Oh okay. I guess technically Kronika isn't really confirmed yet as a playable character either since we haven't seen her in action, although it's reasonable to assume she is playing such a central role in the story.

That gives us a total of 20 right there. Kinda nuts to think about and doesnt really leave all that much more room for folks I personally think are more deserving but time shall tell I guess.

Well damn. And only 2 new characters so far out of all that. And Kano being in makes me wonder if the rumors about his son as a new character was bogus, as well as the rumors about a new female minister for Kotal Kahn. Speaking of, no Kotal Kahn or any characters introduced in MKX other than Cassie. And no Fujin out of those either. So in terms of those final 5 slots you've got MKX characters, 3D era characters, and more new characters all vying for them.

If I had to guess with the story being about going back in time to MK9 and changing the timeline, it's gonna be 3D era characters who get the shaft again. I'm calling it now: there's not going to be one single 3D era character on the base roster, even Kenshi.

People are gonna be piiiiiissed. The way this base roster is shaping up it's really making me hope that the rumor we heard before of two season's of 6 characters each for DLC is true because if it's just 6 and that's includes 2-3 guest characters it's hardly gonna remedy the base roster.

It is also really discouraging that Cassie might be the only new character from MKX to return. Not even Kotal Kahn or Erron Black? Back to the days of NRS introducing a new batch of characters and ditching all of them except maybe one in the next game.

It's super early days yet my dude. There's still a bunch of characters yet to be confirmed.

I hope the current select screen is only a formality.

24 characters will not suffice, and I do not intend on buying the rest of the roster.

am i the only one who came off as dissapointed in the whole event? i guess i expected more since they release in april wich is less than 3 months . game looks great no doubt but this felt more like a tournament event not a reveal

I hadn't considered that possibility. I hope that's the case because if it is there's a higher chance of characters like Kotal Kahn, Erron Black, and Fujin making it in.

So far I like what I’ve seen! I’m glad that showed characters people didn’t expect to throw off the leak list rumours (I wonder if Ed did that intentially).

seeing Skarlet gives me hope for Reiko. Ed said how she was a popular request, also her outfit is similar to her time with Reiko in the Komic.

I hope for Shang and Reiko, Kano and Fujin a bonus. I’m imagining the select screen is a placeholder and can easily be expanded just like how X was.

Johnny Cage is also visible on a monitor in the bts video. That definitely looked like gameplay.

Guys, we’re neglecting the possibility that the rooster MIGHT have SECRET unlockables!!! Just think bro!!! How amazing would it be to have to fight and unlock certain characters by grinding.... :D

We have almost 20 characters of the 25 confirmed. If they add the kombat kids that leaves no room for anybody else. Shao khan is apart of the 25 just like goro was not a hidden slot in mkx. Cage and kano might be playable and switched out in the arena like a skarlet was when you picked her in mk9 being replaced by Tanya in shao khan arena. Fujin reiko noob yahoo sereena or the kombat kids wont make the cut. Havik story wise and popularity wise needs to come back at least as DLC. Reiko and kotal khan might be out because shao khan is here. I wanna say reptile will be in due to popularity and onaga not being in this game. Quan chi , mileena, d'vorah seem out. And having only 2 new characters (being sub boss and main boss) seems dumb too. Very hard to predict the last 5 people but ima go with

How do we know there are only gonna be 25 base characters though?
From that select screen?
How do we know they are not trolling us? That character screen can change in the future , we still got 3 months.
They would know that giving us less than MKX would be dissapointing, so i am not sure they would give that away on the first look.

If I'm not mistaken, in MK9 and Injustice 1 and 2 the character select screen didn't change, only in MKX that they added 1 slot. Given that the game is only 3 months away, I don't think It will change, and I also believe Shao Kahn's slot is already there.

Now, about the roster, I already expected Johnny, Kitana, Kung Lao, Jax and Kano, like it or not, they along with Scorpion, Sub Zero, Raiden, and Sonya are what the Street Fighter 2 gang is to Street Fighter, so they will be in pretty much every game.

Just saw the London reveal live stream and one of the producers said there are 27 base characters.
Lets hope they release a lot of DLC extras, since i am getting the premium edition.

you guys are totally forgetting about the premiere skin they said we be getting and if they can do what they did with triborg in mkx where you could be each robot, why doesn't everyone wait and see who is in and who is out before crying over little issues

Quoting myself but just thinking this over today.... if the above is all true and accurate, my bets on the rest of the roster are as follows:

• 1 other MKX newbie - Takeda or Kotal Kahn are my guesses here
• 1 of the 3 cyborgs
• 2 post Trilogy era folk; Fujin, Bo, Kenshi, Frost or Ashrah would be my guesses
• 1 more UMK3 folk; Nightwolf or Sindel

I do not think Kahn's square is present yet. My bet is he will be added next to Geras at the bottom.

It's also a rare occasion where we don't have 8 new characters coming in.
