-New arcade ladder; Players will have to complete challenges of varying difficulty as they move up, earning currency as they do so. If a player can't get by a specific challenge, they can buy their way past it.

-Netherrealm Studios is currently in talks with manufacturers for MK Arcade Sticks. Nothing is certain yet, though.

-People can watch matches online and rate players 1-10. Players can also make their feelings known during the match, as well.

-Also, Rain (Armageddon form) and some sort of High Priest character can be seen in the background of a church-like arena.

Maybe Rain could wear brown instead of purple this time around, so he could be Chocolate Rain.

This is all starting to sound like the most challenging, thought-out, in-depth, most exciting MK to date. Congrats to Boon and Netherrealm Studios, don't crush my hopes! lol

I am LOVING all the cameos they are throwing in the backgrounds. Looks like the church is making a comeback, awesome!
This game sounds like a true fan service. Let's just hope the gameplay is as deep as they say it is. A little disappointed about the story mode, but maybe it will pan out ok.

I am already saving up for either a 360 or a PS3. Congrats, Netherrealm Studios, you were responsible for a new system purchase.

Same here although i'm leaning more to Xbox 360 as it's cheaper.

I'm loving the sound of everything about this game including the stroy mode (whats no to like about going back in time and messing up MK 1,2 and 3 history).

Probably, but like Kenshi, he might just be there as temporary filler. But yes, this most likely this indicates he's been omitted.

Can't say I'd miss him, but still kinda surprising. For some reason, I thought he'd make the cut. I guess it pays to be relevant.

Skaven, Worthy.

I have both systems and my honest word is, Get it on the PS3.

You see the Xbox360 is $100 cheaper, but take into account that there is no harddrive in the arcade version you are buying, theres $80-$100. You need a $50 GOld membership card to play online. Plus the constant purchase of batteries $10 $10 $10 $10 $10 etc.. or buy a recharg($40) pack AND station. $$20-$30.

The Xbox360 actually costs more to get what you want out of it, You are looking at between $400 and $450 plus tax to really set yourself up.

+ Wireless adpator if you have wireless internet... chock on more money..

Ps3 with a free online option, 120GB built in HD, chargable controller pack built in, wireless built in and a superior controller for fighting games with the D-Pad(IMO) will only cost you $300 plus tax.

Plus you get to paly against me smile, well I will have it for both but just because I have friends on both systems. But PS3 gets the deffinate win no contest. I must give XBox its due tho, Its online is very responsive and delivers well.

Or he gets the new design Xbox 360 for $300 with built in wireless and a wired controller so no need to pay for batteries.
From a money point of view anyways.

Lol i sound like a fanboy but i assure u im not. I think the PS3 is great with Blu Ray and all. I would get one but there are no exclusives on it that make me want one. If MK was only on PS3 id be gettin one for sure.

Wired controllers are restricting, Plus the $50 online fee + D-pad option still puts PS3 ahead by enough for it to be a no-brainer.

This, AND The 360 has had a play n charge kit AND a charge station for years. Buy whatever you want, but consider what YOUR friends have. It's the better route. Side note- 50 bucks a year for online isn't that bad if you have even the smallest source of income. You can even pay about 20 dollars every three months, despite it being more expensive over time. Not being a 360 fanboy, just helping you decide on what you want to buy. People don't understand these systems are virtually the same damn thing nowadays, it just depends on what games you like.

Anyway, I like the idea of buying your way out of challenges. Test your might is ok, just not after every fight.

I am in Canada. Prices are bound to vary. I tried to hit the middle the best I could. Even with those points, it would be about even anyways. And i have never seen an XBox for $150. Maybe the slim?

Either way, if all thats true (for usa prices). Then its about even anyways.

So for me, it comes down to Controller. Both have joysticks but Ps3, I dont care whos an Xbox maniac in here. Cannot deny the crappiness of the Xbox D-Pad. Superior joysticks, but horrible D-pad. This is what made me get MKDC on ps3.

But games like NHL or shooters, I get on Xbox.

Im still sticking to ps3. sorry guys.

I wouldn't count Rain out so fast, or any other character in the backround. Cyrax was in the backround of the desert, but that didn't stop him from fighting.

New arcade mode sounds interesting. It'll be an interesting change from the normal arcade ladder mode, although maybe the normal arcade mode could still be there?

Tower of Power may not be a "New arcade" mode. I would immagine the classic Arcade mode wills till be in there. I cant see them getting rid of that. TOP is more of a challange mode.

I'm also liking the sound of the arcade mode. Not just a simple "beat the next guy, then beat the next guy and repeat."

That's fantastic!!

I'm really hoping that those challenges are all fighting related though, like "beat your opponent in under 20 seconds" or "3 man endurance match" as opposed to crappy minigames or something along those lines.

Either way though, I like what I'm hearing.

As for Rain, if he looks anything like his dopey costume in MKA, than no thanks. If he looks anything like his dopey purple ninja outfit from every other game he's been in, then no thanks.

I wish they'd give rain his more classic ninja style look instead of that ugly Armageddon look.

As far as which console to get it for, it just depends. They are both the same price now, they both leave out the HD cables so you have to buy them seperately, they both have wifi included with the 360 having wireless N which is better than the one the ps3 slim has, while ps3 has blu ray that really doesn't mean much to me because I don't like using my gaming machine to watch movies, I don't want to wear out the drive that way. One thing you can do on the 360 that the ps3 does not allow you to do is install the game on the harddrive so you can save your disc drive from even having to spin at all once the game is loaded, ofcourse you have to keep the copy of the game in the drive so they know you still have it but that's fair. The advantage the ps3 has is the controller has a better D pad and the online gameplay is free, with that being said xbox live is a better online experience than psn so that helps justify the cost a little. I'd just go with what ever system ur friends have that way you can play against them online instead of a bunch of strangers.

The new black 360's also have built in wi-fi, got one last week. Pretty awesome, but PS3 still owns XBoxLive.

Speaking as someone who owns both systems, Cassleman is right, Xbox 360's are basically holes that you throw money into. You save more in the long run with a PS3, plus its going to be in 3-D!

And I'm really excited about the arcade stick news!
