Alright, let's talk about music in the new MK.
First of all, I loved MK3/UMK3/MKT music, as well as MK4/MKG music. It gave the game a dark feeling. I think it lacked that feeling from MKDA forward.
I would like to hear some music based on MK3/UMK3/MKT and MK4/MKG music. And if they get inspiration from the MK movie, that would be great!!

Music has always been an interest in mine. I always find the music of video games to be interesting..I dunno why.
I really liked the music from the MK3 era probably the best. Though all of the early games had great music. I think my favorite music from any of the games was the old Subway theme in Mortal Kombat 3, not just the music while fighting but also when you win a round. I hope that the music in this game features the old classics remade, a la what they did in Deception with the Courtyard and the Living Forest. If they want to make new music, I guess that'll do too, but I'd love for it to be based on the music of the old games.

I really wish they would add the Mortal Kombat theme song somewhere in the game. Every time I hear it, I get all excited and I feel like people get excited too because everyone knows it and its so iconic. They should at least play it during in the select screen or something.
As far as the games go, I always LOVED the score for The Falling Cliffs Arena in Deception and The House of Pekara in Deadly Alliance.

Dan Forden should just compose all the music using the same technology he had in 1995. MK3 was the peak of the series in terms of music IMO.
Hopefully we get a nice balance of old and new themes.

I remember back when Deception was being made I posted a thread about the Pit arena (which had just been revealed to make its return in the game) having the Mortal Kombat theme as its background music. I still like the idea of it being in there somewhere...sure it never came from the games, but its so closely related to the franchise, and also so many people recognize the song already.

Yeah man! I totally agree. The Pit arena is sooo iconic. If anyone ever see's it, they will remember, "Mortal Kombat." I just think that MK has such an amazing theme song, but it was only used for the movies. It probably has to do with some kind of copyright issue.
but WB are ballers!! They should hook it up and buy that song from someone! Thats my jam! :)

I like what they did with the remade Deception arenas and just remade the original songs. I'd like to hear that again.

Agreed. MK3 had the best music of all the MK games by far. Of course there were some good songs in MK:DA - MK:A, but nothing beats MK3, IMO.
Some of the best songs from that game :
The Subway
The Street
The Rooftops
The Bank
The Pit 3
The Temple
The MK3 Title Screen
Character Selection Screen (I even think this sounds good)
Hoping to see good remixes of these songs when playing in each respective stage.

I'd love to hear the original theme from MK1 in this game. I really miss hearing that.
Other than that just make sure there's another sweet remix of the living forest theme and i'll be set.
Hmmm maybe an homage to the Movie theme too. That'd be pretty epic imo

I think they should do remixes of the MK3 music pieces, along with some from MKDA and MKD. We could survive without music from MKA, other than the Hell arena music, it was rather lame compared to the others.

Although I liked MK3's music, I really thought MK and MK2 had the most dark, original tunes. The Courtyard, Shrine, and Goro's Lair in MK had some great eerie stuff. In MK2, the Living Forest, Armory, Dead Pool, and a few other stages had great music. It really created a more "ancient, mystical" atmosphere, while MK3 had more of a synthesized, fast paced tempo. In addition, the fatality music from MK2 was great... and the really low pitched hum at the end really created a creepy, morbid feeling. Who agrees?

MK2 and MKD had the best music IMO. Everything about MK3 was awful including the music, I think. Except maybe the church. That was sick. But, the select screen music for MK2 still gives me chills and pumps me up.

...Agreed. I have never heard someone say the music is awful from MK3, in fact, most people find it to be the best. It sets a perfect atmosphere. You are undoubtedly entitled to your own opinion, but I gotta say thats one crazy opinion.

About Me
I need a new sig, something with Kabal from UMK3 would be sweet. Just imagine that here

the first two games had the best music. I dont really go for the dark industrial stuff
I don't think the MK3 music is bad - on the whole opposite - but a lot of the tracks went in line with the drift away from the Eastern influence from the original game that MKII already took a few steps away from. There was a definite shift towards techno-rock, and while I love that, I thought it was a bit too overt in MK3. MK4/G's shift back towards the atmospheric sound was probably my favorite thing about the game.
There are exceptions, though. I really, really want to hear new versions of the Church and Graveyard themes.

actually i didn't too much care for MK3's soundtrack either. personally, i feel the music was at it's best when MKD came out. Dark Prison, Falling Cliffs, and Select Screen were just a few of my favorite tracks. one thing i would like to see and hear though is a remastered Church level from MK3.
