If it was a normal cosplayer, a fan dressing as his/her favourite character, I am more interested in how good the outfit resembles the chosen character's outfit, because you can only do so much with your own natural look to appear like a character. Then it doesn't matter that much to me if the skin colour is correct or if the person resembles the character.

However, these are hired models. Professionals who are given money to portray the in-game characters. At least they could have chosen some models that looked closer to those characters, both physique and skin colour wise. But if these were the closest they could get, then alright.

I feel like people are so picky. The models are amazing. Can't we all just appreciate this? So what if the models don't look exactly like who they are portraying? Does it really matter?

Sidenote: I love that Skarlet model. Amazing

No, it doesn't matter, just expressing my opinion about it like the rest of the people on here. I take it that's still allowed on here, right?

I doubt they had a very large amount of money to pay these women, but I understand the notion that they could have possibly chosen a bustier and more fit woman.

I think, though, that his girl's skin tone and her face resemble Jade's official render well. I also don't ever take bust or build into account when judging a cosplayer. To me, it's about the costume and the attitude.

Hypocritical considering your comments on her skin color.

She looks plenty like Jade to me. Mileena has shorter, black hair in the game, and our model for Mileena has longer brown hair. Why is everyone harping on Jade?... because it involves her tits and her race.

The only person bringing up race is you. Jade doesn't have an earthly race, she's edenian. I'm focused on her SKIN COLOR and I have every right to not like how she's being depicted with the wrong skin tone.

This isn't a "race thing", it's a "get the damn skin tone right" thing. It's like if Sonya was randomly being depicted with dark skin even though she's not in the actual game, are you telling me that wouldn't bother you? Even if it didn't bother you- is it so outlandish that it bothers me and several others?

And I'm sorry, but I don't see Jade as "tanned". She's dark-skinned, there's a difference. If you're naturally dark-skinned no matter how much time you spend inside you'll still be dark-skinned. I'm the same color as Jade and no way in the world would I be consider as "tanned".

This is such a DUMB and idiotic conversation, so I'm just going to shut my fat lips up. This really isn't worth it. Have fun.

You get awfully defensive about your right to your opinion when no one has told you otherwise, yet you judge the topic at hand rather harshly when you are one of the people who kept it going by commenting on Jade's skin tone as well. And you left quite a post when you think it isn't even worth it.

Jade has been depicted with extremely varied skin tone. There is no "right" skin tone. To say I'm the one bringing up the race card is ridiculous. How do you think they're going to change her actress' skin color, paint her? No, they would get someone of a race with naturally darker skin.

If you truly didn't care about her perceptive "race", then you wouldn't be hating on the light-skinned actress. She's Edenian, so who's to say her species' skin isn't more susceptible to sunlight? Regardless, I'm not saying that Jade's skin color isn't a valid discussion. I'm just saying it's been done to death and will never be validated until NRS specifically confirms it. It's not like they didn't do the render of her with light skin.

I stand by my previous statement, which I will reiterate: GET OVER IT.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, different from person to person.

Hence why I don't like the Jade model who I find too skinny while others, like Luca, think she is beautiful. There's no one definition on what is beautiful and what is not.

I never said she was beautiful (though, she is!). I just said she was a great cosplayer :).

But yea I find Jade, Kitana and Skarlet all smoking hot. Mileena is okay to me and Sonya is bleh.

They're all wonderful cosplayers, though. Sonya's costume could use a lot less make-up, IMO

All opinions of course.

Jade has been depicted with extremely varied skin tone. There is no "right" skin tone.

Wrong. The skin-color she has in the game should be the skin color she has in all the other promotional renders and media. If Jade was light-skinned in MK9, then we wouldn't be having this discussion, but she isn't so depicting her as something different is completely inaccurate. What is so hard to understand about this?

To say I'm the one bringing up the race card is ridiculous.

Dude, before you posted no one even brought up the WORD race. We were talking about skin-color.

How do you think they're going to change her actress' skin color, paint her? No, they would get someone of a race with naturally darker skin.

I'm not sure what you mean by this but them finding an actress with darker skin would have been nice but please don't misunderstand me- The bone I'm picking isn't with this one model or picture. Someone brought up the fact that maybe they couldn't get a darker-skinned model and this was what they had- That's fine. I'm just irritated with EVERYTHING concerning MK9 Jade in the promotional media and how they keep depicting her skin-tone.

If you truly didn't care about her perceptive "race", then you wouldn't be hating on the light-skinned actress.

You really need to learn the difference between skin-tone and race. This isn't about race.

She's Edenian, so who's to say her species' skin isn't more susceptible to sunlight

O.o Ok....

Regardless, I'm not saying that Jade's skin color isn't a valid discussion. I'm just saying it's been done to death and will never be validated until NRS specifically confirms it.

What has to be confirmed? We know Jade is dark-skinned in MK9 and she's been dark-skinned for the past several years.

It's not like they didn't do the render of her with light skin.

That's the problem. It's inaccurate. If she was light-skinned in the game then I would have nothing to say, but she's MUCH darker. She's my color and that's waaaay passed "tanned".

I stand by my previous statement, which I will reiterate: GET OVER IT

Typing in all caps is supposed to make me listen to you? I will not. I'm not going to "get over it" all because you told me too.

I REALLY don't see why everyone think I'm saying something soooo horrible. But that's the name of the game. It's MKO and should be expected.

I'm sorry, Luca, but people have every right to be unsatisfied with the way NRS has presented Jade's skin tone. Her correct skin tone is the one in the games which has been shown as dark tanned. It doesn't matter if she resembles a certain part of the human race or not, it is the very colour that is important here. If NRS isn't consistent with the colour of Jade's skin, then why should they be with the rest of the roster? How about a black Sonya and a white Jax, would that be alright with you? Why stop at the skin colour, how about a midget Shao Kahn or an 8 armed Goro.

Skin colour changes on people, but not as drastically as they have between these two examples of Jade:

http://www.fightersgeneration.com/np7/char/jade-mk9render.jpg

http://www.fightersgeneration.com/np8/char/jade-mk9alt-concept.jpg

... which both depicts the same Jade of the same game! Her skin colour is not correct in the render.

We are not talking about different depictions of her, like from game to game or from game to movie. This is the same Jade of the same game, and she has two widely different skin colours on those examples above! It is just not right.

You act like her skin color has been consistent between games. In UMK3 she looked like a dark-skinned Asian. In Deception she looked black. In MK9 she looks Hispanic. In her official MK9 render she looks white.

ProfesserAhnka Wrote:

Are you seriously THAT naive that you cannot see the direct correlation between skin tone and race? You don't have to literally say word "race" for the discussion to be about it. You can TRY to be subtle, as you have, but it won't work. The actress playing her looks white. You want her to look black. FACT.

ProfesserAhnka Wrote:What has to be confirmed? We know Jade is dark-skinned in MK9 and she's been dark-skinned for the past several years

Again. Jade's skin color has never been consistent. She's very light-skinned in MK9 compared to Deception. Look at her UMK3 render in MK9. Her skin is a different tone entirely. It's clear that NRS hasn't decided on a skin tone for her. You're in denial if you can't see that. They've released several renders of her for MK9, and they ALL have wildly different skin tone.

Typing in all caps is supposed to make me listen to you? I will not. I'm not going to "get over it" all because you told me too.
