She shouldn't be based on anything. I'm tired of these dull, uninspiring new characters. WE NEED ORIGINALITY. Or at least I do. All you guys seem to want is cyborgs and ninjas.

I want Kang's green palette swap, the male vampire, Tiamat, and Baphomet.

I would love it if "Skarlett" turns out to be a sorceress of some sort instead of being a plain warrior or ninja character which there are so many of already in Mortal Kombat. Red being her main colour, both of hair and outfit, it would be awesome if she had some powers that included blood. Not like Nitara, spitting out a ball of blood, but much more versatile. Making her alot more of a morbid character would be absolutely ideal for a more original character. The only other morbid character (in MK standard, that is) is Havik, because he could twist and bend unlike any other character in MK. That made him quite original and a very interesting character in my opinion.

Another character who uses blood as his chosen element is Jedah from the Darkstalker series. Here's some examples on how he uses his powers:


One of the more morbid attacks is that he cuts off his head and the blood sprays on the opponent like corrosive acid.


Giving him extra reach, Jedah cuts off his arm and makes it hit the opponent with only the blood in between his limbs hold it together.


Somewhat like the above, except this time it is his fingers and long nails that do the damage.

These are just mere examples on how it could work.

Oh yeah, annother character I want is Skully.

I agree with this. I'm kind of tired of how a lot of these new characters were mostly unoriginal... The only one I thought of was Hotaru and Li Mei.

And cyborgs are just not what they used to be anymore... I wish they were like the Terminators... They were the best cyborgs ever.

Heck, they finally brought in a vampire, but she was useless. I never liked the concept of her, I thought her story was dull... Just not vampire-like for my taste.

IF and only if, this character is brought to life, I would be glad to see something totally new and never brought up before in a MK game with this character. Otherwise, you can forget me giving this character a chance.

@ppl asking for originality and something new and different. Just won't happen. I could see Lady in Red using sword and has spellcasting abilities - which would own so much.

And why not? It's original and fits the MK theme. Having her be yet another typical warrior character would just be boring, and having her use a sword would be even more so. Swords are but the most boring melee weapon of all times. At least give her an interesting weapon if she should wield one, like a scythe or something.

Actually, a scythe would work well with the whole blood theme.

I would not hate Nitara if she didn't look like Elvira with wings.

How do you know that's going to happen? Because the last few new characters this series got were uninspiring and not really fan favorites? Well, unfortunately for you, I can assure you that if there's a new character entering this game, they're going to be something we obviously haven't seen yet. That's the point of a new character being introduced.

If not, then there's no point in adding a character that we've already seen from an existing character, just in a different character. Despite that she's one of my favorites, I'm talking about Frost. Despite that she was a new character, her moves were basically Sub-Zero's. Her ground freeze move was the only different move that we've never seen from Sub-Zero.

So having her be unoriginal because apparently you said so makes no sense and lacks creativity. Why create a character that has nothing new to introduce to the MK fans.



And this I must agree to add on to what I had to say. Swords are not interesting anymore. If this character somehow had a weapon that we wouldn't see in a fighting game, I would make my jaw drop because honestly I would totally love to see a scythe since the last time we saw it was basically back in MK4... And it was Noob's weapon...

Yeah, originality works great for new characters. Suddenly claiming that new characters won't have original concepts and such... it loses focus and just be boring to see.

Moving on, I don't mind a new character with new abilities (that aren't in MK right now) but by the looks of things you guys and gals want to see a new character that is a new species or something. That's all well and good but experimenting with Lady in Red..No! No!

Your idea is to take a character whose design is considered boring for consisting of a bikini, thigh-highs, a scarf, and a mask by changing the costume to a scale-mail bikini and getting rid of the thigh-highs, scarf, and mask.

... Right

The higher-res screenshot over in that recent thread has me liking her current outfit, now that a bit more detail can be seen on it, such as grey lining on the mask, and shoulder guards. Liking hers more than Kitana's at the moment, and I can't see her getting too much more.

Boon should really release the rest of that render. We've seen the leg, and should see the rest proper.

Explain why the developers can't experiment on this so called new red character for specials and such? Isn't that the main point of a new character? We see something new? Something that no other character has done yet?

You'd rather see this character have a completely different appearance rather than having her with new abilities? I'd take abilities over appearance any day for a new character.

I don't care if this girl looks the same thing as Kitana, Mileena or Jade I really don't. It's not like there's a complete difference in the clothes anyways. But when it comes to moves, I definitely want to see a change.

This girl could wield fire in a way that we've never seen before.

Be some kind of sorceress since I know they've wanted to do that kind of character before.

So if this is going to be a new character, then expect the team to actually toy around with this character. They've done so with their previous new characters, why would they suddenly stop and make this one completely unoriginal suddenly? I'm not going to play as a character that's already been designed for this game, just in a different body. No, that's not the point of making new characters.

@TheAdder - I'd like Lady in Red to be different by wearing a chain-mail outfit. Lady in Red is the only female ninja with a different coloured hair. @IceBabe It'd be nice if she had a magic sword. Kind of like Wonder Woman's Magic Lasso. The Magic Sword gathers energy depending on her rage. So some of her sword moves could be basic while others are more deep and enhanced because her rage level has just gone up.
