australia has a point... there was no violence on planet earth until violent videogames appeared. by banning violent videogames, australia continues its legacy of a violence-free country where no one has any fear of violent crimes against them. we all know if mk9 were allowed in australia, people would be uppercutting heads off, summoning ethereal tomahawks to throw into skulls, spewing acid down throats, throwing green energy nets to slice people up, and ripping hearts out through our backs. it is proven australian research census that this will happen. hats off to australia for doing the right thing and preventing all these fatalities from happening within their nation's borders.
Worse than shooting heroin into your eyeballs, playing Mortal Kombat will give you sudden onset pancreatic cancer and put you into a vegetative coma.
Clearly this is a terrorist weapon designed to harm our pets and children and must be confiscated by any means necessary.

^^^^ And I'm sad to say that made me lol even harder.
This really makes no sense. All these strict rules for A VIDEO GAME? Sonofabitch! I'm sorry Austrailia, America's government isn't great, but yours is just fucking ignorant. I really feel for you guys.
They act like it's a weapon of mass destruction or something. They need to focus more on smuggled drugs, money, and weapons instead of hitting someone with the law just for getting a simple fantasy video game.
And I actually thought America's government was stupid...

Hell their acting as if when you put MK into your system you will go into a wide-eyed trance and start chanting "Must perform fatality" and just go on a rampage throughout the streets.
They must, in fact, ban Pokemon. It has dangerous mental effects on children. See for yourself:

But no, they want to go after MK. Sheesh.

Am I the only one who thinks this came out of an episode of South Park? I feel bad for Aussies, sure, but this has gone into "so stupid it's funny" territory.

Shit, this is worse than I thought. I figured you would be able to at least have a copy of the game imported. And I thought our government sucked.

If shit like this happens here, I'm not going to be proud to be an American.

Mortal Kombat won't get banned here. The only thing it'll do if it gets to a potential AO rating is tone down a few things.
That's what happened to Manhunt 2. But since this game is fine where it's at, there's no chance that a game, created in Chicago, is going to get banned in America...

Yeah, that makes sense.
I'd just feel like a dirty old perv if I had to get something that's AO. lol

But... a game can be rated AO without depiction of sexuality in it.
You'll only feel like a perv if you buy the sex games that Atari owned... But if you get off on Atari's version of sex then you have a very vivid imagination.
For all it matters the game could have porno on it and vids of real life death.. What difference should it make? Is that not why they card those who look young when they buy the game? IM 22 and look young and i got carded when pre ordering.. Isnt this the fix all? I mean damn on this basis they should ban porn. Some places you walk into a video store selling pokemon 4 tapes and in the "back room" is a wall of sex. How is this any different for a game? Im sorry but this whole ban thing is so irritating to me and it doesnt even affect me!
Lastly why do they even card kids who try and buy cod games? JUST BAN IT. This is what the world is coming to? Someone needs to throw a ban hammer at modern day government... bastards

It's because of this...
Apparently, games have this thing where people imitate what they see and either hurt themselves in the process or hurt others. Some have killed people from what they've seen... I say that anyone who believes that video games is the number one reason why children and people are violent is retarded.
Jack Thompson, video games' number one villain, tends to think that games such as CoD, GTA and other shooter games are murder simulations that are preparing kids to start killing people because they imitate with what they see. This is what I call, "bad parenting." Parents can control what their kids play, but unfortunately they do not put restrictions on what games their children plays. If parents do not teach their kids that what they see is something they should not imitate, then games will not be fine for the kids. The idiot himself tried to sue Midway because in Armageddon, you can actually make him in the created character mode. Of course nothing happened when he tried suing. Shows what kind of a jackass this idiot is.
People claim that the Columbine massacre was due to Doom. NO IT WASN'T... The retards that did the crime just played the game and made a small reference that what they were doing "was just like in fucking Doom." Just because they were killing people and thought that what they were doing was like Doom, did not make these people kill all of those 15-ish kids. They had other issues they were dealing with, it was not the provocation of a video game.
I've been around video games since I was two. I have an older brother that's seven years older than me, he played video games and I watched. I never imitated anything to another human being. I knew what not to do.
This is one of the reasons why they make it such a big deal with people who tend to look young or who are young. What's funny is that you're twenty two, and I'm younger than you, I pre-ordered it and didn't get carded at all. And I get told I look like a fourteen year old at times.
Still, I think that it's stupid for this game to get banned. There were a lot more horrible games back in the past. Phantasmagoria has a freaking dry hump scene!!!
And DON'T get me started with Harvester... Eye ball popping babies, axe swinging chess masters and life preserving cannibal makers are just some of the stuff you witness in this game.
Believe me, there's a lot more gore and violence that we've grown up with. Games getting banned in countries... it's just pathetic that such a thing exists.
If anything, game stores should be a lot more strict with what they're selling out to kids. Banning is just stupid
