Okay, I can see that many people absolutely love Sareena. I've seen ideas of incorporating her demon form into her fighting style, and other stuff like that.

What about Kia and Jataaka? They have important ties with Quan Chi, they should be involved in Mortal Kombat 2011, too!

Why not? Everyone agrees that Mortal Kombat definitely needs more females in it. We have Kia and Jataaka, so why not make them playable?

I like this idea. It would give this installment some "new" characters to play as, as well as adding more females to the game. And you are right, they have a decent role with quan chi, and as well as sareena, sub-zero, and noob saibot.

I would love to see Jataaka and Kia in the game. They could be great hidden characters, and if they don't make the initial game, they should definitely be DLC. Afterall, they are part of the story of this particular era of MK. They deserve a spot over characters like Tremor, or Skarlett anyways, because Kia and Jataaka actually have a story and are characters that are probably the only minor characters that have not been playable, that are worth keeping around.

As far as making them individual characters, they could give them each different moves, to seperate them from each other. Maybe even give them a new outfit. They would be great to incorporate in the game with an altered story, with having them survive sub-zero. They could also form some sort of alliance with Noob-Saibot.

I can't imagine Kia and Jataaka having much to offer in terms of storyline since they're both just henchmen. Sareena's the only interesting one of the three and that's specifically because she has a will of her own and doesn't want to serve Quan Chi.

It'd be kinda like saying "Let's put some more Tarkatans in there" when there's nothing you could do with them that you can't just do with Baraka and Mileena. Or "Let's have a playable Shadow Priest" when Shang Tsung IS a playable Shadow Priest.

Yeah, to me Sareena is special because she is DIFFERENT from Kia and Jataaka. The main reason she stands out is she didn't fall in line like they did; she rebelled against her master, defied his authority, threw her lot in with their enemy, and gambled her soul to escape the Netherrealm, which was her very home.

Also, unlike Kia and Jataaka, she fights against her own demonic nature. Both Kia and Jataaka held no dreams or ambitions, showed no independence, or proved themselves to be anything other than lackeys for Quan Chi. They did what he commanded, no questions asked. Sareena, however, DID question Quan Chi, endured his abuse, and when the opportunity came to defy him she took it. In her own words, she "waited an eternity to escape" and, well, she finally DID escape his grasp... but only after enduring more years of torture and punishment in the Netherrealm.

I fully support Sareena for the game because she's actually a very good, well-rounded character with depth, dreams, motivation, aspirations, ambitions, focus, and strong desires. She craves more, longs for something better, to be something better, and she fights and claws her way through years of torture and abuse to get her freedom, even as it continues to slip through her fingers. Jataaka and Kia? They don't have any of her spark, none of her personality or inner ambitions. They're servile lackeys and seemed content with that status quo. They'll serve Quan Chi to their dying breath... but Sareena craves nothing more than to be free of him.

Of Sareena, Kia, Jataaka and Quan Chi, the only one who should ever be included in future MK games is Sareena.

As much as I support Sareena...I think Quan Chi is quite a bit more important (and popular).

Hey Bezou.

Quan Chi is a much more developed, better characterized and more legitimately threatening villain than Shang Tsung ever was.

The two of them don't deserve unique slots on any roster. But were there ever to be another two-in one boss combo a la Noob-Smoke? I might be interested.

Nah, Quan Chi is just a boring invincible villain with chronic backstabbing disorder. Not a real or credible threat at all. Just an overpowered mook.

As opposed to Shang Tsung, who's just a sniveling, backstabbing Starscream pastiche that hasn't been a threat since his first appearance? :3

Stop bashing Shang Tsung or i'll take your souls!

In my option... even though they were lackys i still like to see them as future DLC characters.

If for some reason Sareena is in the game, Kia and Jataaka should just be her alt costumes. Nothing more.

If not, don't include them at all, maybe a cameo in the story mode.

I though that Bi-Han killed Kia and Jataka.

I would like to see Quan Chi (they can say whatever they want, but this is the MK villian with a more developed personality and plot, and is key in the storyline of Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Noob, not to mention he helped resurrect Sindel to force the outworld invasion, or that he aided Shinnok against the other gods).

And of course I would like to see Sareena, probably my fav. female character from MK story. But Kia and Jataka as someone said, are just henchmen. And probably they are dead :P

Imagine having 4 generic tarkatans to the game, people would be disapointed, now put 4 characters with names (Baraka, Huey, Dewei and Louie for example :P) that are tarkatans... this would be the same but some people will defend Louie saying has a cool story and offers a lot to the plot, just like they do with some characters (I'm looking at you Rain xDDDD). You really only need Baraka out of this group.

