Prima Games Offer Character Card Redemption

Prima Games Deliver Reprinted Cards for Dissatisfied Customers

Publishers of the Official Mortal Kombat Strategy Guide, Prima Games, have responded to controversy surrounding missing and incorrect information provided in their character lists with a redemption offer.

Announced via their website; Prima will offer reprinted character reference cards to anyone who purchased standard and kollector's editions of the Guide [full details]. The new cards will include correct information for each of the games playable characters, with a complete list of fatality and babality inputs that were previously missing.

To redeem the new set of cards, those who purchased the Guide can e-mail their name and address to feedback@primagames.com. Prima will not require proof of purchase, relying on an honor system in an attempt to make amends with disappointed customers. Turnover for the reprinted cards will require patience as they process requests.

Mortal Kombat Online will continue to follow the story as it develops. Thanks to user for posting about it on our forums.

I'm not sure I'll even bother asking for new cards. I didn't buy the guide for the moves lists or anything to begin with and what they're offering is still not replacing what I did buy it for, so I don't much see the point.

Glad to see they're at least attempting something besides PDF downloads, but like T said.. too little too late.

Man, I got an all new respect for Prima for this... They shouldn'f do anything. People need to stop bitching. Seriously, what happened to the adventure of discovering new finishing moves. When I got the game, I didn't even know there WERE babalities. And then when I found out, it was that much of an extra surprise. And I was happy that the guide didn't ruin it for me.

When you buy a strategy guide,you are paying for quality information. Leaving certain important bits of information out on purpose is total fucking bullshit.

I don't enjoy being spoiled either,but that's why I personally didn't even look at the guide until I at least beat the Story mode. You see? I am the one who has to exercise restraint here,not the guide writers. That's not their job. Their job is tell me every single thing there is to know about the game. That's what they're getting paid for.

The typo stuff, I understand peeps being upset about that, but don't forget there are somethings that even strategy guides can't tell you for business reasons. e.g. MK Deception guide, Liu Kang is referred to as ??? because Midway didn't want Liu's inclusion to be given away, not even by the strat guide. Later a second guide was published and had most of the content including Liu Kang in it.

With this guide Babalities weren't mentioned in the guide, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was Netherrealm's or WB's call just to keep the whole "secretive" feeling from yesteryear.

I do think these updated cards are a great gesture, and it shows some character from Prima to give you a free update.

IMO I could care less bout the typos. I mean I can just as easily write down their moves from the in-game movelist. What pisses me off is them leaving out the info that actually got me interested in the guide in the first place. That being the warrior evolution and fatality theater. They need to fix that problem

I'm so pissed I'm returning it open to Amazon.com. They can decide how they want to process the refund - whether to give it to me in full or just partial. It saves me the time trying to sell it.

No offense but strategy guides usually sucked even back in the 1980s and 1990s. They have always sucked. Why are people mad? I can only guess it is because this is the very first strategy guide some people have purchased? Much like the krypt in the actual game, the guide is just gonna be filled with fluff that will end-up online, anyways.
