Well if you consider the official site launch inconsequential then yeah, you might be a tad underwhelmed. What you're not considering though is that a full site launch bodes an easier, streamlined, way for Netherrealm to start dropping updatea. Not to mention a forum community that the devs will actively be viewing and participating in.

i live an hour away from chicago, meaning i am the same central time zone as the countdown. it is 10:20pm here and the countdown clock says 1 hour and 40 minutes to go, i.e. it will be monday morning of the 11th at 12:00am central time.

also, there has been ZERO promises, assurances, guarantees, etc., about what will happen when the countdown finally stops. anyone who has hyped themselves in to expecting a grand event has only themselves to blame if nothing much happens. there could be oodles of new info to see, there could be very little. either way, they never said a word so i would stop all the threats.

No, WB is already to blame for the poor pace of releasing information. This countdown is their shot at redemption. If they can't get it right at this point, then the time has come for torches and pitchforks.

When I went to pax Hecter said the pace at which they start releasing info would be slow and painfull till about early next year.

Really now? So a company POSTING this big timer on a website doesn't automatically set some sort of expectation that something cool should happen once said big timer reaches zero? Now that's a grand marketing strategy if ever I heard one...confused

I didn't see the actual change but now there's just empty black space where the timer was. Oh and a HD render of Tremor doing a Fatality on Frost.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/conjecture

yet again, since it did not sink in the first time, they have not made any promises about the timer, YOU, and others like you, have. that is called conjecture. do not get pissed at them for your own made-up reality of expectations.

You're being naive if you don't think countdowns imply grand updates.

How was it conjecture? There was a countdown. And nothing did happen.

This.

I believe it is YOU that is not letting our comments sink in. Your dictionary posting did nothting but show you know how to get to dictionary.com. Way to go. That did NOTHING to counter my, or Temp's, arguement....by posting a counter on their website, the company is setting up an expectation. If you run a company, are you really going to throw a random timer on a website and have it run out with hardly an update, or at best, a mediocre one? At best, you will make a lot of fans start to lose interest. At worst, you will tick off said fans and jade them further. Not a great start at all.

My countdown says we have a whole day left on the countdown, and the twitter feeds say some folks won't get the big reveal until Tuesday according to their time zone, so I think we're going to have to way at least one more day.

wow... the amount of diaper shitting over a website countdown is amusing beyond words. the game is 6 to 7 months away and people are acting like rabid assholes over a website countdown. what does it matter if the countdown result is revealed a few hours from now, or a day from now, the game is still 1/2 year away. think people have to put things in to perspective before freaking out on an internet forum...

How dare you! A countdown timer counting down to something I have no idea what is just as important as the final game that won't be out for over half a year! This is SYMBOLIC of their opinions on us, and if the countdown timer counts down and there's nothing there, I will be personally insulted because they obviously didn't care about their fans at all... so I have no idea why they'd do a count down timer for us anyway!

Also, Mortal Kombat sucks. Long live MvC3 and MODOK!

@ DieHumanless

I know what you mean... we have 5-6 months until the game is released, but when you post a countdown, people heavily rely on an accurate time. When the countdown starts at two weeks and people patiently wait those two weeks, and then all of a sudden the countdown changes on the last day (or last few hours), then it creates a problem. NOW, to put it into perspective, that's like saying there's a new ... let's say artist w/ a new CD coming out. Sure, fans are going to have to wait until the CD is released, but if there is a countdown that is informing fans of a preview of a song, then people will get eager. It's normal to become anxious over little things like this.

The thing is that if a fucking timer has been set for 12 fucking days to reveal some fucking thing worth counting down 12 days for, and after 12 days all you get is another fucking day added, it can piss you off and it says something about the credibility of their actions and service, and as mentioned before, their opinion of us. The least they could have done was to come with an apology to the fans instead of coming with a fucking excuse of a bug in the timer. So excuse us for not acting like fucking Ghandi in the situation.

I don't see it on twitter. The last msg showing for me was that there was a bug. And it would have been more appropriate to put it on themortalkombat.com itself.

This is the 1st official MK fan based website in history. It is supposedly created on the 10.10.10 memorable date. So it's normal for big MK fans to count each second for it to start.

What worries me is that some people/countries will have access to it later after it's first open, in order to avoid overloaded subscribers/viewers at the same time which will lead to website functional problems.