Same happens with Sareena, Kia and Jataka. The 3 are females with similar power sets and origins. Sareena was lucky to be the most beautiful of them so Bi-Han decided she didn't deserve to die, and this way she became the only one with a story to be told.

1) The only bosses you can do a Fatality to in Mythologies are Scorpion and Sareena. Kia and Jataaka just fall to the ground unconscious when you beat them.

2) Death means nothing to a demon. If you did kill them, they'd lose their human-looking form and descend to the 5th level of the Netherealm just like Sareena did when Shinnok zapped her dead, but because Kia and Jataaka are still loyal to Quan Chi, he'd just set them free and make them look human again.

3) They appear in Armageddon.

I approve of Kia and Jataaka appearing in as a sort of a 2 on 1 hidden battle with the potential to expand the two in the next game or something.

I mean really it could have been any of the 3 of them in Sub Zero mythologies that wanted to break free from the Netherrealm before Shinnok killed her for the lolz.

Sareena should at worst be DLC. Seeing as this is the big MK revinvention storyline wise they'll be going for Deadly Alliance/Deception style bios for all of them. So Subby and Sareenie may be star crossed lovers soon.

Which is wierd in a MK game. I mean apart from the Liu Kang and Kitana thing there is nothing else really. I mean some fans think Sonya and Johnny because of the movie.

I guess what I am saying is MK needs more love. Everything needs more love though. Not just MK.

Bring on the love.

i hope and pray mk never make a 2 in 1 character EVER AGAIN .

and on topic, a big NO to kia or jataaka. im still waiting for cool characters like baraka and reptile to be given better stories as opposed to being just boring henchmen, we dont need two more of them!

To me, Kia and Jataaka would be "clones" of Sareena should they become playable characters in the game, like Ken and Sakura are clones of Ryu, like Reptile and Ermac are clones of Scorpion/Sub Zero, like Mileena and Jade are clones of Kitana etc... While those "clones" have evolved into their individual characters over each game, I think it is time to let go of the cloning process and focus more on original characters.

Sareena represents the female demons from the Netherrealm, she represents Quan Chi's assassins, she represents MK: Mythologies AND she is different in that she has an actual in-game reason to appear in the game with her connections to Sub Zero and Quan Chi.

Kia and Jataaka simply aren't important enough to be in the game, in my opinion. They were killed in MK:M, but returned later to serve as Quan Chi's henchmen once more... but that's all there is to them.

Other henchmen characters of Mortal Kombat have alot more depth to them, such as Reptile and Baraka. Kia and Jataaka would simply just be filler characters. To me, Rain, Stryker, Sheeva - they are all more important characters than those two.

Maybe in the next game...

Sareena and Quan Chi playable from start and Kia and Jataka DLC or SUs. I like the idea on working them into the next game. Also, if they kill Quan Chi off early, well for the 1st time lol, maybe the hold on Kia and Jataaka will be released, allowing them to be themselves. I liked Jataaka's look, she resembled a voodoo doctor or something kinda freaky and had moves like Maya in KI with her laser sword beams were kewl, don't remember much about Kia though some boomerang weapon and spin move I believe was all she had. I'd give em one shot at least for someone new but definitely not on the regular roster.

Kia and Jataaka holds nothing important towards the story other than being servants to Quan Chi. Sareena actually has a backstory to her entire character, the others don't. Including them in means that they're going to have to be somewhat important enough to have them in the game. Otherwise, what's the point in including them in? Nothing really.
There may not be any importance to Kia and Jataaka since they are just henchmen, but that doesn't mean they can't have their own backstory.

Kia and Jataaka were given hardly any storyline other than being Quan Chi's henchmen. Why not give them a story?

Some ideas I thought of as a backstory include:

1) One or both of them are planning to kill Quan Chi in the future and follow in his footsteps.

2) They can both have a love interest in Quan Chi. But Quan Chi only picks one of them, which makes the other want to kill the one Quan Chi chose. (Since Quan Chi has not shown any favoritism among his servants)

3) One or both of them are actually a spy; this would be a pretty big plot twist.

The question isn't whether they can have a story ,it's should they. Are we really willing to give up other legitimate characters for two less popular, and little known Sareena type characters? We've been down this road before with the henchmen garbage, remember Jarek, Kira & Kobra? They offered little to the over all story and were for the most part disliked by the public.

For that matter they haven't even given Sareena that much play time, and she's the only one who's actually relevant to anything. So at this point in time I would say they're not worth exploring, they'd just be in the way. I'd rather them perfect Sareena's play and story, before they bring either of them in. Sareena's moves lacked the finishing touches that would've made her a complete character, I dread to think what would happen if they tried to force these two into the game.
