Incomplete in the sense that the final output damage has yet to be tweaked for balancing. I agree with you. I'm not ruling out the possibility that the actual motion-captured animations are incomplete, but I wouldn't base that possibility on the damage the X-rays currently do.

Those characters may like range and speed such as the Gief.

How can u say its incomplete and they have been showing her doing the same thing since E3.NightWolf has a two hit,Kung Lao has two hits,Sub-Zero has two hits.I guess what I'm saying is thats her X-ray like it or not.

I loved the video but like most people I do wish a few things were a bit different.

- Baraka needs to go back towards his MK2 look... It was much better in my opinion then the breastplate and his MK4 look which made him just look like a psycho went silly inside a Home Depot.....
- Liu Kang needs to lose the belt if you ask me. Not as a "not win MK" type thing which honestly I don't care which direction they take with that part of the story but the belt on his appearance just looks goofy as hell....


I really enjoyed Ermac's X-Ray. The whole thing came together perfectly if you ask me. Cyrax's is also pretty amazing even though it has been seen before, the piledriver still hurts me a bit when I see it.

Stryker looks really good also from the bit of him I could catch in that. I like how they DIDN'T take the 100% Chris Redfield route. I remember entering m0s3pH's room and he showed me the video and told me "Stryker is in it" and I was like "wait..... what?!?!?!? YES"

And while NRS has failed to market anything well EVER........ this video is enough to hold me over for a while. Hopefully we get a Stryker video next though.



Might I suggest an Xbox 360 instead so you can play Mortal Kombat

WOW! I was texted about this earlier from my MKO facebook subscription. A lot of interesting stuff here. Ermac has a pretty bad ass X-ray, but Goro's appears to be one of the most gruesome IMO. That one was Amazing!!!

I don't like how you cant see Mileena's teeth in her X-Ray anymore.

This is probably one of the reason of he looking cooler this time. This and the two handguns of course.





I think that every x-ray should incorpore at least one signature move or weapon, scorpion and most of the cast do it, but some of them like Mileena doesn't, I think she should start with some special move or incorporate one to the fatality.

I'm just a little disappointed that characters like Liu Kang, Goro, Ermac and Jade are making their video debuts in such a... lacking fashion...

I mean... X-ray's are wicked cool. But these characters deserve their own specific videos.

Regardless, I can't fuckin' wait for this game. :)

Remember, NRS likes to tease first and then finish with some type of general video about them.

Doing that with every character though makes it lose its "charm". Some big reveals with a render + video would be nice, for some characters.

This is true. I remember a time when you couldn't even mention MK on friiging GAMEFAQS of all places without people popping up to go LOL MORTAL KOMBAT LOL. It's strange, but UMK3 at the least it seems really got competitive acceptance at some point, then the hate died down a little.

I've seen some hate for the game there, but a surprising amount of love, too, and amazingly, a number of folks who preordered the TE stick. This one's winning a lot of fans.

I can't believe I registered on this board for to post this, but is anyone else thinking that the x-ray specials a bit overdone? I mean, when you get your skull cracked or you liver crushed, shouldn't you be out of the fight? Now I realize that MK is not and has never been about pseudo-realistic fights like some other games, but just standing up und continuing the fight after some of those x-rays? Isn't that kind of ruining the suspension of disbelieve?

Of course, MKvsDC had some specials that should kill anyone, too. But that game also had Sonya beating up Captain Marvel, so you just didn't take such stuff to seriously. I just feel that in MK9, I could be left scratching my had after Kitana put her fans into my fighters skull, why on earth can he (or she) still fight on?

One simple phrase to live by.......ITS MORTAL KOMBAT.

You can not use the phrase "take it seriously" and the words Mortal Kombat in the same sentence. Remember Baraka's little slice and dice from MK2? Thats just one of many example of MK going over the top on a move that would certainly kill you before the end of the fight.

Edit: Kitana puts her fans through your eye sockets and you keep going like nothing happened. Maybe this is the one I have a bit of an issue with but it certainly does not make me go "oh there goes all this realism out the window".

1. STRYKER MAN, STRYKER'S IN!!! He looks like a boss, nice mix of old and new, love the hand cuffs, S.W.A.T. hat

2. Liu Kang's X-ray looks cool, love how they added the cartwheel kick to it.

3.Ermac's X-ray is beautifully brutal, I didn't realize his outfit had more red to it, I intially thought it was predominantly black, awesome.

4. Goro's X-ray makes me cringe, very pleased by that and Goro in general.

5. Baraka looked pretty good in his MKvDC appearence, I'm cool with that look returning.

6. I hope the sketal Shokan model is also being used for Sheeva, cannot wait to see what they've done with her.

Easily one of the best updates, ever.







The X-rays are no more outrageous than Sonya breaking someone's neck mid- fight, Sub-zero freezing someone in ice would kill someone from the cold, especially if he hit you right after; Scorpion burning people mid-fight etc. Mortal Kombat has always had those over the top specials that would kill most people, normal people. That's just how they roll.

Hell also Street fighter and Soul Calibur arent anymore realistic than MK.

I honestly think that's Stryker's character model. His face is too detailed to be a throwaway Test Model, and it doesn't look like any other character but Stryker.

Is it just me or is that Kintaro at the 0:32 mark? It's the X-ray move immediately after they show the ribcage models and right after Steve Beran says "Trying to perfect how the skeleton looked and what the effects were."

The character seems to be snapping his opponent's spine over his own back. I don't think I've seen any other character do that move, so it may be someone new.

I think it's Kintaro because of the bald head, shape of the ears, and the muscular torso. NEVERMIND!! I looked closer and I figured out that it's actually Jax.

A little late to the party, but very pleased with the update.

Standouts were definitely Goro and Ermac. Goro's is brutal, that head-crunch is sickening. Ermac's was just flashy as hell, I love it. That little camera angle showing him floating above the guy is excellent.

Kitana's seems nice, but I wish we had seen all of it. All we know is she stabs them twice and there's a teleport in there somewhere.

I actually liked seeing Stryker, which put me in a blank-faced state of self-analysis for a few minutes. I'm liking the Redfield-inspired changes to his costume, as I was a big fan of Chris in the last RE game. If he doesn't have coarse blond hair coming out in tufts from under the hat (and if IceBaby stops with the posts), I think I'll actually have to give this dude a go when the game comes out.

Liu Kang looks better than I expected, which is good. Can't be too excited about seeing him, but I won't deny he looks the best he's ever looked, so great start.

thats got to be the best video we have had in ages! Liu Kang is the best hes ever looked and my good ermac stole the show for me and dare I say his possibly my favourite ninja now.
this really makes me want to see Sindels X-ray attack, I would still love to see my idea of her wrapping her hair around the rib cage cracking it then screaming directly into the face bursting the eardrums
