I noticed something that makes me alittle...sad.
In the trailer I noticed Shao Kahn's model is exactly the same as MK vs DCU. Maybe it was just a place holder but tbh I doubt it. The MK team are known for recycling character models but dang it now they have WB and their money backing them so they need to put that extra effort into it. The studio is named after the game for god sakes. Also Subby's head is the same too.

As i said in another post, I have never seen a mortal kombat debut trailer where the end product was not different than the trailer.
Eg. MK Vs. DC they changed sub zeros head.

They've never really changed the way Shao Kahn looks so it doesn't bother me.

I think it was obvious they would re-use some models from MKVSDC and I really don't see what's the big deal. I loved how Kahn looked in MKVSDC, not to mention he hardly changes from game to game anyway.
I personally think we have been spoiled with drastic character changes from game to game. A lot of other games don't change their characters much. Sure, the art style may change and upgrade, but for the most part the basic design remains the same.
I think it's fine he looks the same. It's a pretty effective design anyway, so I wouldn't change much to begin with, unless we were going for a Kahn that was playing a completely different role (remember when we first thought Hsu Hao was Shao Kahn with a drastically different look due to loss of power?). Other than that, I think he and the other characters are ok the way they are.

While I am not bothered with Cage, hell, famous people can make stupid skin decoration choices... Madonna for example... Reptile looks unappealing to me.

Chrome and I agree on something for once. I'm not digging that tribal looking chest armor on Reptile at all, and I definitely prefer the Shaolin Monks "wrapped in black gauze" look to a hood and mask like all the other ninjas wear, especially since hoods like that just look weird when they aren't connected to a shirt or anything.

I hated his Shaolin monks look, like someone decided to prank him by replacing his ninja gear with a ski mask. It looked ridiculous, and while it looked a little bit better in the game itself, I've always preferred Ninja Reptile. My favorite costume will always be his alt MK4 outfit where he wore the bright green ninja gear and the dark green lizard skin.

I honestly believe that Reptiles look for this game is the reptile to please all reptile fans. Hes got a little bit from every look or era of reptile in the games. You can tell he enough to seem like a ninja with the mask, got the tribal on his chest for the lizard fans, and the facial features are kind of a mix between shaolin monks and mk4. This brings it all together. I love this look for him.
Shao Kahn has always looked the same, Red armor, skull mask and semi tarkatan hints on his face. Id expect and want him to look exactly as he does now.

Even though I really enjoy Reptiles new design, I felt the say about the ninja hood. But if you check out this picture, http://i46.tinypic.com/35mk6rn.jpg you can see that his hood actually attaches to a large collar around his neck. The only problem with this, is that the collar matches the color of his skin, so It isn't very noticeable. If they would fix that, I think it would make his costume a little bit better.

Well I loved his MKSM costume, thought it was the best he's ever had. But that's not really important.
I'm just saying the gauze would fit the theme of this costume better than that hood does I think. A skintight hood really looks silly all by itself not coming from a shirt, and since the weird chestplate thing makes him look less like a ninja and more primitive and tribal (like his Deadly Alliance alt which I never liked)...the gauze would've fit that "savage" theme better.
I hope his alt looks much more like a ninja. I'd like for his scales to be turned the color of flesh too like a chameleon power, y'know the old "human disguise". They did that in his Player 2 costume in SM's vs mode and it looked pretty cool.
See, In the early games, Reptile was trying to look just like Scorp and Subbie because he's a master of disguise, he was trying to blend in or be confused for one of them so nobody at the tournament would notice or think twice about it if they happened to catch a glimpse of Shang's secret bodyguard.

I don't think that's cloth the color of his skin, I think that is his skin. There's just an empty space between the hood and the breastplate's first strap around his neck.

I agree though, i think the wraps around his face would look alot better for this new costume. I do like the design of the mask, but you're right in that it would look much better if it went with the more classical MK ninja design. That is what I'm hoping Scorpions primary costume will be, pretty much an updated version of the MK1 ninja. Nothing too fancy, just a simple and effective costume with a muted color scheme.

A fair point but that's why I said I wanted it for his alt rather than his primary. As a just for fun kind of throwback thing.

Kind of like his alt. in Shaolin Monks. I can dig it.

The game is still pretty early and that model is most likely placeholder, especially considering the fact that it doesn't match up with the render's look. It still looks great regardless, so it's not a big deal IMO. Don't fix what ain't broken, as they say.

Johnny Cage's tattoo is great for him. He's supposed to be a complete tool.
remember how in MKDA he parachuted down to Raiden's base with a bunch of fanfare? Only Johnny Cage would do that.

Reptile looks more like a falcon than a reptile.
