Still, whatever this is, it looks like it could be cool. It's a huge artbook though so it'll probably include all the conceptual artwork for MK9 so this creature could just be a simple background feature for all we know.

That Shao Kahn keeps a pet is a little strange. I dunno - a pet cat just seems more Dr. Evil than Kahn.

Let's not forget about concept art characters who never existed, yes. Lots of those in MK:DA and in MK:D as well. There might be some in this book too, you never know.

I can't see Kahn placing that Giant Monster in his lap and caressing it.

Another thing that occurs to me is I kinda hope this is the last of the giant animals in stages. The Arena has the Tormentor, Scorpion's Lair has Cerberus, and now Kahn's Throne has the big cat. Any more and it'd be overdoing it.

I guess if they were to bring back the Kombat Tomb, the pterodactyls in the sky would be fair too, though. I always did like that stage.

Well maybe not. But this creature actually has a name unlike the Masked Guards and Shadow Priests. TotalMK gave the Tormentor it's name or he claimed NRS told him so. We have never recieved official confirmation of that yet.

I always thought the huge cerberus in Scorpion's level was a huge statue (despite of it being in chains).

Its eyes are glowing. Pretty sure it's a real Cerberus and will move around and do stuff in the game.

Anyone got a picture of this Cerberus? I must have missed that.

TotalMK posted audio from E3 where Hector Sanchez said the creature was the Tormentor.

I agree, unless there's a Reptile's lair. Then I wouldn't mind the giant snake. (Alive this time) :)

Meh, never really liked Reptile's lair. I'd prefer the place where he lives to officially be the Bottom of the Pit.

Ah, thanks! I never noticed that before. It looks really cool. Even if I'm not crazy about most of the character designs, the rest of the art direction for this game is really impressive.

If they ever bring Reptile's Lair back, they should combine it with MKA's Reptile Lair si that you can see the MKA version through a doorway in the center of the original MK4 version.

Tarb... terb... torb...? Considering that the bottom text says "Koncept", I wouldn't trust my sharpening of the image. As for the creature, it appears to have a massive set of fangs. I can't tell if it has a separated mandible, or if those are just horns.

That creature reminds me of something out of Killer Instinct.

Tarbone? Tarborus? Something along those lines.

Other than the bitchin' music,I didn't really like Armageddon's take on Reptile's Lair. It looked too clean and shiny and architecturally sound for a creature who used to reside at the bottom of the fucking Pit so he could get first dibs on all the corpses.

I did enjoy the tiny little altar with what I assume was supposed to be a Raptor egg (I guess Khameleon and Reptile were gettin' busy while the world was going to hell,but we'll never find out now) hovering above it. :3

Now Shaolin Monks,that was a game that was doing it right.

While I'm bummed that it's not Motaro, I'm glad that I finally get to see what figures I'm getting in my KE preorder! I was kinda upset at how awesome the EU version's figure was, but now that I see this I like this one better!
