The current costumes designs will likely change seeing as half the heroes were killed and ressurected on the other side (villain). I am happy with how scorpion turned out, he has a nice scorpion chest before he had a scorpion mask which i felt was too much. I want to see upgrades of character designs like this. Mad love for these concepts by BossLogic. When u see these designs u automatically recognise it although it is a different take on the character. That's what im hoping for in Mk x, a different take on said characters but u are still able to recognize who the hell it is. However i think the way it should go is less oversexualising of characters and promoting modesty. The characters that died it wouldn't make sense if they came back looking the same. It should be different like this:

So we have exclusive designs like these, which are different to original but still identifiable to the said characters

Hulked out Thor

Hulked out wolverine

Hulked out deadpool

Iron Spiderman

Iron Man Bleeding Edge

Injustice scorpion is slightly less terrible than MK9 Scorpion. Both of which suck when compared to every other Scorpion costume. (MKDC and MKDA are the best.) Both retain classic elements but update them and managed to actually look great. Plus he's not a walking scorpion.

Had to comment on Scorps and therefore in this thread..

The problem with modern Scorpion designs is that Scorpion as a character combines two separate concepts.

He's the only "ninja" in the cast who's an ACTUAL Japanese Ninjutsu clan member, which means you expect him to have authentic-looking reference to Japanese ninja in his look. (Keeping in mind that historical ninja were just people disguised as farmers and shit. We're talking about the pop culture version of ninja here, with the black robes and masks...)

And he's from Hell.

The problem really comes in that second thing, because Hell is open to interpretation, you have to ask "what does Hell look like in this universe"? And Mortal Kombat can't seem to decide what their Hell does look like.

Up until fairly recently, fashions from Mortal Kombat's Hell were very Heavy Metal in influence. Scorpion, Noob Saibot, Quan Chi and his Goth Chick slaves, they all wore bits and pieces of bondage-y spiked black leather and belts and shit like that.

All of a sudden, though, with the Xbox360/PS3 generation, the MKvsDCU, MK9, and Injustice games, they decided "Naw, Hell means H.R. Giger. The black parts of Scorpion's outfit need to look like a Xenomorph from Aliens. And his mask should be a straight-up facehugger trying to have sex with his mouth for some reason. That's not weird at all, right guys?" (But Quan Chi and Noob Saibot haven't changed, they still look totally Metal.)

And that's kinda dumb, to just suddenly change your art style after it's already been established for a long time. It also totally interferes with the ninja side of Scorpion's wardrobe because ninjas generally wear baggy clothes and tight rubbery shit that looks like the shell of an insect is kinda the opposite of that.
That said, I actually really like MK9 Scorp's alternate costume. The black underclothes totally capture the Japanese ninja aesthetic properly, while the gold over top still kinda has that spiky hellish shell look without interfering or looking too insect-y. The only problem with that one is the goofy mask that has little bug legs coming off of it looks way too cartoony.

To be honest all I really want from the next MK is Kitana in a hood. It would work with the whole Mileena has a veil thing.

Scorpion design is fine. He is a ninja first and foremost. Second he is a spectre which he demonstrates with his powers.

Jesus Christ, contemporary comic book art sucks.

I think the main problem is that they try to overdesign some stuff. Scorpion is such an example. Sub-Zero is less so, looking at his uniform which has alot plain surfaces.

I am glad that the whole MK4 and Mythologies design was thrown out. Not only was it brain damagingly awful, it wasn't cool to begin with. MK4 looked like a concert with Insane Clown Posse fans.

At least up until MK3 they had some restraint and used actual oriental inspired clothing. MK3 was substantially different on purpose, but Boon and Tobias seemed to think that cartoonish stuff would be a good idea.

MKDA rectified this somewhat. As did MKD design-wise, but some of the characters are inherently odd.

As long as the female character designs are approached with a 'how can I make this fighter look awesome' mentality rather than a 'what's the least amount of clothing I can get away with' mentality, I'll be happy enough with whatever they do.

