I feel like Mortal Kombat already had plenty of characters. A lot of which NEED attention, better story/design etc. But they decided to introduce bugs and and shiiii.

That's fair I can somewhat agree with that, but I do feel that D'Vorah was probably the best character out of that half baked batch and feels like she belongs in MK. I just wish other characters could have joined her for the ride.

I will also agree that her significance in the story does feel forced. Why she was the one dealing with a good portion of the significant conflicts in MKX is questionable, like why was she the one to take on Baraka or featured so much in the market place battle when the demigod Ermac is right next to her.

Good character, great villain, a bit overpowered in my opinion.

Not to mention that King Jerrod bullshit. Was she even around as Shao Kahn's minion when Outworld invaded Edenia?

This is interesting to me, as I have had the same experience - online, I find myself in good company generally liking D'Vorah, pretty meh on Takeda (he has potential). But offline virtually none of my friends like D'Vorah

Going back to Scorpion's death scene... I thought it was amazing... This guy lived through shit a d I think he finally tired out and the idea that it took future Scorp to convince past Scorp to stop looking for revenge was also well thought up.

I am not surprised nobody wanna play her in MK11. I really think she looks great and has the perfect personality. Her moves, combos, brutalities/fatalities... everything is a trademark of D'Vorah. But I don't play her because her gameplay sucks... It is difficult to pull of combos with her. Even pro players are limited with her combo wise. The only kharacter which is a little bit weaker is Kotal Kahn (in terms of combos) but he can compare it with his totems. I was so happy when she was revealed but right now I am not good enough to make fluid combos with her -.-

Yes, really. This is not a good method but on the trophy for doing both fatalities with a character, she is last even behind hated characters like Jacqui Briggs. I have played so many online matches and I have not played against D'Vorah even once. Nobody is playing her. I played Kasual King of the Hill and no one played her. I played Kasuals matches only and no one played her, played Rank and and no one played her. I even grouped up on the Jade and Scorpion boss characters with randoms and no one picked her. Even in AI Battle I have never seen her.

The internet is not a good barometer for how populer a character is. On the internet only the most hardcore fans are going to be talking about MK. Casuals play the game and do not talk about it on the internet.

People love D'Vorah. The reason you don't see her online is because she sucks. She is one of the worst characters in the game right now and she will remain one of the least played characters only if they never buff her.

People usually play with their favourite characters despite execution being a factor. I have played a lot and again Scorpion is by the far the character I have played the most against. I played in King of the Hill and against the group battle bosses, so there was no matchmaking, and everbody was picking Scorpion and maybe Noob. I think Geras and Erron Black are the best characters in the game but I only see him in Ranked and they are moderately popular there. Geras is super easy to play. His main combo is 111. It does not get any easier than that. His only other combo worth using is f212.

Pretty sure if Scorpion was as shit as D'Vorah is, no one would play him. Not online. Look at D'Vorah's biggest fan HoneyBee, even he plays Noob instead cause D'Vorah is sooo bad.

Scorpion was rubbish in MK9 and MKX. He was essentially bottom tier. Nobody used him in tournaments but he was by FAR the most used character in both games. I play Scorpion because he is my favourite not because he is good or bad. If he is bad I will still play him, like I did in MK9 and MKX. If he is great then I will play him like MK11. That rings true for the vast majority of players.

D'Vorah might be reasonably popular with hardcore fans but she is not popular with the vast majority of casual fans as someone else has pointed out in this thread. D'Vorah was not used much in MKX and she was one of the best characters in MKX. It does not matter how good she is. She is a niche character. Even posters in this very thread do not like her, most notably OP. Look at the thread title. LOL.

No one said she is the worst character in the game but anyone who think D'vorah is a popular character is delusional. There is nothing to show she is popular. She was not even popular in MKX. Just because someone people really like her does not mean everyone else does.

Well when it comes down to it who are the ones that matter the most here? The casuals who put this game on for a party or youtube views or us, the fans? And I would say looking all across the internet gives one a better perspective at least with this than it would gathering a crowd reaction from one fan forum.

I don't think you're seeing the bigger picture. She only killed Future Alive Scorpion and there's no chance that Undead Scorpion will get another chance to become resurrected by Raiden. Since Raiden gave his powers to Lui Kang.

I think the developers intended on Scorpion becoming an undead revenant again. Seeing as he was brought back among the living in MKX. Which I didn't like. Because what made Scorpion cool was because he was a dead man on a quest for vengeance over the death of his family.

So in a way, she did us all a favor. You see, she didn't actually kill Scorpion. She just undid what Raiden had already done so Kronika could have the Undead Scorpion who couldn't die because he's already dead. But Kronika didn't count on undead Scorpion allying himself with Raiden. She wanted to use him the same way Shinnok was. Even Noob Saibot makes a comment when you fight him that you can't kill what's already dead.

Now not only does Hanzo Hasashi have his undeath back, but with all the perks that come with it. So the next time he fights D'Vorah, he'll be immune to her poisons because.....well.....he's undead and his body is a hellspawn.

So if you think about it. That's great!

Maybe next time they can remember that he's not a revenant. But even if he is undead he can still die. Him being undead doesn't make him invincible, especially when he is out of the Netherrealm. Remember he's weaker when he's not in hell. Even Sareena died when Shinnok blasted her, she just wound up in another level of the Netherrealm which Quan Chi for whatever reason pulled her from.

The ones that matter the most are the ones that buy the game, and the vast majority of people who buy MK11 are casuals. One of the jobs at NRS is a data analyst, which means they look at data pulled from the game and see what trends players are doing. They have talked about this before and one of the things they look at to determine how popular a character is, is looking at how much a character is used. Ed Boon mentioned this during MK9's development.
