There's not much more contrast you can get in skin color. Unless she went like really pale or really dark.

The sad thing is that I prefer her darker skinned. I have a SYCO Collectibles statue of her coming in in about a week, and I was on their facebook requesting that she have darker skin. But I'm not gonna sit here and moan about a cosplayer with lighter skin playing her, as the character has been depicted in the past and present with light skin.

I'm seriously done now. This horse has been beaten to the point where we can make hamburgers out of it.

We all have our preferences when it comes to Jade. It's just like Poison's gender in Street Fighter. It's ambiguous and there's no "right" answer.

Luca, you are aware just because you have dark brown skin that doesn't make you BLACK right? And you are also aware that just because you are light skin that also doesn't make you white right?

If you are aware of those things then why do you keep insisting bringing "race" up and throwing words into my mouth? You are literally not even trying now. You're just glancing posts and rambling on and on without reading them.

Look at some in-game footage of Jade, then at the render of her. Do you really not see something wrong with that?
No matter how light or dark her skin colour is, we can agree that it is supposed to be tan, right? Most of her appearances in the games she has had dark skin, so that would be the correct skin colour for her, don't you agree?

Hence the term "LOOK" black. and "LOOK" white. Hence the term "PERCEPTIVE" races.

No more responses for you until you actually read and understand.

All I see is a character in a game that continuously is depicted in different skin tones. I no longer care about her skin tone. I have my preference, which is dark and I've stood up for my preference many-a-time. I, again, was one of the people who helped influence SYCO to repaint their statue's skin to reflect her in-game appearance.

However, this cosplayer playing Jade doesn't bother me, because this is nothing new. Even if my statue hadn't been repainted, I'd still love it and have no problem with it... because again... it's nothing new. Jade's skin tone will always be ambiguous until NRS comes out and says "HERE, THIS IS THE OFFICIAL VERSION OF JADE."

But as long as they continue to put out new renders with sharply contrasting skin color, I will hold my ground that there is no "right" answer.

I'm convinced you're a pissed off fanboy who wants to debate Jade's skin color, regardless of the fact that it's been done to death, and wants to talk his way around the concept of using the easiest possible terms to reference a skin color, which are RACES.

This is you in translation "This isn't about Jade being (insert race), I just want her to look (insert race)."

It's ignorance at its finest.

*yawns* And I'm convinced you're an airhead with an "alpha male" complex.

I'm not pissed off or even irritated. I'm just voicing my opinion. You were the one who decided to randomly come out and "spank" those that weren't happy with Jade's skin tone and I simply replied and it went on from there.

I don't know who you are, but I'm not going to be told to shut up simply because you don't like what I'm saying. All this could have been avoided if you would have kept YOUR mouth close

A lot of discussions have been done to death around here, but guess what? That's the internet. Nothing new is under the sun. Now if you don't mind I'm going to steal one of your sayings- Get over it.

And once again...skin color is not the same as race. Talk about ignorance, pick up a book.

You're adorable when you try to sound intelligent.

GET OVER IT.

I certainly hope to god that the next render or cosplayer of Jade does have darker skin so that the discussion can actually consist of intelligent thoughts regarding the actual topic instead of raging fanboys insisting that their opinions are "right".

So moving past this nonsense, I'm hoping that we get to see some more pictures and maybe some videos of Jade and Skarlet in the format of the former three actresses.

Jade's outfit is amazingly accurate and I'd really like to see it from behind. Both in a perverted and a totally legitimate way. I'm not so sure we will be seeing videos of them, though, as Skarlet would be hard-pressed not let the video slip into a softcore porno. I mean, Mileena's jump-kick in her video was revealing enough.

For the third time, just so everyone knows.

In my opinion, she sucks all around. Her skin tone isn't my only beef.

While others have inaccurate costumes or whatever, they still look quite nice. Jade just looks....off.

Kitana and Mileena both sport booty-shorts in their pictures... that's completely inaccurate and no one complains about that.

*Ahem*

My goodness, is Mileena's costume THAT revealing to where the designers of the model's costume has to have shorts be added to that?

While ignoring the current "Who didn't see that coming" argument, I will change it with something that doesn't seem right:

Someone pointed out that the Scarlet model clearly is going commando underneath the cloth, so what's the problem with Mileena's costume?

Remember, these are two unrelated campaigns, run in two different countries. They're not necessarily going to be consistent.

The thing is though, if Russia gets copies of this game, there's no reason to change the costume up if they know who they want to portray the models as, looks like.

That's like if Germany has Final Fantasy 7 characters modeling for some promotional ad and Sephiroth has short hair and a coat rather than a long black trench coat and long silver hair.

Yeah, nit picky, nit picky we are, but if you're going to model some actual character, get the costume right. I don't give two cents about skin tone, the build, or anything flawed that the actual model has, but when it comes to getting the costume right, you should at least get the costume right.

I could care less if people thought this was either:
A.) Bitching B.) Complaining or C.) Whining, at least understand where I'm coming from, from a different perspective of art. If you're going to model, look like the actual character then. Don't add stuff because you want to censor stuff out or that it's too revealing.

Whoopty doo, you're modeling a M-rated game...

Jade and Skarlet are from the Russian campaign. The others were British.
You can draw whatever conclusions you want from their countries of origin, just clarifying that they aren't part of the same thing. They aren't going to be informed by the same decision process, there's no reason to expect them to be consistent (in the way you were comparing them).

Fair enough, from a broader perspective, that it would be nice to have some consistency and coordination, though. Jolly good of the Russians to plug one of our big Round 1 Supreme Champion tournament fights, mind.

The only one comment I'll make about Jade and Skarlet's models are that both look bored out of their fucking mind.

As a model, your job's to be able to sell a product. If I was to look at this poster, personally, I wouldn't see the appeal. The girls don't look enthusiastic or interested in the character they're portraying. I'd just think to myself "skimpy ninja on a poster. Yawn". Nothing about it would excite me.

Mileena and Kitana both have booty shorts in theirs, and yes, there are minor little things such as Mileena's hair colour or Kitana's fabric looking more rubbery than her in-game costume, but you can look past that when you see how into character the model's get. Kitana's model has that air of confidence and regality you'd expect from the character, likewise Mileena has that flirty, sultry look to her that you'd expect from Mileena. Jade? Looks bored. Skarlet? Looks bored. There's no ferocity in their stances, no mystery or intrigue to their eyes. They just aren't selling it for me, and that's what bugs me.

You guys are a riot. XD The costumes are pretty amazing to look at. I wish more games had time and effort put into cosplay advertisement like this, reminds me of many old school Japanese commercials like final fight 2 or bare knuckle 2. :) as for the skin tone issue, well after seeing what Sega did to Vanessa Lewis this type of thing bothers me a little less.
