After a month and a half of playing this game, I'm officially sick of all of them. Every once in a while I'll do a stage one, but that's about it.

I bring this up, because I think NRS should start weening us off of them. Maybe in the next game we should have one good one per character. This franchise is often labeled as a gimmicky, because the gameplay hasn't been as tight (even in 2011) and a lot of work is done on finishers to rope in casuals.

Do I think this series can have good gameplay and good fatalities? Yes. But to me putting in time to make a bunch of finishers is a waste when people are rarely doing them. I've spend a lot of time with this game, and fatalities have nothing to do with me coming back for more.

Ultimately, I think that future MK installments should only have one per character. It should only be there for traditional purposes, and as a nice throwback. Other than that there is no point in NRS slaving over fatalities when they could be making more unlockables, stages, alts, and gameplay tweaks.

Tell me what you guys think?

They don't bother me. No matter how long the game has been out, I still perform fatalities every now and then. Even the babalities.

It doesn't bother me, even on online.

Fatalities are part of MK (like I needed to say that). No matter how repetetive or boring they get. Take them out of MK and you're beggin for extreme backlash.

how dare you bash and flame fatalities like that? fatalities have always been an important part of this franchise, 2 fatalities per character plus stage and babality is awesome, everytime i win and perform one it feels great, even 15 years after i performed a fatality in mk1, the mk team made a wonderful job with them, if you don't like to watch them, simple, don't perform them, i get mad everytime someone flames mk for things like this -.-

Nan i hate using 1 fatality, and i think personal that they need at least 3 of them, i always do a fatality after i win, no matter what, unless i dont know the code, then i do the best thing after that, a High punch or a really week punch depending on what game.

Man people get soo mad when you just tap them and see them get knock over on a week move. lol

But no, no one fatality per person, and the MK team can do more with stages and all that, just they chose not too, and i doubt they focus everything on just the fatality's, also if they did try to do more with everything else, you will have people mad and mad people are more or less not going to buy the game, or will trade it in and come on MKO and whine about how bad the game is.

I mean if people are whining about how bad this MK game while its the best so far, well it wont look good if they revert back to MK1 times and use 1 fatality, (stage fatality not included)

But then again we wont know what really happens unless they did it.

I'm not flaming, I'm simply expressing my thoughts, and I have the right to bash this game if I feel like it. I've been supporting it since June 2010 and I have convinced three none MK players to purchase it. I'm also obsessed with it.

If you don't get sick of finishers that's great. But for people like me, they just get old and they don't add much substance to the game. I love the MK series for characters, story, tone, and the gameplay. Fatalities are really just a bonus for me, and without them it wouldn't matter much to my experience.

I'm also tired of fighting game die-hards saying these games are dumb and gimmicky. Mainly because of fatalities overshadowing gameplay. Hell, even casual players complain about them being to hard to pull off.

Do I hate finishers? No. But I wish NRS would use that time spent towards something else.

Gameplay=Timeless
Finishers= 2 months tops.

Yes and No....Yes, I get sick of seeing them if I'm playing for too long and I keep seeing them performed, but I haven't been playing a whole lot as of lately....so that's gone...but at the same time, No....Fatalities ALWAYS need to be in MK....like someone else said, if they weren't included there would be so much hell to pay.... I just wish that Animalities, Mercy, Friendships and Hara-Kiri's would have been included also, to mix it up some more

I don't mind the fatalities at all, but to be honest, after playing the game for this long now, I think they are an absolute waste of time. If I'm in KOTH, I don't want to see a fatality every single time someone wins, let's keep the pace up. The only time I do a fatality now is on KL, Raiden or Cyrax, LOL.

Babalities are the dumbest thing ever. Cute, yes. Needed, no.

He's voicing an opinion, not flaming please keep that in mind instead of acting like he has no right to voice his dissent.

It's an open ended discussion, agree or disagree.

My thoughts on the subject is yes, I'm a bit tired of people feeling the need to do them everytime they win, the game has been out for almost 6 months, cool or not, there's no need to do them everytime you win, like you've never seen them before.

The reason why I come back to this game is for the characters and gameplay, if those two things weren't good, I would not care how cool the fatalities were, I would have stopped playing it by now.

