kai, like most things in mk4, came from a strong idea but was never fully developed. he has an interesting story, he looks cool, and i like some of his special moves. sadly he is mk4, though, so odds are pretty bad he will be in this mk. at least they made him better in armageddon than he was in mk4.

I prefer the MK4 version to the Armageddon version, personally. I don't think the cornrows and scruffy beard fit his personality very well, that weird armor he's wearing in his primary just doesn't look like anything or make any sense, and not finding a way to give him a Handstanding or Capoeira fighting style was a missed opportunity.

Sadly Kai like most characters MK 4 - Armageddon is a character that lacks SEVERE character development. Make an appearance in one game then get dropped from all future games so when the "all in" game comes along no one gives a crap about them

Kai, wasn't he Lui Kang's apprentice? And wait, didn't Bo'Rai'Cho teach Lui Kang and seriously MK Team, that was the dumbest thing to do to a story having a joke character like be in connection with Lui Kang....hmmm...maybe Kai can be Bo'Rai'Cho's apprentice in this one....lol...all kidding aside, Kai doesn't really have much of a story other than he's Lui Kang's apprentice

Perhaps that's true for MK4, but not for MKDA-MKA. As far as development goes, half those characters ran circles around Scorpion and Jax.

I strongly doubt Kai is going to be DLC. The team is going to pick a character they know is going to sell; don't see that happening with Kai. I'd be surprised if most casual fans even recognized him. I like Kai, but even I would rather see other characters. DLC would most likely be bosses like Goro or future-installment characters like Blaze.

No, because he's not part of the MK 1-3 timeline. It'd be sweet if they added Tanya or Fujin and possibly Kai. Kai was cool. Not a favorite, but he was alright. I never cared for his second fatality where he blows your head off with one of his projectiles. His body rip, however, that was sweet.

Aside from Kenshi, Mavado, Frost, Kira, Sareena all new characters from MKDA - MKA were HORRIBLE

Darrius, Dairou, Hsu - Hao, Bo Rai Cho, Ashra, Shujinko, Nitara, some of the worst characters ever

I do agree with you that a lot of the characters in MKDA-MKA are uninspired, Kai doesn't qualify because he was introduced in MK4

I like Kai, but if they end up continuing this new "enlightened Raiden" past this upcoming game and they bring MK4 characters into the fold for the a possible MK10, I would like to see him there. And I would love for him to have a Capoeira element to his fighting.

The first 3 in the list were solid quality. Bo Rai Cho has a rather rich history outside of his own games, and he played a huge part in the battle against Onaga. Ashrah had design flaws, but at least she was well integrated into the series with an assortment of rivalries. Nitara, while somewhat random in nature, still had a good design. But also...



Though I don't like Mavado, I get why people like him. But Frost and Kira? They were the weakest links in their respective games.

If they can add those white Zebra stripes on him again. With his Retro outfit. I'm all for it. Quan chil will def be DLC. His render for MK vs DCU will most likely be used this time. Hopefully.

I acan't see Kai making the cut at all. Besides a new look in MKA, he has nothing to add to the series.

Id luv 2 hav Kai in the next game. I dont really kno him as a character other than him being a member of the White Lotus Society but i really liked playing as him in MK: A. I dont get the hate for nearly all characters past MK3...Most of those characters didnt even hav any type of character development until later in the series. While my fav will always be JADE, i also enjoyed playing as later new characters. In fighting games, ive noticed that ppl tend 2 not like characters they cant play with so maybe thats the problem...
