There were several rumours circulating in the fall of last year regarding Mortal Kombat and potential 'Game of the Year' and bundled editions, cover-art of a 'Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition' seemingly leaked last month and has now been confirmed and officially announced by Netherrealm Studios.

Komplete Edition

This edition will feature all Four additional characters: Skarlet, Kenshi, Rain and Freddy Krueger, who were previously available through downloadable content. Along with those four kombatants, the Komplete Edition will also come bundled with Fifteen Character Skins (previously available in DLC Skin packs and compatibility packs) along with three classic fatalities for Scorpion, Reptile and Sub-Zero. Digital download codes for the original Mortal Kombat Movie and the Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired by the Warriors album are also components of this edition. Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition delivers the critically acclaimed game, all previously released downloadable content (DLC), plus digital downloads of the 2011 release of Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired by the Warriors album with a bonus track, and the 1995 Mortal Kombat film on the PlayStation®Store or Xbox Live Zune. The DLC includes fan-favorite warriors Skarlet, Kenshi and Rain, as well as the infamous dream stalker Freddy Krueger. The game also offers 15 Klassic Skins and three Klassic Fatalities (Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile). Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired by the Warriors is a collection of electronic music inspired by the game and is executive produced by JFK (of the DJ/ production duo MSTRKRFT and Death From Above 1979).

The Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition will be available for purchase on Tuesday, February 28th for both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

The announcement of this game edition is the second of three surprises teased by Kortal Kombat creator, Ed Boon. The first surprise being their Batman: Arkham City Lockdown game available for iOs devices. More news on the final surprise as it becomes available.

Update: 1/14/12: GameStop is advertising the price of MK: Komplete Edition to be $59.99 on both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. This makes the game a great value for those who have not yet purchased the game as it contains almost $20 of downloadable content for the original price of the game! You can also preorder the game for your system (360 or PS3).
