I agree that Reptile is a sad, bird-faced thing, and it's ridiculous he isn't shown more love. I liked him a lot in MKII, but I *loved* him in MKT. Since he has all the same moves (including both forceballs), I'm betting I can still kick as arse or two with him... glad I got the retro costume, though!

I'm a bit surprised to see Shang Tsung as arguably the best looking dude in the game.
Don't get me wrong- he's no Kitana, but I'm not used to Shang as the handsome type. I suppose it is appropriate for his younger form, though.

Reptile's costume has actually grown on me.

I noticed something: Liu's hair isnt moving. That looks like a wigg made of stone. NRS please fix this little thingy... (u can see it when he bows before he does his fatality. It goes straight into his body, glitchy)

as a hardcore shang lover...judging from the vid, i believe it's told from kangs perspective...I don't think we're getting a shang morph. They say basically his goal is this and his enemy becomes Shang, it's a great reveal that Shang WILL be in the game however I highly doubt he'll morph.

As a Shang fan, I do miss morphing because back in MK2 i kinda mastered all the guys because I always used Shang but it basically made Shangs character cheap...a teaching tool, if you will. He truely evolved in DA with his own moveset....I'd love the nostolgia of morphing but if you love the pure evil of the character, you'll be fine without it. He's the MK embodiment of evil. He's the MK version of the Joker. While Kahn has such high aspirations of world domination, Shang's there just to do whatever suits him but always be as evil as possible.

I also think that Shang Tsung never felt like his own character before MK:DA. The morphing, while awesome as it may be, only reduced his potential. He was basically every character BUT himself.

With that being said, I do hope he gets to morph again... but in a different way. Instead of being able to morph into every character, he should only be able to morph in 3 or 4 preset forms. And these forms shouldn't even be existing characters. Give him something more unique. Let him transform into a nameless Shokan/assassin/warrior/... or something

Of course, that means creating extra models... but in the end, I think it's worth it. Because after all, Shang Tsung was just an easy way to get a new character... just throw together every character you already have.

Shang WILL morph. Mark it.

too bad they didnt use the Kano concept that came out with the re-imagined concepts of sonya, raiden, and scorpion a couple of years ago. it was the first and only time so far that he's actually looked cool. oh well, i guess if he's always looked like a retard theres nothing lost if he still looks like a retard.

Also Goro has been in MK1,MKT,MK4,mentioned in Deadly Alliance,Deception and MKA. Not to mention he was in Shoalin Monks.

On the shang morphing, maybe he can morph into just the characters from mk 1 through mk 3. If i can remember correctly, on the ps1 you could pick a few characters that he could morph into without loading times. If they could make that work on the ps1, i'm sure they can make it where we can morph into the characters from mk1 through mk3 on the 360 and ps3.

that's what i'm saying. With the technology of a ps3 over a ps1, i'm pretty sure they could do it. Also if he wasn't going to morph in this game, why would they even show him doing it in the video?

Someone made the observation that what we're seeing may not be so much a morph as Liu Kang imagining that Reptile is Shang Tsung. Now, while I did initially think that as well, I tend towards the morphing theory. That being said, as much as I would love for the morphing to be in the game, I tend to think that they're just not "there" yet.

But they've already been there.
As has been mentioned, the PSX version of MKT (~15-year-old technology) had morphs of two varieties- the painfully laggy morphs when you morph into just anyone, and the much more bearable morphs when you pre-select a character. With two generations of hardware improvements, and the ability to install large amounts of game data to a HDD, there's really no reason in the world they couldn't implement a lag-free morph of *at least* one pre-selected character.

Well, if they can make it happen, good. If not, well, I won't be surprised. I have absolute faith in the technology being there. Just not in NRS using it.
