Well I'll tell you right now thia game is now a win.
It's an EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPIC WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!!!!!
The story could have been better though. I feel this was too much of a sequel and not enough of a reboot, and when they did reboot something, it seems like they chose the wrong things. For example, they could have changed some character's origins, but instead they stayed realitively the same with some elaborations, with a few exceptions. I mean, this was their chance to give them all new looks and really just start over with them, fix everything bad and upgrade everything good, and essentially reintroduce them to us.
This was their chance to give Baraka dreads or change the Lin Kuei from Chinese "Ninjas" into a modern clan of the world's greatest hitman. It was their chance to change the bad guys from the League of Evil into a group of extremely skilled warriors with common beliefs brought together by the mastermind Shao Kahn.
We didn't need to change the fact the Nightwolf wasn't in the first tournament. We didn't need to add Quan Chi to the picture to take all the glory away from Shang Tsung. I mean, come on, this might be Shang's last game. We'll probably be getting Quan for about ten more games. I agree with what ProudNintendoFan said; There was about three times Quan Chi would have been cool to appear in.
Those are just the rants, though, you've heard them a thousand times already. What really matters is the gameplay and the characters. We got everyone we wanted, and honestly have the perfect roster. I doubt we'll be getting a better one than this again. Not only was this game an EEEEEEEEEEEEEPIC WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!!!! But it might very well be the greatest Mortal Kombat of all time.

Kratos is different. He has the same skeletal structure as the rest of the male characters so they didn't need to make edits from a gameplay standpoint. Likewise for the Shokans. While they obviously had extra arms, other major parts of their structure (for example, the legs) were the same as the other characters.
Motaro has a completely different physiology due to him being a Centaur. Things like x-rays or fatalities targeting his legs would have be reworked big time. Like Quan Chi's 'On Your Knees' fatality for example. Or Kano's x-ray. Which is more effort that it's worth for one character, in my opinion.

you dont do fatalities on the sub-bosses . and for x-rays yeah it would obviously take more time , but for a game that your trying to make a massive comeback with ... i think i would go the extra-mile or two
yeah that excuse , im not buying it either .

This game has given me new faith in MK...the gameplay is great, characters and the story mode was awesome too! They can only move forward with this so I'll be buying each MK that comes out now
I think MK9 is a huge win. It's actually more than I expected. I can't say I love all of the story twists and turns, but it was definitely not boring and has me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next story mode to see how things unfold. But, that's what makes good story telling. Especially for me people like me that have been such a huge fan of the series. I'm already emotionally involved with the characters so any kind of ripple in the characters arcs, and I'm in, hook, line and sinker.

This is kind of a silly thread. Win, of course.
You're idea to "upgrade" and "fix everything" is to give Baraka dreadlocks, as if the fans are beating down Boon's door for that. I'm glad for the aspects of the characters that did stay true to their original iterations.

Win.
MK9 has been to a shit load of tourneys already. And we can see more to come. This is all I could of hoped for, for MK to be a legit fighting game franchise that can be competitive.
Outsold most of the more popular fighting games already.
It's fucking amazing.
EVO!!!!!!!!!!!

Giving him dreads wouldn't change the spirit of his character, it would just change up the look a little. Making him a crazed plastic surgeon with blades surgically attached to his arms would change it, but I didn't say I wanted that. Leaving him looking practically exactly the same as he was from day one is kind of boring imo.
That was just an example anyways. The whole "Upgrade" thing wouldn't be complete just by changing one thing on one character.

Some good and some bad about it. A really cool return to the 2d. Better than namco's MvC3 imo.
But all the: Give me back my favorite char or even anticipation about:
"Since my older bro keeps beating me up with a yellow ninja and a yellow cyborg, i want orange ones, pink ones, grey ones."
All that stuff i wish the creators won't take seriously is kind of scary imo.
But just like everyone, i wish for my fav to be back and rate this game two times higher than i did at first. I love the classic characters, don't misunderstand me. Most of them are still part of the chars i like. Still suspense but not fail at all.

How is my answer stupid? I hate the story and how it's done. A lot of the characters got screwed over. But in terms of gameplay, I had a lot of fun. It's great that MK is starting to be taken seriously as a fighting game, and they should continue to go in this sort of direction. But for the story direction, they should either just stop with the story or do something different (and much better). The reason why I'm saying the game is a huge success is because it sold well, and it's gotten into tournaments like EVO.

If this is directed to me, then you're an ignoramus. I'm not a "fanboy". I'm something of a cynical fan, as sad as that is to say. I more or less feel about this game the way I did with MK: Shaolin Monks.

LOVE this game!!....best one so far...sure the story mode wasn't the greatest and it could've been longer...but overall I am mostly satisfied with how this game turned out...

Yeah well.....it's pretty much EPIC!
As a gore fest for casuals and fail-person shovelware types that occasionally play fighters, MK9 is resounding success.
As a hardcore fighting game, an utter, facepalm fail.
As a gaming package, mediocre.
As a game that will 'stick' and be played years from now, fail.

How cute, a newbie with a sucky username has come to spread hate of MK on an MK forum. How predictable and utterly dull, but cute.
