Same here, I didn't care for it when the very small render was released. However, now that I see him up-close I really like it. (I do miss the hair though)

I do not agree with the last statement, as Rain has always been rather clothed and so have all the other male Edenians seen in-game. That said, I would like a less-dressed outfit for Rain actually. Not something slutty or inappropriate though.

I beg to differ.
In case another smart-a fails to notice, let me point out the elements I find way too familiar:

-a bandanna-like mask, as opposed to a tight-fitting one
-rope incorporated into parts of the outfit
-side guards, except for the knee and elbow pads added for Rain

So here Rain DOES look like the VF ninja first, and a prince second, while in MK:A it was the other way round. And since VF5 came out looooong before MK9, it looked for me like a natural comparison. Sure, the word 'rip-off' may have been an exaggeration, and I would have appreciated putting it in this way, lol.

BTW whooaaa, you got me. I did write words of hate in my message. Read it backwards.

Seriously, I love Rain and I would never even think comparing him to Kage-Maru was an insult. U guys are just sooooo sensitive;)

Well, there's Taven, the male Edenian civilians in MK Deception's Konquest mode, the two guards following Kitana in Kung Lao's MK Gold ending, even Argus in MK: Armageddon.
