Mortal Kombat has to keep with the times. A deep combo system such as this complete with juggles, going in and out of the air, is what the game needs. I haven't played the game, but I have to trust what they say in the interviews regarding the system. It seems highly impressive and caters to higher level players. Casual players still have special moves at their disposals and the easier to use combos. That's the way a good fighting game ought to be.

As for crediting users, it's really no big deal and no one should be concerned about it. We appreciate everyone who sends us in links or makes threads on the forum, but we can't thank everyone every single time. It's best to just not be concerned with something like that.

We now have the trailer up to stream/download directly from MKO. Enjoy.

as mentioned in my last post, he's way to bulky! he's almost as big as jax if not bigger. Id like to see him slimmed down similar to kung laos body type.

Totally 100% agree. Too many characters are on steroids in Mortal Kombats after MK4.

Maybe I'm having too much faith in the Mkteam, but I highly doubt there will be infinites this time around. With all the time they're spending on this game, I SERIOUSLY doubt it. And if there are a few, they have online patches now. They shouldn't rely on that, but you know people get sneaky. I STILL don't think your gameplay should be limited to just 3-4 hits. Not only that, we have breakers. Bear in mind that none of the opponents utilized their breakers. If you sit through all of that without so much as breaking it once, that's your fault.

Way too much faith in the team. When this game comes out there will be 100 percent combos, there will be infinites, there will be broken moves, and there will be god like characters. Its the Mortal Kombat team making a new fighting engine. It's going to have its flaws. However, I'm not too worried because they did say they can patch the game on the fly.

All games are shipped with bugs, that's just a fact of life. At least in this day and age, patching is available via the internet.

dude seriously! sub-zero is way too huge. he has the ability to freeze, he doesn't need to be as big as the hulk. no way this version of sub-zero could pull off the elbow/knee/roundhouse kick combo from MK3/MKM. That's the sub-zero i want.

So nobody notices the stiff animation and the cheapness of some of those combos? sad

Complaining that there are stiff animations in a Mortal Kombat game at this point is like complaining that the sky is blue. "cheapness" is subjective.
My biggest complaint is the stupid fucking jump punches from MKDC are back

I was just looking at the post Predator just posted... Unmasked Sub-Zero baffles me... not look and clothes but his fighting stance is way different.. instead the defence move stance.. he has the boxer thing going in his motion... why is that? Glad this stance never returned... thank god.

I think the slowness is a gimic to show off his moves.. i mean seriously... if they played the video at regular speed.. you would find yourself constantly pausing alot.

I could be wrong... but i think we'll be happy at the end results... i love his fighting style and his combos are badass!

I'm more sike than ever... to play him.

I'm not digging his fat look. The MK4 models were also in 3D and none of them looked fat.

I thought with them being with Warner Bros. now they could actually afford some real VO talent.... that didnt happen.

I like his MKvsDCU VA. It would probably fit older, Deadly Alliance Subbie better, but still, I think Sub-Zero was depicted very well in that game, and from the sound of this dialogue, he'll be done justice. I really like the referring to the tournament as "folly", like he really doesn't want to be there, thinks the whole thing's a waste of time, probably thinks his brother dying in the first one was a dumb way to go. Seems like how an assassin would view a martial arts tournament to me, like "I got better things to do than play games."

I think it looks amazing. His combos look absolutely awesome. Some simple, and some hard. Can't wait to see more from other characters soon. I'd still like to see a video like this to be done with Reptile so we can see good combos from him.

I'm probably in the minority but I find no fault in his stance. It's actually very historically accurate. Ninjutsu stances are very open like his. I read about it once, but I can imagine it throws your opponent off guard. One would assume with an open stance like that you are easily thrown or taken down. Seems awesome to me! And those pictures posted of Sub Zero in other games looked mechanical and stiff with the exception of the Dragon Claw stance. It's awesome as is.

Which Ninjutsu kamae resembles Sub-Zero's fighting stance? I was thinking that since Sub-Zero is more of a defensive character, I'd much rather see him use Ichimonji no Kamae (Number 1 posture) but modified in the legs like a 4:6 forward/bow stance like in Chinese martial arts. That way, we get that sense of similarity and connection between the Lin Kuei and Shirai-Ryu fighting styles while having that flavor of traditional Chinese martial arts.

If martial arts styles were incorporated into this new gameplay system, I would love Sub-Zero's fighting style to have a lot of influence from Gyokko-Ryu Koshijutsu as it would fit him very nicely. If NRS is really trying to make Sub-Zero's gameplay contrast with Scorpion's, having Scorpion's fighting with strong influences from Koto-Ryu Koppojutsu would really make that contrast so fucking badass! To top that, by having those two with such influences in their fighting styles and using them together as a tag team would be even more badass!

I wouldn't say that Sub-Zero looks "fat", but I would say that he looks bulky, and I guess that plays a part in the whole "tank" image in some people's minds. Honestly, when it comes to that stuff, I would rather much see Sub-Zero with that lean, muscular build to give him more of that sense of him being swift and sneaky.

Just because he's a more defensive, methodical fighter doesn't mean that he has to be like a tank. What I think would be great is if he had that Preying Mantis aspect to his fighting style in the sense that while he's fast, he's the type that prefers waiting to trap the opponent and retaliate with a deadly assault.

Man all i got to say about the trailer is awesome, and I been trying to tell people from the get go that that was the younger Subby, never was the original back as so many first thought. Now this confirms it, if it wasn't beforehand.

Anyways this is the first character trailer I've seen, heard there are others though? So I'll look them up. But yeah I would like to see these for all the characters. Plus it would be a great way to announce characters as well.
