I'd like that too. That plus she should actually have them attached somewhere on her body instead of just magically creating them out of nowhere.

For a while, I thought these 2D arenas would be half-baked nostalgia grabs. Alas, I've been impressed.

But she creates them
that's the whole point.

I think it would be cool if she had them in her boots somewhere, like the handles sticking out of her thighs of her boots, kinda like Scorpion has sword on his back. or Kitana should have her fans closed in an X on the back of her costume like over her butt. Since during her intro it appears that she puts her fans back there. I dont mind that they appear out of nowhere during gameplay, but they should be on her costume somewhere to show that they dont just appear out of nowhere.

Well, I'm just saying I'd prefer if she would actually carry them instead of magically creating them. That's all.

@wdm789
Yeah, from that intro action of hers it seems like she puts them away just where her as$ is. They've been adding/removing Jax's gun from his back, so I hope they attach the fans to her body for the final built.

The hell are you talking about? The whole point of what, your fuckin' imagination? There's nothing canon about her making magic fans out of thin air.

It's like Kung Lao's hat. A new one teleports onto his head every time he throws it, but that's just a game mechanic. He wears a REAL hat on his head, and in cutscenes, it comes back like a boomerang.

Kitana's always shown holding two fans that don't glow or anything, they don't even leave a colorful trail of magic behind like everything Mileena does now, they look solid and real, and she makes a pulling from behind her back motion when she produces them, like they're stored back there.

The fans would look good on her butt, and kind of cute in a odd way lol. I don't really mind that pulls them out of no where, it is a game after all.

Interesting. I'm curious: do you still feel like it's not Sonya when you look at her tough SF pants?

The thing about the pants is that the look they have now was one established with MKvsDC, a game which I never played extensively. It wasn't until I compared the old MKvsDC render that I recognized the pants.

True, but, even though she didn't feature this "style" of pants in MKvsDC, can you see that the pants scream "Sonya"? or not really? They do for me and that's why I easily accepted them in MKvsDC.

the cool straps around her body/arms?

Honestly, I didn't even notice the straps till ya mentioned it. I remember the black straps around her shoulders in MKvsDC which made it look like she was wearing a backpack... now that I think about, didn't she have a backpack in the early screenshots?

Sonya had a cool "back-thing" in MKvsDC, not a backpack (which would actually be awesome, imo. Very Lara-ish). She also had a few straps around her.

I think the straps are fantastic, I can't believe you didn't notice them. I think they are done much better in this new design (I love how they are coming down from her vest simply for fashion purposes as well as the ones around her waist and arms).

the dog-tags?

The dog tags certainly count, but truthfully, if I saw this character model by itself, with no context, particularly the game genre, the dog tags wouldn't go far for me. For all I know, she could be from Uncharted 2.

Now if I knew the model was for a fighting game, I would eventually deduce Sonya.

Oh, I see.

the bangs+pony tail (hair)? the gloves? the green+black pattern?

Is there green on her? confused Because if there is, that changes a lot. Color is so important when it comes to character signature.

Yeah. Her outfit is not all black. Most of it is actually a dark shade of green. Take another good look at the rendered pic and video.

What about the pony tail and her MkvsDC-style bangs?

queve Wrote:
However, as much as I see "Sonya" I also see that she is missing a shirt under that sexy vest. Very unlike "Sonya".

That's my one super major complaint.

You know, that's all it would really take. The tank top is a staple now, like Ermac's bandages and (hopefully soon) Jade's pigtails. She's had it for three games now (if you include the black one in MKSM); it's the edge that would make the costume into something definitive and representative.

I 100% agree with you.

I absolutely adore her design in MKvsDC and, imo, that one was flawless and perfect. The ONLY think this one is missing (for me to feel it's complete and perfect) is that undershirt. That's it.

She's not exposing her body like the rest of the females, but, the fact that she is showing some unnecessary portions of her boobs just for the sake of "eye-candy" and for the sake of "sex" is so unfitting for Sonya. Ugh. What were the designers and Ed thinking? Come on, she's SONYA BLADE!

I don't even care about the heels (never done for any female), for me, it's simply about the shirt. I do admit, however, that I'd prefer her awesome combat boots from the past. Makes her more unique and she looks sexier with them instead of heels.

So I recently went back to watch the Mkast again! And I saw them show Jax's Gotcha grab and he only did two punches! Now in all of the other MK's he does exactly 5 hits after the grab if you kept tapping the button! I'm pretty sure it's not finished yet but I hope it's still 5 hits! I also hope Jax's "Single" and "Double" missiles are both in this game! Also the ground slam! And I believe the punch Jax has been doing in the recent gameplay footage is the re imagining of the "dash punch" but I need that too!

The important part is "if you keep tapping the button".

Whoever was playing the game in the footage didn't keep tapping.
