I hate the fact that the screen gets dark and most of the arena disappears when performing a fatality.
It looks ridiculous, especially in the deadpool stage.
Please mk team change this.

I don't know about you but generally people watch the fatalities and don't sit there and look at the background, in case you didnt notice the screen gets darker to focus the players attention to watching the fatality.

Hmmm, I think you could be right.
I honestly haven't really paid much attention to it. Give me a second and I'll watch a HD clip.
.................
OK, I honestly don't think is bad, but, maybe it could look better if the arenas just got very dark and didn't entirely disappear on the back. I don't think its a big deal, but it might get a little too boring to see after a while.
Being able to see different stages while doing the same fatalities is a good thing, so, yeah, maybe you've got a point.

When I saw the trailer, I was acutally Happy that there wasnt any darkness when Sub-Zero was about to get ripped apart. The full lighting gives a very present and gritty feel and not some cinematic spectacle, which it is, It takes it and pute it into a different perspective.
Not to bring up anything we dont need to go look at, but I have, while scowering the vast internet, actually come across a few videos of Live deaths either by cops, accidents or terrorism.
When you see gore and blood on a well lit concrete or sandy surface, its one of the most heavy impacts you could ever see. When I seen full lighting in MK, I got really damn excited for fatalities.
I say have an option for "on" or "off" in the "Options" Menu. Easy to impliment and everybody can be happy.

You play in the stage for about 2 minutes straight so why care about seeing it when the main focus of the fatality is to ONLY see the two characters? Why look away to be like "awesome stage man.."? If you wanna see the stage turn on a second controller and just stand in one place to see the stage. Leave the darkening out of the level out of it because it's always going to be there.

I like this idea alot actually. I mean yea it has always gotten dark during the fatalities, but I do think it would be nice to be able to see the backgrounds. Especially the ones with spectators, like Shao Kahn's arena. It would be cool to see the crowd react to what is happening.
This is how I see it broken down over the course of the series:
MK1 through MK3 (UMK3/MKT): Background darkens, but is still visible (excluding background fatalities).
MK4 (MK Gold): Screen doesn't change at all (only MK where none of the fatalities had a darkened backdrop)
MK Deadly Alliance through MK VS DC: Ground stays light while backdrop COMPLETELY disappers (aside from a background element/prop or two).
I personally prefer the MK1-MK3 style myself. I think just dimming it works the best. But I do have to agree that it looked good staying light in Kahn's Arena. That stage has always looked foreboding to begin with

I agree. I think I've already complainted about this twice.
Backgrounds are too beatiful for them to just dissappear. It adds to the fatality.

So you are a relative newb to the MK series then. Personally, I don't mind the darkening of the arenas during a fatality, but I kind of liked the MK4 style of the screen clearing the health bars, keeping the backgrounds, but focusing on the fatality itself.

I'm a fan since the early 1990's. MK4 style fatalities looked great. But I'm not fond of the MKDA-MKA presentation. We are talking about FULL darkening of the stages here - it simply sucks. And... it's NOT a classic feature. In MK1-MK3, you can see most of the background during fatalities.
I guess it's a matter of personal taste. In MK9, I'd like to see an option disabling the darkening of the stage. They have it in the E3 fatality demo montage, why not in the final product?

Well... I like the getting dark part. It brings the focus more to the fatality. But I like it more like in the original MKs. That you still can see the background vagely.
But I don't like the new way that much either (ie only the floor visible). Should be something in between original and current.
Let it darken about 40% and desaturate the background/environment (maybe around 80%) and only leave the characters in colors (and blood of course).

Leave some background in because the fatality needs a little backdrop or else it always feels the "same" and very detatched.

This is where I stand too.
I've always liked the cinematic "spotlight" feel of darkening the background but not the characters...but making the background disappear entirely makes the scene look too bland. They should just DIM the lights, not go completely black.

This is the dumbest rant I've ever heard. How can you not like it and call yourself an MK fan? leave it be. This is how Mortal Kombat is meant to be don't fuck it up for the rest of us.

The screen turning dark is no problem. The problem is that the whole stage disappears. On the deadpool stage you just see the bridge on the ground. They should keep it like the beginning of the fatality, just dim the lights.
Look at kung Lao's deadpool fatality. It looks like the bridge is flying in the air, you see no chains no dead bodies, nothing...

Actually thats exactly what I was thinking. In Deadly Alliance and Deception they had a switch in the options screen that allowed you to control how much blood was in the game during the fighting. They already have the code in for darkening the backdrop. As you stated it would be very easy to add the option of dark or light fatality backdrop.
"Let me see if I got this right... You want the MK team to remove the element that has been with MK since it was born? The element the everybody likes and/or loves?" Did you even read his post? He wants the arenas to stop going pitch black. Back in MK - MKG you could still see the damn stage when you did a fatality. Since MKDA, you haven't been able to.

Considering that this user only has 1 visit. This is obviously a troll thread. No MK fan would seriously be that stupid
Now as for Fatalities, kinda going off topic but I REALLY hope that we get new Fatality music in this game and not the lame one they used for MK vs. DC Universe as you heard in some of the preview videos. Also I hope they change the ugly ass menus and again not use the same ones from MK vs. DC
