Remake = Update
Reboot = Reimagination

Not sure how the terms would apply gameplay or design wise, but in terms of story, a remake will follow the original story as it is...I imagine, with only some minor updates or changes to better gel with future canon (Raiden as the mentor, Quan Chi's involvement in Scorpion's revenge, acknowledging Bo' Rai Cho trained Liu Kang, etc).
A reboot basically takes the same characters and premise, and starts over.

You mean the PS3 magazine? Already out. Turns out the exclusive was Assassins Creed 3.

Already out? No. And "A top secret world exclusive PS3 game" isn't the same that "A top secret world PS3 exclusive game". Top secret world exclusive "PS3 game" = Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
A second World-Exclusive reveal = MK9? I don't know, we will see this Thursday.

I can't speak authoritatively since I don't physically have the issue, but TRMK edited their previous update with this:
Update 5/26: According to PSM the multi-platform reveal was the recently leaked Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. It was a far fetched guess, but sadly didn't pan out. Thanks Skillz for alerting us.
If their update was mistaken, awesome. I'd dip my man parts in boiling water for MK8 info at this point. Still, I don't think they are. TRMK has always been on the ball in the past.

lol at your refusal to refer to this as MK9. Temp, you are legendary. haha.
There was supposed to be 2 reveals in that mag, assassins creed is only one of them.. Still a shard of hope.
and for the reboot/remake.
A remake is mentally going back to where the events began and either keeping things the same with revised story, graphics and gameplay, or changing and adding more in terms of depth in story, characters, moves etc..
a Reboot could be one of 2 major things:
1- Going back to the beginning and throwing everything on its head so it would be a NEW MK1 that would keep some of the original but revamp the whole plot. A totally different game and a totally different Canon Story to branch off of.
2- Continue AFTER MKA in the same canon story with a sequel, but kill off 99% of the characters and plot devices. We are still in the universe but there are knows ties to use or branch off of. New characters and plot. This can be looked at as hitting the "reset" button on the whole franchise. But technecally, the story is till going on so we never re-started.
restarting without restarting canon wise. sort of like Resident Evil CVX to Resident Evil 4. Just kept a few characters but revamped the whole gameplay experience. Considered a rebooting of sorts. and after re6, weve recieved word that everyhting will change ONCE AGAIN...
Id LIKE to see a sequel for MK9. Just have Dahlia's vision be wrong as her power was given to her by the soul of the one being. So her vision was false and it was not the end. Have the shard of conciessness of the one being represented in boss-form while the rest of him are the realms themselves. The Kamidogu are still up for grabs in the canon story. Onaga defeated and gone for now, its a free-for-all to try n defend whoevers own objectives by not allowing all reality to become whole once again.
Have the canon story prevail in him being defeated and the kamidogu spread once again. then its back to a stable ground. invading realms and opposing forces and we can really concentrate on the individuals and their battles rather than "THE BIG ONE"
a sequel is entirely possible, just intersept the Dahlia factor and it can all go away.

Yeah, probably today TRMK.org is the best MK website (for news), but I think that they missunderstood the news about PSM3 UK, because in first all of us (me first) we think "a secret world - exclusive PS3 game" and not "a secret world exclusive - PS3 game".
But in the PSM3 blog, they compared Assassin's Creed Brotherhood with Valkirie Profile 3, InFamous 2 or The Last Guardian, all PS3 exclusives (well, VP3 isn't anounced yet). This is my main reason that we all missunderstood the "a secret world exclusive PS3 game".
But hey, the probably is still low... but better is nothing. I have a friend or two in England that can buy the mag for me. If the MK9 is revealed in the PSM3 UK, I will cover as fast as I can all the info. And if not the case, well, the limit date is 11th June, if in that day we won't see a MK9 trailer (of before of course), I will shot my brains myself lol

why the 11th??

Here's a "fact" about MK9's rating, just to help give factual information backed by a source (IGN), as well as the link to E3 (neither Midway nor Netherrealm Studios are on the list of exhibitors so far).
MK9 Will Be Rated M - http://games.ign.com/articles/996/996421p1.html
E3 - http://www.e3expo.com/
UPDATE: Warner Bros. does appear on the list.

Pre-E3 2010 in GameTrailers. Expect a lot of exclusive new trailers.

Of course it is. There was no way MK9s big reveal would be in a UK mag.
