollector as names, descriptions of their models and gameplay, Jax being back, Frost being in and her role in story.... That right there tells me everything I need to know.
