This XD

Yeah, no function. According to designer interviews, they never got around to actually making it useful for anything.

About Me
Skarlet : Kunoichi warrior, Kodachi master, Kunai expert.

In a pratical way, there is not usefulness for that, but, I think it's cool anyway .... NRS did the game 2D, but since use the 2.5D technology, the flip stance was put purposely to make you see the model in all angles, and, can be a kind of taunt, doing "flip dance" inside the match, hehe ..... other than that , it's a cool feature, once you are bored with a stance, you change to the other, hehe.
Anyway, I agree, one of the most useful stuff for that, is take a look in Mileena,Jade,Kitana,Sonya,Sindel and Sheeva asses, what is cool nonetheless, hehe.
I want see Skarlett long legs with this command, once she come in MK 2011.

Well, from what I understood when Ed Boon was asked about this in an interview (can't remember which one, but it was quite recently), he sad they put the Flip Stance into the game, because they didn't have any other things to put into that last button - so instead of having it stay empty, they kept the Flip Stance in.
I would personally have preferred a Taunt button or something alike, but oh well.

That would require taunts. :)
Even without going that far, I can think of other uses. Like single button X-Ray activation or even being able to map the finisher of your choice to it.

Keep flipping. There's your taunt......or shout down the mic.

I rate the best use is dancing around instead of doing a fatality when playing online and you really want to piss someone off.

Yup pretty much deciding whether you want to look at the females tits or asses during the fight

AHA!!!
I found out what the Flip Stance is good for!
This is what I read in Gamespot's MK Primer Guide:
"Flip Stance
The Flip Stance button will switch which hand and foot is used for attacks. This is typically not needed in most matches. However, during matches with kodes, Test your Luck, and the Challenge Tower you may find various limbs disabled or severed. In these cases you'll want to flip stances in order to attack with your working body parts."
That rather makes sense. So if your character is missing the left leg, which is typically the leg you use for Front Kick when being starting as Player 1 and facing the screen, you can't do Front Kick attacks, because that leg is missing! So you have to switch positions using the Flip Stance, so your Front Kick will be your right leg, the leg you still have, and THEN you can do Front Kick attacks!

That makes sense, but couldn't you just do a back kick? I don't have the game yet, so forgive me if not.

Certain moves require you use a certain button. Front Kick is a button where you use your front leg to kick with. If that leg is missing, you can't kick with it... understandably. :P
However, if you flip your stance, then it will be your back leg which is missing, but you will have your front leg to do Front Kick moves with.

Have anyone tried to use the flip stance button on the select character screen.
Maybe it is like MKT (when you press select on Rayden, Kung lao, Kano and Jax, they turn into MK1, MK2 characters) Maybe it flips to a boss and why is there a hidden cursor (maybe like MK4 when you press block and run button while you have a hidden cursor on Shinnok you turn into Goro?)
