Groovy for the Scorpion fans but I'll be sticking with the Reptile Pre-order.

So does anyone want to take bets on how long it takes Best Buy to release a render for the Sub-zero Kostume?

Pallette swapping is what made mortal kombat great.

I couldn't be happier that they are doing this.

I think it looks better on scorpion. I hope they add a couple of details. any chance this costume will replace the chain with a normal rope and use the scorpion axe instead of the sword? :P

Remember how some of you guys were clamoring for shitty palette swaps to come back? I hope you're enjoying this!

Seriously,I love how they didn't even bother changing his pose. IT'S ALMOST AS IF I'M BACK IN 1993.

I'm glad it's a palette swap and not some other "classic" design like the shitty UMK3 costume with the squares and bright yellow ass. (Though if the UMK3 costume was in this game I'd STILL select that alt instead of his primary)

The quilted pattern looks so much better on Scorpion than it does on Reptile or any other character anyway. I consider it "his look." I've been pissed his primary doesn't have it like he did in MKvsDCU ever since we first saw what Scorpion's main costume looks like. Those black jagged patterns he's got instead just look dumb to me.

Well it is cool and it was clear... But the Reptile skin is looking better in my eyes. I'm going with Amazon.

Well, i knew this was going to happened, as well as other people in the form. That guy that made the color changes to the classic reptile was right on.

Anyway its good to know its not a new model, otherwise i think fan will say its bull that its now mandatory to buy those skins, however i think the fatalitys are going to be whats downloaded when this stuff goes on sale.

That being said can't wait for the game.wow Edit: it looks like his elbew seems to have a scab! 0.0

is the mkvsdcu costume going to be his alt? it was in the shadows trailer or something similar to it...

Who knows what was going on with the Shadows trailer, maybe the group that animated it started before Scorpion's MK9 design was finalized so they just used the MKvsDC one instead. Maybe MKvsDC will be his alt.

Alt costumes are usually a lot more different from the primaries than that, though.

well I guess we'll have to see, I wouldn't mind it. It could be used in the story mode the alt being an updated mk1/2 and the primary being somewhat of an updated mk3 look while the classic costumes obviously being dlc. I don't see them making the alternate costumes too different though.

I think this comment really makes these klassic outfits interesting, beyond just aesthetics:

MK_MortalKombat: Fatalities and play style are unique. RT @DRapture17: @masterdave110 @MK_MortalKombat I expected a lot more than just a mere color change.

So apparently the play styles of these outfits are unique...interprit that as you wish. Personally, makes me think back to MKTrilogy where you could choose classic versions of the characters, and their moves were straight out of that game. It'd be weird if that's the case, but I can't think of what else that could mean.

Hmm so scopion will have just teleport punch, and spear? hmm Maybe the spear will be on a rope like the old version. Hmm i don't know they could but i think they ment that the char. will move diffrently then just a pallet swap. Say like you can tell its scopion because of the way he moves, ect.

Yeah possibly, it'd make more sense that way. The wording was so vague that it made me think it implied the outfit had a unique play style in comparison to everything else in the game, but most likely meant it was different than the Reptile and Sub ones in terms of play style. I'm still curious as to how they are gonna work in his swords during his moves and fatalities...

Good point, they could go magic swords or the render is just a rough job and their is more 'minor' details implemented in game. Or the alt. costumes can have alt move sets...O_o.

i dont think we`ll have different outfits with different play styles, i doubt it since the NRS team is too lazy releasing new info, imho.

I think the Tweet pretty clearly meant that even though the classic costumes are palette swaps, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile still play completely different from one another, so people shouldn't get hung up on the identical-ness. Not that alt costumes can somehow come with alt movesets. That's not really possible.

Marketing team =/= Development team

Jus because WB has a different approach when it comes to marketing the game and revealing new info, does not mean the actual game is suffering from laziness. If anything, the development team has gone above and beyond expectations this time around, paying extensive attention to details and offering up a great visual and gameplay experience. Nobody has any reason to complain about the game, just because info isn't being released as soon as they want it.

It is clearly for nostalgia. I am happy they are doing the color swaps because that was a part of the phenomenon that is Mortal Kombat. I wonder if they will do the same with Kitana & Mileena? (except for Mileena's teeth/face of coarse)

These classic costumes are nuts! After seeing the Reptile skin I was worried I should have pre-ordered from Amazon instead of Gamestop but this Scorpion skin is perfect! I absolutely love it it makes me happy I decided to order my $150 Tournament Edition from Gamestopgrin
i was kind of hoping for something like reptile gets the mk2 ninja look scorpion would get the mk3 look and subzero gets the mk1 ninja look or something to that effect, at least to add some varity

@ Razor

From a technical standpoint, theres no reason why an alt attire couldn't have unique animations/movesets. It's far from impossible. Improbable? Yes.

It is no palat swap, as every different pre-order gets its own pallet swap then you still only possess one...

If i'm not mistaken a pre-order is unique and won't be downloadable.

So its not a pallet swap, its something unique as you don't et reptile, sub-zero or scorpion in the same game.
