Seems quite a few characters have their fatalities from the older games as brutalities now so here's hoping ;)

Yeah, that second fatality was pretty weak considering all the options they had for updating his klassic fatalities.

I'm very excited for Shang Tsung. I think he might play very similar to Liu Kang unless you go full zoning style. He has Liu Kang-like string that ends on plus frames on block and has a gap at the end. So there will definitely be some staggering there, mind games whether you'll finish the string, go for a krushing blow one, end it with a special move or a parry. So I think he might heavily rely on this string just like Liu Kang does on F43, U3. Not to mention he has other combo possibilities. I wonder what his other variation is. Probably all the ninjas together? I hope at least Smoke is in. I really like having a parry especially for string like that one wtih the gap.

One thing they forgot to tell us is how will we get gear for DLC characters. I assume there will be towers of time and character towers but is that it? How about The Krypt? I'm pretty sure people have tens of thousands souls and hearts. Would be nice to spend those in The Krypt to get more gear for DLC characters.

Can we all just stop for a moment and appreciate that awesome third costume. They are really going all in with the movie homages with this character and I am all for it! I always thought Shang looks incredibly imposing when he wore that jacket in the movie.

It's nice to see DLC characters get additional costumes for a change. Not that I thought they wouldn't this time around due to the system built into the game revolving around gear.

Eh I thought it was okay. At least it was more than him just pulling out a knife and eviscerating his opponent. I still would have loved to see them pay homage to Deception and have him summon a fire cobra for his second fatality.

His second fatality seemed more like something Scorpion or Quan Chi would do? Shangs' never been one to summon the dead and have them do his dirty work. He's always just been a harvester of the dead.

The second fatality is great for itself. But I would also welcomed his klassik soul steal. But I am sure he has it as a brutality. Overall his gameplay looks good. I like some specials except the ninja morphing. Just not my way to see Shang Tsung gameplay wise.

During the first part of the second fatality, I thought it started mediocre. When it pulled out the skeleton and kept it hanging there, that's where the fatality turned out a whole lot better. I like the fatality in itself, but I would have rather have a soul steal fatality. I don't think Shang Tsung is one to go full on dismemberment. Hopefully he has a 3rd ( Soul Steal) fatality.

With the "And now for a taste of things to come" and "Your soul is mine" intro/outro, although good and I'm happy they're in, they need just that little more extra punch like in the movie. It's too mellow now in my opinion. You know... put a little more soul into it :).

Again I am just left thinking of how gruesome a recreated version of his MK2 or MK3 fatality could be with the fidelity of the realistic visuals and the cinematic camera work of the fatalities. If it is a brutality, which it probably is, I hope they give it a little more visual flair than the character just going pale when his soul is taken. At least have Shang suck it out of them with his eyes or something.

Agreed he could use a bit more inflection when reciting those lines. Just a little too soft, he needs to really get back to digging in at the end when saying "You're soul is mmIIIIINNNEE!!"

This gameplay video allays any fear I had that Shang would be a Triborg gimmick. The ninja morphing is so inconsequential to his general moveset that you don't even need to incorporate it if you don't want to. His Fatal Blow unfortunately is a Tri-ninja showcase (huge missed opportunity to step on and break the back as in the movie) but I friggin' love how he plays.

I always avoid Fatality spoilers so I haven't seen his first or second yet. For those upset it's not a soul steal, i'm positive he'll have a Soul Steal brutality.

Oh man I didn't even consider that they should incorporate his spine stomp as his Fatal Blow. That is a massive missed opportunity!

It would have been great it they used his entire arm snapping back hand beating that he gave to Chang and of course topping it off with the spine snap.

I can see why they were rather dodgy with giving him a soul siphon fatality. Both of his finishers in vs DC were variants of said fatality.

Same case with Kano having two heart removal based fatalities in 2011

Yeah but that was a decade ago and, it looked really really bad back in that game. Oh man damn you! You reminded me of the MK vs DC fatalities!

Whatever his various brutalities end up being, I'm just really glad they didn't shit on Shang again in the Fatality department. MK9...seriously? A recycled, very stupid Liu Kang fatality from the 3d era, and a fucking dancing clown? Shang became a whipping boy for the series for a while, and I think that Cary's representation of him is going to net him the respect he once again deserves as the ORIGINAL big bad of MK. He has multiple soul siphoning moves in his move set so I really do hope he has at least one major soul steal brutality.

Surely we will get another Kombat Kast before the DLC release right? Tomorrow? Friday? Monday is a bit late isn't it. Considering we haven't seen anything about the characters and 2 aren't even confirmed yet. I hope it's tomorrow.

Ehm... is there a new patch for MK11? Because right now I can download a patch which has a size from 3,4 gb... Or does it mean we get Shang Tsung?

Shang Tsung and his gear have been pre-patched with the 6/11/19 update.

It is now possible to get Shang Tsung gear - myself and two friends have received several pieces from AI battles today.

I've just watched Max's Shang Tsung video. It doesn't look like you can unlock any gear from The Krypt unless it was just a coincidence that those that he's shown were from ToT. Also he says no ninjas in his ranked variations. I really hope that changes before he is released. I want Smoke at least. Would add so much to his gameplay with mind games for that string with a gap. It's not like it's very op special move. Unlike Liu Kang's, you have to spend a metter to parry normal attacks.
