Sub-Zero Bio:
Clad in blue, this formidable assassin began his deadly path on a mission from the Lin Kuei to murder Shang Tsung. That's when he was killed by Scorpion only to reappear as Noob Saibot, with his younger brother taking on the identity of Sub-Zero. Now he emerges with untold secrets of the afterlife propelling him fearlessly into the bloodiest battles. Time and again, he assaults the confidence of his enemies with his resurrected strength and sense of deadly purpose. Creating dismembered bodies and broken spirits wherever he goes, he threatens the very notion of peace on earth with his awe-inspiring destructive energy.

It's going with Sub-Zero as an idea more so than a man. Giving a summary of both brothers portraying this idea. Creating the illusion Sub-Zero is immortal.

Thank you and with baraka looks like they're going with the mkvsdc look unless its just another tarkatan.

Animations look more fluid than previous videos. And camera movement is fluid and quick to track character movement. Previous videos don't show as much of these aspects as this one does.

Where is this "Sub is slow" thing coming from? I've heard it here and among friends and it's leaving me pretty confused. He looks average.

well this is a bit of a shock cause most poeple thought the sub zero in this game was the older one, i guess now that this infact the sub zero we all know well,
so the original sub is killed off yet again, that without a doubt means he is gona be a noob
Compared to Scorpion he's pretty slow.

But I think it works for him. Don't sneak that "average" over me, you forum ninja. wink

Now, where's my commercial?" - Bill Hicks...another dead hero.

Alternate costume I can only imagine will be a scar-clad unmasked version. I really hope the model for Elder Sub is slightly different, showing signs of aging and maybe subtle differences on his attire.

Well, hence the word "average". I'm sure Jax is going to look like a rock compared to Cyrax.

Change his stance to this.

I mean,he already has that double-claw strike straight from that style. Plus,it always looked perfectly suited for him.

And this is seriously like the only fucking semi-decent screenshot of Sub-Zero in Dragon stance on the entire internet. I just literally spent 20 minutes searching, and this is the best I managed to come up with. I mean what the shit.

I can see the crappy jump punches are back from MKDC. Most of these juggles looked sort of mechanical. Not very smooth. Loved the beginning where Sub-Zero and Scorpion confronted each other.....in Kahn's Arena >_>

They seem to have kept Sub-Zero's voice actor from MK VS DC.grin
Cyrax=Darts around like a crack fiend
Tanya=Master troll, backstabbing people for the lulz

LOL you are good making me love characters for the wrong reasons.

But The Dragon stance looks too silly along with The movie stance.

I'm probably in the minority but I find no fault in his stance. It's actually very historically accurate. Ninjutsu stances are very open like his. I read about it once, but I can imagine it throws your opponent off guard. One would assume with an open stance like that you are easily thrown or taken down. Seems awesome to me! And those pictures posted of Sub Zero in other games looked mechanical and stiff with the exception of the Dragon Claw stance. It's awesome as is.

the stance is too animalistic and it leaves his guard wide open. no trained fighter would stand like that in a fight to the death. lol unless you wanna get killed.

Wow....

Sub-Zero does look lame in almost every way compared to Scorpion. He does look slow...what music?

Where's the sky freeze? I see almost everything else I remember though. The slide, a version of the clone, the kori blade...ect.

I think he's missing something...but I can't put my finger on it at the moment.
I like that he and Scorpion have their little moment at the beginning though. NRS is answering another request made by the fans with that, but Sub-Zero looks weak to me right now. He doesn't look awesome at all.

also did anyone notice that when he uses his parry on minleena (who was airborn) he did not counter. she just froze, do you think thats what happens when his opponent is airborn or is this a new move alltogether (prolly the first one lol)

His current stance or the one on the Dragon pic that I posted?

The Dragon pic is fine, but I just wanted to find the one where he's not standing with his back to the camera.

The current stance... I personally don't mind it that much, but what I guess people mean is that it seems a bit too relaxed, too shapeless, too free-form for him. Some of his previous stances did seem a bit more imposing,I suppose.

Good point,actually.

In b4 Sub-Zero is not a ninja and has nothing to do with ninjutsu.

I'm no martial arts expert, but I reckon the Shaolin monks who invented this style probably accounted for things like "wide open guard".

Let's not turn this into a fucking MMA debate about what style is the most practical.

Yeah,I caught that too.
He doesn't immediately counter with the Kori Blade, but instead just kinda hops back. Maybe the Freeze Parry will have an option to either do nothing or counter immediately. That seems likely.

It's not just his stance, it's his overall build as well. He's almost as huge as Jax if not bigger. Ever since MKDA they've been making subby unnecessarily huge. I'd like to see him more slimed down to a Kung Lao or Johnny Cage build.

Another "Baraka" clue?

Stop the video at 0:16 and look near Subby's legs.

Will it be him or Sonya the next character to be revealed?

It could simply be a regular cute Tarkatan lurking around. Easily the most interesting thing about this new video.

Looks way more like Quan Chi to me. It would make sense that he is standing behind Scorpion.

No way is that thing in the back Quan Chi. It's neither white enough nor carrying the markings he's had since Mythologies.

Either way, I think Sub-Zero looks great. His animations are very smooth, his play style is very versatile, he looks great, and I love his heroic yet still threatening voice.

He looks like a much less aggressive character than the others; far more defensive and less direct in how he plays. He's the ultimate "set-up" character, finding the holes in his opponent's attacks and countering with his freeze moves, THEN dishing out the pain. I like it. Very strategic.