Reptile needs to go back to a more human look. Like scorpion being a ninja first is big but he demonstrates his spectre underneath. Reptile should be a ninja with his Reptilian side being hidden underneath and used for his moves tongue

Lol i think reptilian reptile is way to go with tail and reptilian feet hands.

@keith

I don't know if u are pisstaking but female gladiators wore sandals or flats as we call them. I have posted flats and heels on links.

They wore Caliage (singular: Caliga). A little bit different than our current sandals. Why do you mention that?

Aside from that, Keith is right. Blatant fanservice is demeaning.

Yeah i did say flats. I mention it because they are too Americanised oversexualising. And flats can look really cool, at least the ones i compiled on links are.

people who get pissed about girls wearing heels in games are just odd. it happens in every game: ninja gaiden, street fighter, tekken.

Of course MK over sexualizes but it doesnt make a massive deal out of it. its like the Williams sisters in Tekken: over sexualized but really, who cares?

There is no dlc for 'moves'. There is dlc for costume designs. So more emphasis on costume designs. Also nrs would look at costume designs rather than moves. They can look at costume designs and say 'yeah we like that' 'no we don't like that'. That's why i have compiled modest and stylish designs for females from fashion week around the world. designs by Giorgio Armani and Versace etc. And also female shoes flats and heels. These are better than nrs's because they don't have a budget whereas nrs does. Costume designs is also very important that's why they release costumedesigns as dlc. The designs in document is from fashion designers all over the world as its not just London fashion week or Paris fashion week. Its compiled from Tokyo fashion week to Melbourne fashion week its designs from all over the world. You would have known this if u looked inside the doc. There is just so much more they could do. this would give them inspiration and not idiotic costumedesigns like mileena in cloth.

Yeah but just because every fighting game does it, doesn't make it right nor does it mean MK has to follow it. And pointing to a more overt source of sexualization doesn't negate the amount in in MK.

And it's far more than just high heels in combat. All of the male characters are designed with their character's attributes in mind first and foremost. The female characters are designed with their gender in mind first and foremost and it's obvious.

As for not making a massive deal out of it, well...the reward for the 300 mission Challenge Tower in MK9 was a practically naked Mileena costume. Mileena herself was heavily used to promote the game, no doubt more likley due to her moaning and groaning than her 'intricate backstory' or special moves and every female characters' 'battle-damage' effect resulted in their already tiny costumes falling apart as much as possible. Sure there are worse examples of video game sexism out there but that doesn't give MK a free pass.

It's not just fighting games, pretty much every other game over sexualizes their female characters. There's like 2% of games out there that has their women looking very natural.

Tomb raider is perfect example of class and style. Her designs not oversexualised at all and they didn't even make her boobs big.

I might be in the minority here, but I really liked a lot of the costumes in Deception.

Exceptions being: Darrius Alt, Kobra Alt, Mei Ling Main.

But I too liked Deception... with the exception of Sub-Zero, who is my all-time favorite. This is the only game I never cared for his looks. Well, the Shredder one is at least a heck of a lot better than that damn ponytail look of his.

The document has classy and stylish designs. If u like tomb raider lara croft sweet and sexy outfits that are modest. Then that's the kind of stuff inside doc.

Loved the costumes in Deception. Easily my favorite design-wise, with MKDA being a close second.

*looks at Icebaby's post above

Ok,when it comes to minority, I think I am easily beyond the minority when it comes to Sub-Zero's ponytail alt. I think I am actually the only one in the WORLD that actually liked that costume.

I liked both Sub-Zero's main and alternate costume in Deception as it was a breath of fresh air from the old man unmasked and masked Sub-Zero from Deadly Alliance.

The costumes in documents are all DHV. So i don't understand why MK needs to be continue being DLV.

I'm sorry, but the topic creator thinks MKX should have less oversexualized characters? The same guy who wanted Red Sonja as a guest character, wants undersexualized characters? Okay then....

Since MK(2011) had redesigns of the original MK1-3 outfits (more or less), then I'd love to see some redesigns of the 3D era outfits in the next MK. ^^
