It didn't shock me at all since young Scorpion was there too.

It was like "ok... he'll be back in a few years anyway". But honestly given the end of the Story Mode anything can happen from now on (including anything at all).

Mortal Kombat is pretty famous for changing anything and everything when it is convenient for the developers. It's not a bad thing. I do believe they do that so they can take away or bring back characters that they want to bring into the next game. But MK11 is probably the best Mortal Kombat game that I've played since the very first 3. MKX was pretty meh for me. But I still played it. It just didn't satisfy me in the way MK11 does.
