The game takes place during the MK1-MK3 time period. Sonya's one of the iconic female fighting characters. Science-Fact: She's right around the corner! In fact, some people think they've already found her.

We know story mode will probably wind up something like MKvsDC's, with forced playthroughs with certain characters. It'll be interesting to see how they deal with her in story mode. Getting the story from her perspective would be interesting, but seems a little too unconventional for MK's usual mode structure.

Sonya is one of the main and most iconic faces and names of Mortal Kombat. She's right up there with Scorpion and Sub-Zero (and Raiden).

She's been the most consistent female in the entire series and she is a big favorite of the community and the MK Team. Her appearances and promotions for the MK games has always been superb, but, it was particularly special in MKvsDC which pretty much showed us how much she is valued and how signifiant her role is.

You have Ryu, Ken, and Chun Li. You have Superman, Batman, and Wonderwoman. In Mortal Kombat you have: Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Sonya (and I'm very happy to say that Raiden and Mileena have been treated just as well).

Important Fact #1 is that I'm well aware that I'm a "super mega fanboy fanatic" and supporter of the character.

Important Fact # 2 is that while that may come off as super biased, we actually have tons of official and relevant information and examples to back that up without running away from it like a biased fanboy.

Important Fact #3 is that Sonya Fucking Blade rocks.

Important Fact #4 (just in case) is that no one is saying or suggesting that Sonya is better/superior than ANY of the other females you people! So, to the other "super mega fanboy fanatics", kindly step back and don't try to bite my head off because I'll bite back....Mileena style!

And lets not forget this is also about MK1, and even as an unplayable in MK2 she played a role in the story.

I'm actually surprised we haven't seen her chained up yet. But, I guess they intend her new look to be a better surprise. Anyway, I wonder if that part of the story will ever come to happen and if it will be canon that it was indeed Baraka the one to capture her. Or will it be changed? Will Kano be captured as well?

She'll be back in this game, it wouldn't be the classics without her. She only took a break from the games twice( in MK2 she was still quite relevent to the story and appeared in game) and in MK Deception she was interwoven still, especially in Ermac's story and as Onaga's servant. Not having Sonya in this game would be like eating cereal and picking a fork over a spoon, it just wouldn't feel right.

Yeah, I know that it's also around MK1, I just didn't mention it because she was playable around that game, but in MK2 she wasn't and well, whatever happens with her chained up might be revealed in story mode.

As far as her not being chained up, it gets me wondering whether or not that event actually happens this time around. Remember Raiden's fucking with the timeline and according to Boon, the story won't happen the exact same way. We've seen many other characters chained up, never her, and we even saw Kitana chained up before she was even announced and shown off. So I'm wondering if the only story-relevant character to get taken by Khan's forces this time around is Kitana, due to some altered event around MK2.

That's possible and it would be interesting to see how Raiden prevented (or screwed up) this from happening. However, I'm guessing that she simply hasn't been shown in chains because they don't want to reveal her new look just yet. It makes sense.

Sonya is bad ass no doubt about it! she was the First playable FEMALE fighter like my girl chun li from sf (she kickz ass)! Sonya was my love at mk but some reason since MKDA i felt she look like a gorilla (her weakest design) and i had an intersted with kitana and jade! ALL the MK girls are badasses no questions. But Sonya and kitana and jade are the ultimate badass and Mileena just the sexiest one without her damn teeth. But I LOVE SONYA that's my girl in mkdv she was bad-ass and her look. I hope she can wear like a camouflage bottom with a tight whatever color (except yellow i hate yellow lol) top more like her shoalion monks design i love it but if sonya confirm, i cant wait to see her!

Regarding a camouflage bottom, I really liked it in Shaolin Monks, but, I'd rather they go for something different for this game. I'm a bigger fan of her tight black pants, but, she should get something new on them to spice them up.

Plus, ages ago, I had a sweet interview with the lovely Miss Dana who gave Sonya her voice in MKvsDC and this new game, and she confirmed to me that Sonya will be one of the main protagonists again.

Am I the only one that was a fan of her alternate in MKA and MKDA? The one with her high heeled boots and beige General gear? I LOVED that. Very "feminine" but kickass as well. If they could have that as Sonya's alternate she'd be one bad motha... Sorry, just watched Shaft in class today. lolol
