I preordered the ke from Amazon. Don't have to go get it that way, plus Scorpion and Sub-Zero's look fine in their 2011 version anyway.

Palette swaps? Sounds very nostalgic.

I am so pleased they have used the MK2 ninjas. Seeing as it's Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Reptile, I thought that they would go for the klassic MK1 ninjas. I have to get mine from Amazon seeing as I live in the UK. Hope they all come out as DLC.

These ARE the MK1 costumes.
MK2 costumes would have skintight hoods, plastic vented masks and kneepads.

It is no palat swap, as every different pre-order gets its own pallet swap then you still only possess one...
If i'm not mistaken a pre-order is unique and won't be downloadable.
So its not a pallet swap, its something unique as you don't et reptile, sub-zero or scorpion in the same game.

The classic costumes will definitely be DLC at some point down the road. So that's not even a thing.

So you are saying you feel like you are in a time where you would be playing a good 2D MK game as opposed to any of the shitty 3D games they have made a.k.a all of them so far

Don't try to start shit. Most of us here like the 3D games and aren't some fairweather fan who never posted before and only showed up when we heard they were going back to 2D..

MK 2D games>>>>>>>>>>>Mk 3D games. Now YES this is my personal opinion YET it's pretty much a quality thing. MK 2 & UMK3 alone in my opinion slays the 3D games.

I'm not upset about it.
Remember, these are 3rd costumes. We'll have two variations of the character, with new and cool designs. This is a throw back to the old-days. I dig it :).
What I don't dig is that we have to purchase the game from three different fuckin' retailers to get them all.

You don't have to, they confirmed they'll release them as DLC after the game is out.

True. But they'll have a price, and have been delayed.

Oh boy!!! Can't wait to see what sub-zero looks like.
but in all seriousness I kinda like the idea of the pallet swap. It brings back memories.

Oh, you silly goose. You know the year 71394 isn't for another 69383 years.
You crazy, man.

Call it wishful thinking. After all, I'd much rather be talking to a time traveler than some high schooler who wasn't even born yet when MK1 and 2 first came out.

There's a Doctor Who episode in here somewhere.
Not surprised.
Still I hoped that maybe each ninja will have different classic ninja outfit. Scorpion - UMK3, Sub-Zero - MK1 or MKM, Reptile - MK2. Something like that.
Though this costumes looks like a combination of all three - head form the MK1, body - from MK2 and guards - from UMK3.
So far Reptile looks the best.

The body of the costume in MK1 and in MK2 looked the same. The quilt pattern is just a lot harder to see in MK1 so people aren't always aware it was there.
And the arm and shin guards in UMK3 all had a colored plate with shapes like a V and two lines cut out of them to match the skull-like pattern on the mask from that game.
Seriously guys, there's been no mixing and matching here, this is a straight recreation of the MK1 costume.

Anyone mind photoshopping a quick Sub-Zero skin? I'd do it myself, but I'm visiting my dad's for the week. Nothin' but oldschool MS Paint here.

I happen to think the different retailer thing is stupid as hell simply because nobody wins that way. What's in it for the retailers? They get the preorders from fans of that particular character but lose the preorders of other fans to rivals. So it's a coin toss whether or not they're better off.
But the good news is that on our end nothing changes. Assuming we'll eventually be getting all the costumes via DLC, all that changes is which one we get free. I guess it matters to somebody who doesn't plan to buy all the DLC but those of us who will buy it all nothing changes since we pay the same amount regardless of which costume we get free.
Which I guess confirms how dumb the multiple retailer thing is since it serves no purpose.
Also, TheGecko did some great palette swaps on page 1. Check his link.
