So.... about Shang Tsung

Based on the recent interview with Hec pretty much confirming that our soul stealing badboy is back, it would logically also confirm that it is old man Shang! I'm really super excited because I've always wanted to play him in his old form.

"We wouldn't waste time modeling him if he wasn't going to be in..."



There you have it, another character added to the roster. I just wonder if Shang Tsung will be sitting in his throne when he's supposed to be fighting? now if they eliminated him sitting in the throne while fighting, that would be real paying attention to detail right there.

Yeah if they have him not sitting when he's fighting on stage that will be great detail. Which I already know they have thought about and fixed because come on, they've done great so far.

i like the look but i really preferd the no legs and floaty-ness in MK1 it made him more superier

In this version he looks exactly like his DA self but with white hair, I liked the original crusty as hell, Fu manchu like look

I dunno, it kinda looks like he has a Fu manchu in that picture. I could be wrong though.

Either way, I'm LOVING the idea of playing as old man Shang Tsung!! I'm hoping that they'll also give you the option to play as the younger version as an alt costume, but having the old geezer as a playable character is SWEET!!

Shang Tsung should really come back, after Armageddon we had Vandal Savage fill-in for him in his absence due to some mysterious reason, and now it seems Hugh Hefner's asian half-brother will be doing the honours of cosplaying Shang Tsung.

I really hope Shang Tsung gets out of his predicament for MK10.

OMG! ShangTsung is gonna be like Heihachi Mishima of Mortal Kombat!!! Finally we get to play as Old Man Tsung cuz it seems like he's been young forever!smile
I do think it's cool that he is going back to the old man look from the first game. But I always preferred his look from the second game, so maybe that costume will be an alternate. And I think it would be sweet if he had the bed of nail fatality again. But he for sure has to have the soul steal fatality. That's a must.

Bed of nails yes! For the soul steal it's gotta be like the old ones where the body is completely drained and maybe the body can look like at the end of The Last Crusade.

Where the Nazi drinks the water from the wrong grail and his hair grows rapidly and he turns into an old man and the body drops like a bad of bones with their clothes still on.

No, it made him look like an old bald lady in a nightgown.

But anyway, I'm glad to see old Shang back. He's been young for like the past 17 years.
He's a shape shifter, he can look like anyone right? Then why in the hell would he choose to be a 90 year old man? That never made sense to me.

I think when he takes the form of another he can only hold it for so long and it might weaken him if he goes to long, so he stays in his natural form till he has to shift... I could be 130% wrong but that's my thoughts on it...
Ok makes sense, but then how do you explain the change from MK1 to MK2?

They DID explain it in the game. Shao Kahn used magic to make him young again. It had nothing to do with his shapeshifting.

That's the opposite of how his powers work. The whole reason he steals souls is to stop aging.

I have said this before but maybe there is a stage fatality during the storymode is Shang Tsung taking the soul of the loser. And maybe it makes him younger... Idk. Just a thought
