It is definately not how I imagined Sonya to look like. As mentioned before, she looks more like a mercenary than someone from the military. There is absolutely nothing about this outfit that gives the feeling of her being a military woman at all. And it disappoints me alot.

I do not hate the outfit though. I just don't think it fits Sonya and doesn't represent her as a character. Unless she actually turns out to be a mercenary this time around (or something alike).

I don't like that her midriff is showing. She should wear a black bra or a shirt underneath that vest, though maybe that will just make her look like Nina from Tekken 3 even more. Many people say that Mileena's outfit is lack of creativity - I say Sonya's new outfit lacks ALOT more creativity than any of the new outfits we've seen so far.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if this wasn't even Sonya, I mean its not an official MK select Screen, It doesn't say its Sonya, Its probably some some girl RE or something.

I'm surprised a little more cleavage than we're used to with Sonya has proven so controversial. She's marched in to battle with thong straps up to her ribs, boobs bigger than her head and nipples like wheel nuts but a low cut top is what shocks everyone? I don't particularly like it myself, but I don't dislike it. I haven't been on the edge of my seat waiting to see Sonya's cleavage but at the same time, it doesn't make a difference. I like the costume and I think she looks great. Sure it's not very realistic but it's not like MK has ever even tried to be realistic. I'm sorry, I just don't see what the big deal is.

I see I'm wondering if this is the actual render of just a early model/concept. Because with a few changes it will become perfect.

The problem with a lot of the comments is that they are presented in a hostile way, especially to someone who has a different opinion. They are conclusive and pretty much state "this is how I want it and that is fuckin logic and how it should be!" ... I think that is the cause of derailing threads and hostile conversations. And I admit, sometimes even I make the mistake of expressing my opinion in the same hostile way. Just sayin...

Back on topic; Sonya's design seems a little simple and like many have stated, shows too much skin. A full female military outfit would be cool to see for once. Anyway, will save the full judgement for when a detailed render is revealed.

From that distance, the face and hairstyle reminds me of Samus from Other M, Jill from RE5, and of course Nina.

But who fucking cares, I wanna see gameplay footage god dammit. I also hope she is top tier.

Sonya's outfit notwithstanding, why isn't there more hoopla and hurrays that the first lady of MK has been officially confirmed to begin with?

Sure, there was all that speculation, but there she is! Tangible proof! Buffed out, fists clenched, ready for battle!

If she's in the game, you KNOW Kano is not far behind, and you KNOW we're soon going to be seeing her in action, flipping and kicking and cracking bones. C'mon, that's exciting! Like Jax, I can't wait to see what she can do in this new game and how all of her classic moves have been re-imagined!

And I'm sure, much like Kitana and Mileena, once we see her fluidly snapping a neck and performing a kiss of death, her boobs/navel/butt will be the last thing on our minds.

I think it's cause everybody knew Sonya was going to be there already. They were never going to remake the first three games, include the likes of Sektor and Nightwolf and leave Sonya out - it was just a matter of when we'd get to see her and what she'd look like. Now that we've seen her, I for one can't wait to see Sonya in action - I'm really looking forward to seeing her kick some ass. I hope she has all her best special moves and some awesome fatalities.

Because almost everyone knew she was a lock to make this game.

Hell, she only looked military twice. In MK:DA-MKA and MK vs. DC.

Remember the Sarah Connor in green spandex in MK1?
The gym aerobics teacher from MK3?
The street-hard edge woman with Stryker's cap?

Suuuuure....military. Not that I wouldn't mind Sonya to look like somewhat miitary like, but not to the extent of a Iraq-assigned trooper. Thge only big problem here is that the costume lacks any charateristic detail. And a shirt.

Otherwise it doesn't have any flaws in the category of loose banfs making her look like a reject blonde emo.

Her figure and proportions are much better. She has huge shoulders, and zero hips in MKvsDC.

