raiden get's a vision of quan chi telling rain about argus being his dad. raiden tells rain that his father was an edenian general who was killed by shao kahn.

rain is devestated that he helped the man who killed his father, rain joins earthrealm but isn't trusted by any of his allies. in an attempt to prove his loyalty, rain tries to kill skarlett. after defeating her, quan chi shows up and tells rain that argus was his father, causing raidens vision to happen sooner

rain doesn't care if argus was his father, figuring that his adopted father cared enough to die for freedom compared to argus who did nothing to protect his son. rain leaves to rejoin his allies. only to arrive just after shao kahn dies.

I would easily take Scorpion's generic vengeance tale over Rain's relation to that idiot of a god. Just be glad Rain is having more of a chance to develop into something better then that garbage. Trust me, I miss Ol' Scorp's DA-D Story, but Armageddon fucked that up for him.

As for Rain's personality, I always pictured him as a selfish asshole, using people to achieve power at any cost. He would have his friends murdered just for a high rank in Shao Kahn's army. I also picture him as being kinda like the opposite of Liu Kang. Liu Kang was just a monk who one day rose to become champion, yet is still humble. Rain fell from a position of power, but became a soldier for Shao Kahn, and now is very full himself. That's just my 2 cents on him.

Oh yeah, his intro quote should be "Your foolishness shall be your downfall!"

I would like to see how Rain learned about his divine heritage and what he was doing as a warrior for Shao Kahn. Did he learn about his heritage before, after or while he was working for Kahn? What are his motives? Stuff like that.

My guess:

Shinnok knew since he was a former EG and informed QC to tell Rain, to help eliminate Taven and insure Daegon's/Shinnok's victory.

Actually,he was told about his heritage by Quan Chi,just before Armageddon,that's why he wanted to kill Taven in Arctica,believing he is the only son of Argus deserving that prize at the pyramid.And from what we read in his small mini-bio,he betrayed the Resistance against Shao Kahn because the Emperor proposed him something (probably what I think,the right to rule Edenia and Kitana as his future wife)

They should have a extra chapter in Story Mode for Rain(or not)

Yea, he is cool. His story won't matter since he won't be in another game, hence he is only a DLC afterthought. I reckon his gameplay will be decent but he will prob get banned from tourneys (for a while). He will have a kick move. En of Rain's story.

Do me a HUGE favor and be quiet. You sound silly. You have no knowledge of who'll appear in another game or not. You never know, maybe NRS saw the huge demand for him in this game and might decide to put him in MK10 because of it. If there's one thing you can't deny is that this game showed that he has more fans than some of the MK4-MKA characters combined, so if they're most likely to return in the future, why isn't he?

And even if he didn't appear in MK10, why should all the other DLC characters get attention paid to their stories and not him when he was the most requested of the bunch? You people just don't think around here.

The revelation of his heritage was the only thing that made him interesting to me from a narrative standpoint; Jade had dibs on being the Edenian with wavering allegiances before Rain came along. It set him apart a bit, gives him good reason to be a bastard.

Hummmm you need to take others opinions as serious as yours some times Ahnka, I mean, there are a lot of people who consider the Argus son stuff crap and they have the right to think and express it, and there are people who think that their ideas are great for the character and there is no need to say "it's horrible" and one line later tell your own idea as if it were much much better. I mean... being a bit more humble in that sense wouldn't hurt :P I agree on dislinking this dieas, but saying how horrible they were and then throw your own ideas doesn't feel very right I think.

Ahnka, relax... You have to start to accept that Rain isn't a loved character by everyone, and that it is alright that he isn't. You like him, and that is what is important. He is coming as a DLC, he will finally be playable in this game, so fuck what anyone else have to say about that. Just enjoy that he is coming and stop caring what others opinions are about Rain. Because their opinions do not matter.
