Official MK11 Image Highlights Armored Raiden

Building off yesterday's release of a new Shao Kahn render: NetherRealm Studios has shared a new image of Raiden, spotlighting the Thunder God's latest armored attire. Update: The full-size render has officially been released and can be seen with the smaller preview below.

Raiden's new gear was first glimpsed in the Mortal Kombat 11 Announce Trailer and again in the first official gameplay screenshots. It shows a slick new armored style for Raiden, who is in possession of Shinnok's amulet and has incorporated the powerful talisman into his chest gear.

The new image was shared via the MK11 Discord channel and offers just one glimpse at Raiden in the new game. Mortal Kombat 11 will boast extensive customization options that will allow fans to take creative control of their favourite fighters.

Definitely these are customised with Raiden also a samurai type look. Not particularly thrilled about this, too much going on.

This is a different staff than the one crazy Raiden uses against Scorpion in the trailer. I don't like his face. Been bugging me since the announcement.

Building off of yesterday's release of the new Shao Kahn render, today, NetherRealm Studios shared a picture of Raiden. It's not the full-size render–presumably, that will come later–but it does provide a good glimpse at Raiden's updated look.

This was posted on the Official NRS Mortal Kombat 11 Discord channel, along with a poll asking users:

Who is your favorite Kombatant everyone? Raiden or Shao Kahn? What are your thoughts on Raiden's look? Be sure to comment on the Mortal Kombat 11 forums and share your thoughts.

Not as mush of a fan of this as the Shao Kahn image. Looks a bit busy and too superhero like for my tastes. Gorgeous graphics though

In proper MK fan fashion, I'd like to start by saying Raiden's head looks too big for his body here lol.

I'm not convinced this looks better or even as good as MKX aside the Kahn render. I'm open to being corrected.

I'm really into the look of the characters so far. They've come a long way from the ugliness of MK9's character models and designs.

The photorealism going on is crazy. Who needs digitized actors?

Hmm, too "superheroey" as said before.
Too much gold goin on, too much gold goin on with shao kahn, too much gold on scorpion.
Me personally am looking for those dark, gritty costumes.

Everything i've seen so far looks too much like Injustice to me :(
I hope this is not the standard costume.

The complaint that some have made against this possibly being his default look seems senseless considering the fact that character customization is going to be a feature in MK11. On another note, I will agree with the criticism that his head looks a bit...odd.

There is a lot of gold on the characters. Wonder why they've gone for that gold theme?! Could be story related? Or just design choice lol

I plan on changing the costume as soon as I can. It just looks cluttered.

I hope that the monetization doesn’t get too crazy and we can unlock at least some things, like these extra costumes, through gameplay, or at the very least I hope NRS doesn’t get too strong armed by Warner and that they keep the DLC packs relatively accessible, price related.