I don't care if everyone gets one or two fatalities, but two seems to be the standard. It's a feature that's apart of MK's unique flavor, not advocating it's removal, but it's not the reason why I play the games, there was a time during MK4-MKDeception where I never did fatalities.

I never do them when I'm playing online unless I'm playing a cheeser, I never do them when I have a good match up with someone( I consider it unneeded, wasting time, and it makes people not want to keep playing you from my experience and even on the cheesers, I've kind of stopped doing them as much.

Maybe you should post with the idea of showing that it is your opinion so you don't come off the wrong way.

Anyway, I don't get why people don't like fatalities anymore. If you have to die in any way or kill your opponent in any way.... wouldn't you rather watch an awesome brutal death 1,000 times or just watch you jabbing your opponent followed by the basic win-pose 1,000 times. I would rather watch the fatality.... sure it takes more time in the game to watch the fatality but it really puts an emphasis on my opponent's death.

Well, who else's opinion would I be expressing other than my own? I don't see how that can come off any other way to anyone. It's not like when YOU make a forum post, I get the inclination to think that you're including someone else's opinion other than your own. Not unless of course you share an account with someone.....

Fatalities are like tea bagging so they get rather obnoxious after a while. It's cool to watch them the first time, but after that they just get boring. Nevertheless, they are an important part of MK and should never disappear.

Perfectly said, i totally agree. While fatalities very much are a part of MK, I am so goddamn tired of seeing them online. They get so incredibly repetitive and obnoxious. Seeing a scorpion fatality now is like banging my head against a wall.

I've been saying it for years; Fatalities would not be anywhere near as repetitive as they have become if they went back to being quick kills, not masturbatory power-flaunting exercises. Bang, you're dead, you're done.

Used to be Johnny Cage took a second to punch a head off a body. Now it takes him the better part of twenty to split a head in half, stuff an Oscar in there, pose, and knock it over.

Don't get me wrong, stuff like that imbues the character with delicious personality. Most of 2011's fatalities are nice. But they get old quick for many, and using them online is just begging for a disconnect. A shame.

Is anyone else sick of cheese?

No really though, if you want a good fighting game, buy MK2011.

If you want a good fighting game nut don't care for fatalities, buy MK2011 anyway, casue it's still a good fighting game.

P.S. If you don't like them, don't do them.

P.P.S. I know if I don't include this I will get hate, so...

A fatality (or nything else of that nature) is the price you pay for losing a match.

Ah, fuck, I'll get hate no matter what.

I'm actually quite the opposite. Not only do I never tire of seeing fatalities, but I prefer to see them. When I'm in a KOTH room and i lose... I expect a fatality. If the winner doesn't perform a fatality I will give them less points for being too lazy to enter a simple button combination. The only way to get full respect points from me is to: Win, Perform a fatality or babality, Play fairly (no spamming) and good sportsmanship.

I can never get enough of them. As mentioned above, I prefer to see a fatality, either if I win or lose. If there are none (or if I fail to perform one), I get somewhat a little disappointed.

I actually enjoy the fatalities, it's one of the reasons why I love MK so much. Just seeing a simple "KO" like in Tekken and Street Fighter isn't enough for me sometimes; especially so when I'm having a really annoying ass match against somebody who clearly don't know what the hell they're doing, or wants to keep doing the same two moves over and over. Do I think they need to go back to the Fatality system from the previous games, where you had like 3secs to input them correctly? Absolutely. Do I think these new ones are a little too lengthy at times? Sometimes, yes. But all-in-all, I still think they're an important part of the game, and to me MK wouldn't be Mortal Kombat if I didn't have the option of finishing my opponent in some violent and gruesome fashion. I never get tired of seeing them, especially when I'm not on the receiving end! lol

Agreed 100%. They've really dumbed down the input leniency and lengthened the window to an absurd amount of time. I say if you screw up once, bam, you're done. You shouldn't get to see the fatality. That way it actually requires a little bit of skill.

Anyone who says fatalities are hard to pull of is just ass at video games. Sometimes I'll intend to do Mileena's, then change my mind mid-input and try to finish with the neckbite instead and I'll STILL get the fatality. That's how easy they are to do.

I don't think they should get rid of them altogether, but make them harder to do. That's the MK I remember from the good old days. And there should always be babalities or friendships or some finisher with strict criteria that lets your opponent know that not only did you beat them, but you beat them with one hand tied behind your back.
