I still believe that if any game based in reality eg. any of the WW2 shooters etc are allowed in, then a game that is blatantly set in a fantasy world of magic and sorcery should be allowed aswell, regardless of things like fatalities (which are also exaggerated).

I don't understand their view on this statement at all. Introducing the rating would allow parents and retailers to make informed decisions. The MA15+ version of a edited game would include a very similar amount of violence, would it not?

Yeah, and that's why the system is broken. Games like gta4 and dead space 2 end up being MA15, although in other countries they would be R18. I don't think either of them got edited at all (with the exception of the camera sticking behind your car when you're with a hooker)

Besides,even if NRS decided to release a version with toned-down violence,how the hell is that worse than not releasing the game there at all? All the Aussies here who are now branded as criminals would disagree.

If they cut out bits to get a release in Australia, that wouldn't change the version the rest of the world got

I still think if you import it via EBay it will get through. Customs will probably be on alert for a large number of copies in one delivery. I doubt they will stop a one off copy which will go through the scanners and look like a movie under X-ray. If my copy gets confiscated, I gonna report this to my member of Parliament.

Their government is just really gay, they should stop smoking pot, and think about what really matters, how about some new laws, that forbid people to eat kangoeroes instead of this noncense, ah well i guess that means less lag for the rest of the world right? j/k :P

Seems like AUS is more hardcore on gaming ratings than I suppose others parts of world. If Schawrtzeneger (sorry for mispelling, I doubt I really even type his name much lol) realy wants to see strict laws for gaming he should just go to AUS (Not offending AUS players what so ever and sorry if I did)

I'm thinking of grabbing the game from the Ebay thread posted earlier in this forum. I'm thinking of making a thread dedicated for aussie MK fans to discuss and exchange information on where they're getting they're MK games from. I think there was already one so I'm hesitant to make another. I'd just like to know where Aussies are importing their MK from?

And also whether they are planning on importing around the time of official release date or are planing on waiting a few months so that "Security Alertness" dies down.

Also, I think if somone imported the game and got fined $100,000 for doing so. I think you'd find that if the prosecuted were to take this to court, they would not be fined even remotely close to this amount. A scare tactic.

I have imported 4 copies, 1 Tournament from amazon, 1 Tournament from eBay in Canada, 1 Kollectors from US and 1 standard from UK,

I'm afraid this ban may mean the end of Tortal Mortal Kombat, which I have been a part of for years.

Guys this is really important. Nobody can get fined!!!
The fine they are referring to fall under this Australian Customs Notice - ACN 2009/55 (just copy and paste it in google to read). A couple of things:
1. You can only get fined $110000 if you import 25 copies or more
2. You have to have the intent to sell, hire or display in a public for you to get any fine.
By definition there is no way anybody can get fined!!
Now I am not a lawyer, however I deal with contracts and things like this in my profession. So if there are any lawyers out there I would like their opinion. If am right, please do not go alerting GameSpot AU or anyone else as they would probably change the law to get us!
