Uhm, the 360 and PS3 both output in HD. MK looks the same on both.

The problem doesn't reside in "Xbox quality" anyway...it's "YouTube quality" that fucks it up.

Does anybody know if this game is being made in 1080p or 720p? I'm guessing 720 since that's what they upload to YouTube in.

I'm also gonna throw my hat in the "Damn Reptile looks weak and ugly" arena. The design is just bad, I've felt that way from the beginning, I was just hoping it would grow on me. Also, every weird glitch with charater positioning seems to involve reptile in some weird way. The x-ray video, and now this vignette. Here's hoping we see some redeeming gameplay in the next few weeks.

I always thought that only blu-ray discs are able to have HD quality games and movies on them, and since the X-box doesn't use blu-ray discs I simply assumed the quality on it wouldn't be as good as on a PS3.

I have both PS3 and xbox and in fact most multiplatform games look better on xbox. PS3 is more powerful machine but most games are made on xbox and then PS3 ports are made (because it is easier to make games on xbox). If you watch youtube videos form E3,PAX and BGS Mortal Kombat was running on Xboxes.

To my understanding (I have a ps3 not an xbox to clarify), the 360 does have HD... They were designed back when the hi-def disc war was on, and they went with the losing format, didn't they?

So they'd still have hi-def, just a different version of it than blu-ray

So basically, the reason that some games doesn't look optimal on PS3 is because the graphics should fit the X-box as well... And because of that, it looks good on the X-box, but not on the PS3. It makes sense...

I'm sure the next X-box will use blu-ray discs as well so the graphics on the two consoles won't suffer one way or the other when games go multi-platform.

However, I was comparing this vignette with the other vignettes, and it does indeed look like this vignette has worse graphics compared to them... That's kinda too bad when thinking of the new stuff we see in it, such as the stage and Kano/Shang Tsung.

It's more a matter of compression than anything else. Blu Ray discs are able to hold more information per disc, so it's believed, in some circles, that ps3 is the better alternative for H.D.

Both consoles are capable of it, xbox developers just have to deal with DVD memory restraints(although easier development/compression tools seem to alleviate the problem)

So yeah um, the vignette, I really like how the realms are sort of merged between Outworld and Earthrealm. Like in the background you see that fierce looking dragon sitting on top of a distant skyscraper and the downed helicopter with the blades still spinning slowly while the fight is going on.

I really hope during the story mode it shows where everything is all good and normal, then all hell breaks loose on the world.

I'm guessing the dragon took down the helicopter which would be cool to see at the beginning of the fight

nobody knows how kanos heart rip fatality will look in this game(if its in)so you cant compare liu kangs to kanos old one when it hasnt been shown in full.

I got a comparison for you right now: Liu Kang did not rip a heart out.

I am really excited about Liu getting the treatment right now. I have always thought that he was one of the cooler characters, I mean, how could you not like "The Chosen One" of Mortal Kombat? It's like saying I dont like Ryu in SF or Neo in the Matrix. Well, maybe not...

Although I dont mind nor care about Liu's face, I AM concerned with his current physical state. The poor guy looks misproportioned. Has anyone ever seen pecs that look like that? yikes! I hope they fix that.

His movement is fantastic. I Dig it. He looks quick and brutal and brutally quick.

Christ, I hate being late to these fucking reveals. Been wanting to post since 11 AM, but haven't had time.

- I am loving Kano's Mk3-era outfit. The boots are great. What I'm finding unfortunate is that his baldness now appears to have definitively vanished into non-canon status along with his original American-Japanese origin (though I never cared for that anyway). Much as I do love the late Trevor Goddard for the life he breathed into the character, they really seem to have copy-pasted his whole face on there these days. The Aussie personality is fine in my book, but did we really need his head as well? He no longer looks a thing like Richard Divizio - not like he has in ages.

-Shang has looked better. He has also looked worse. There is an old man alternate if the rumor mill is to be believed - which I do. I can deal with this.

-The shape of Liu's face is fucking bizarre when he's holding his fist up at the end. It's like his whole jawline expanded. O_o

-Absolutely adoring the stage. A fucking drastic improvement over MK3's rooftops on the whole....but where the hell is Kahn's tower? Interesting to see a small portal right next to the arena...