And those two times she looked military was her two best appearances in my opinion. MK1-MK3 she looked like some aerobic trainer and in MK4 she looked like... something else. And I don't think those looks were fitting her.

Also, Mortal Kombat have existed for many years now and the MK team have had plenty of time to define their characters and how their style of appearance should be like by now. Sonya's more military, yet sexy, look in MKvsDCU fit her perfectly in my opinion! And then we get this?
She doesn't look like any of her previous looks at all and Netherrealm Studios clearly seem to want her to have a different style this time around than what we've seen before. I was personally hoping for something a bit more military, hence my disappointment, but as I said, I do not hate this outfit - it just doesn't seem befitting of Sonya as a military woman.

I felt the same about Kitana's new appearance. It just doesn't seem befitting of her as an assassin. The leotard would be much more fitting. But again, I do not hate the outfit.

So yeah, I complain about her not looking military enough, because I wanted her to look more military.

I have mixed feelings on this. For one thing, I think the body, face, and hair look nice. I'm glad they've gone away from the mannish facial features that she's suffered from in previous games, and I'm glad even with the bangs, they aren't done in the same way like in MK vs. DC where it covered her face. Her color schemes are kind of fitting yet kind of bland in the way they're done.

For the overall costume itself, I still feel Sonya could look more military since she is a soldier afterall. Yeah, of course Mortal Kombat is a video game series with magic, sci-fi elements, mysticism, etc., but that doesn't mean there isn't room for any sense of realism and believability.

For the top half, this goes back to the issue of over-sexualizing characters. It's not that I have a problem with beautiful, big-breasted women. However, the female characters don't have to have big breasts to be beautiful and sexy. Sonya could have perky, medium-sized breasts and she'll be just fine there.

It's silly that she has this vest and nothing really else on for her top. A t-shirt underneath her vest would have worked. Hell, for those of you that love Sonya's mid-section showing, have it without exposing too much. Just have a little bit of it showing for that tease. Overall, you'd still have Sonya showing some skin without looking ridiculous. On another note, the dog tag is a nice touch, but I'd have to get a better look at how it's done.

For her bottom half, I don't have any particular complaints aside from the lack of gear that would go with her character. It doesn't have to be too much...just some things like a radio and a pocket knife.

Overall, she more or less has the body and face right but the costume is bland and uninspired.

Her outfit reminds me a bit of Vanessa Lewis's from Virtua Fighter. Has the same sort of military pants, belt, dogtags combo with the bangs look.

See, I'm fine with either of those three tops to be underneath the vest. It's just the lack of a shirt is the ONLY thing bothering me. And this isn't like Kitana or Mileena where I'm fine with it for the most part..No, the only thing I'll ever think of when I play as her against her or alongside her is "You need a shirt, Lady"

That out of the way, I like this costume and how she looks.

What a horrendous costume. This is the first time an MK costume has made me laugh out loud, and there have been some true shockers before this.

Moments like this make me glad I'm not a Sonya fan.

But hey, at least they're starting to get her anatomy right... kinda

Except they didn't compromise Sonya's original physical appearance by trying to make her look as white and attractive as possible.

I am liking her look...before I saw the first leaked image I was thinking they were going to put her back in spandex but this works. I agree it lacks some detail and maybe some gear...perhaps a belt with pistol or something. maybe some decorative military patches or badges that stick out more would be cool. They could also make an entrance pose for her that could enable her to actually have a jacket but she takes it off. All in all I just hope she plays well and has awesome fatalities. Sonya has always been simple and direct anyway. I get those who would like to see her military background show more in her attire though.

C'mon people. Its a mans game and it always has been. Turn down the blood? Too much damage detail? but yeah i totally agree that we need more fat chicks wearing turtlenecks in the game, just something for the " boys " that don't like watching hot chicks wearing hot clothes kick ass.. I read somewhere something about the chicks in video games being over sexed? what are you talking about? the men are over sexed as well! hot guys with perfect bodies wearing almost only socks? the men are over sexed too.. But its translated as awesome.
