Ed Boon always says a lot of things about MK games. None of them are to be believed ever.

Yeah, the UMK3 comparison to the PS was meant for just the Saturn, but in any case, it is not unfair at all, it's the same game on two different consoles, I don't see how it is unfair. It'd be unfair of me to compare the weaker portable versions to the PS/Arcade, but the SNES and Genesis weren't that inferior in power compared to the Saturn. I'm comparing console-exclusive content, and the ability to play as Noob Saibot, and the newly introduced Rain on the SNES/Genesis was a significant difference compared to the Saturn version, especially since this was the first time one could play as Noob, and because it introduced another new character compared to the previous version (Ermac was the first).

The difference is that MK took small elements from different stories and modified them to give MK its own; sure you can compare Raiden to a Shinto god, but you can also compare him to a character from Big Trouble in Little China. You can't compare MK's story to one concept, as the MK team based most of their ideas on multiple things and came up with unique concepts, whereas GoW is based completely on the Greek mythos.
Anyway, the more I hear about Kratos in the game, the more I'm getting used to, and even liking the idea. Heck, I don't even own any current-gen consoles, so this news changes little for me, as I've yet to even play MKA.
It does make me curious to see who will be exclusive to the XBox version (assuming they do make a character for that one). Ideally, there should be a console-exclusive for each system to balance it out.

You must not know them because when they nagggg they gettt, and there nagging for RAAM to be in the new MK, the buffed out big boss you fight at the end of the first Gears. I am acting grown up I just DONT want to see another MK game do stupid things. And when did i say i'm not buying Mortal Kombat? LOL putting words in my mouth i will still buy it definetly but there will be a lot of Gears fan boys who WILL SAY NO

Ya know, after having a day to think about it a little, I'm actually pretty exited about this now. He should have some awesome moves, with the chains etc
And the fatality possibilities are endless. And at least he's not part of the story... And including him makes it less likely that some dipshit like Havok, Bo Rai Cho, Li Mei etc etc will have a slot

Well I give you that Kratos is the most qualified guest character to think of in terms of console gaming.

Besides on cameo level we already had guest characters: Shang's friendship in MK3 turned him into the character from Joust.

PlayStation 3 owners will be able to take control of Kratos, the protagonist from the God of War series, in the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot.

According to a report in the Official PlayStation Magazine (via StickSkills), Kratos will be an exclusive playable character in the PS3 version only. He'll even have his own fatalities, combat moves, and God of War-themed combat arena. Unfortunately, it looks as though Kratos will not be available for the game's story mode.

No word yet on what, if any, exclusive characters will appear in the Xbox 360 version.

Also making the rounds this morning is a potential leak of ten new characters appearing the game.

According to fan site TRMK, purported audio files from the game were accidently made public on the official website, revealing still-unannounced characters, game modes, and stage music. The files have since been removed, but not before someone was able to do some digging.

Here's the list of characters found:

- Goro
- Quan Chi
- Stryker
- Noob Saibot
- Sindel
- Kabal
- Shao Kahn
- Smoke
- Shang Tsung
- Ermac

Also according to the website, separate audio files suggest the classic "Test Your Might" mini-game will be making a return.

You know, I actually don't mind this one too much, only because Kratos suits the MK style of blood & gore.

I feel that if he is added to the game, they will even attempt to adapt him to the storyline, and it may be done well.
