I'm not usually one for the whole "this character should be in the game" type threads, but the humorist cynic in me would like to know which characters we still universally hate and would welcome their absence from this game (or the rest of the series) with open arms.

Though I'd also like to know WHY you don't want them to return. You can't just say "Stryker".

My wall of shame:
Stryker - because he's Stryker.

Hsu Hao - Boon already confirmed he won't ever be in another MK game. If that isn't an admission of guilt that he's as lame as you can possible get, i don't know what is.

Mokap - We get it, he's a joke and a reference to the motion capture artists. That doesn't make him funny though. Or useful.

Meat - How a story-less character skin became a genuine character in MK:A is beyond me.

Darrius - I just felt he didn't mesh with any part of the Mortal Kombat order. And he reminded me too much of Malcolm X.

Dairou - I was never fond of his design, story, or moves list. He just struck me as one of the ugliest character designs in recent memory, like he was a time-traveler from a different area that wound up fighting robots and demons.

Bo' Rai Cho - A barfing, farting drunk fat guy. Maybe he was just too juvenile to be effective, or maybe he just reminded me too much of my uncle Joey...

Jarek - He had Kano's laser eye.... but he didn't have laser eyes. And yet he did. But why? And how? And why bother even talking about this? He was terrible. Moving on.

Chameleon - Aka, "The Rainbow Ninja". Er, yeah, let's just not go into fruit of the loom territory, shall we?

Kobra - Just the way he looks makes me want to punch him. Maybe that was their intention. He still strikes me as a slightly more mentally handicapped version of Ken from Street Fighter.

Shujinko - So, this was the "next-generation" Liu Kang? God helps us all.

Taven - Besides always making me think of "tavern", and thus heavy drinking, he neither looked, acted, or played like he was special. Maybe because he wasn't. Unless you mean the other kind of "special" (see "Kobra" for more details).

Daegon - A scarred up, balding angry man with a goatee. Even if Kratos didn't have that look patented, he and his brother were both unwelcomed additions to a bloated cast.

Liu Kang - ha! A surprising entry, eh? Well, I still say one of the best things MK ever did was kill him off. And did the game suffer? Not one tiny little bit. Thus proving Liu Kang is not only unnecessary, but that he was an egotistical, spotlight-hogging jerk that kept Kung Lao from getting any glory, distracted Kitana from hooking up with sexier men closer to her own age (ooh Goro...), and also making me want turkey for dinner every damn time I fought him in the games (gobble, gobble). I'm all for a prolonged dirt nap while buried under six feet of cement.

So those are mine. Who are your unwanted characters?

I'm going to echo Crow's sentiment from the other thread that it's probably not appropriate to tamper with the trilogy roster, but there are definitely characters I want in and out.

Though I mostly agree your list Garlador, I do love Shujinko and Kobra. The former made a solid antagonist, and the latter was just hilarious if taken in the right light.

And Stryker? I think the everyday-man concept was excellent, just never rightly fulfilled. I can't even say it was poorly executed: there was no execution. They did nothing with Stryker.

Which makes this the perfect opportunity to finally expand on him and make him a staple character.

Legitimately bad:

Mokap - Unnecessary joke character.
Meat - See above
Tanya - Stale, generic villainess who sides with whoever the big bad guy is
Sheeva - Boring filler
Kira - Pointless addition
Kobra - See above
Kintaro - Extremely boring sub-boss with no storyline
Chameleon - Blob of ninja with no storyline
Hsu Hao - Grunt type filler villain, simply not interesting enough by himself

Stale and boring:

Sonya - Storyline never changes and I see little potential it ever will
Goro - Became a great character in MK4 and then ruined by MKD

Well with Raiden "knowing" what is going on, I'm HOPING he can keep some of the crappy characters from showing up or change some storyline to make some stuff a little different.

One SubZero not two...if Noob never happens then I guess he will never happen. Maybe the younger brother of SubZero can become a NEW character.

Cyrax or Smoke as human, just kinda wanna see what that would be like.

Jax could stay away, he always kinda annoyed me.

Most of the D lettered characters from MK
Dairou, Darrius, Drahmin. I never liked them.

I would like Raiden to know about Shujinko and go kill him NOW while he is a little punk or younger and not powerful. Get him out of the storyline all together.

Mokap (that one is easy)

Most all of the Black and Red Dragon people just irritate me.furious

I actually have faith that they would do Stryker right this time if he's in. After all the negative feedback, I'm sure they'll find a way. As for characters that should not be in the game: Mokap and Meat. And since they're going for a serious approach, I doubt they'll be in. And Hsu Hao I can do without, but I really wouldn't care if he was in (though there's a 99.9% chance we won't see him...ever again)

Stryker - Its Stryker....

Chameleon/Khameleon - I really don't think this is needed. Odds you will play the Ninja he gets his/her powers from.

Bo' Rai Cho - I understand hes kind of a joke char but really this is stuff kids laugh at and kids should not being play MK!

Kai - This guy for me just don't fit the bill. He looks like something from LOTR's.

Mavado - The red dragon clan crap is not needed and like Kai looks out of place.

Hsu Hao - Boon all ready killed this guy off lol.

Darrius - This guy just never made sense to me. His back story is, IMO, nothing and his ending in MKA turns him into a theif?!

Jarek - His story is pointless and so is he.

Daegon/Taven - on paper is sounds good but they really messed up on them, unless they rework them i say never again.

Mokap - Tho a good joke char he never be anything more.

Dairou - The over all look of this and his moveset never really did anything for me.

Dark Raiden - This was just really bad and dumb on their end, i hope they never make that mistake again.

Meat - I want him out the story 100%. They can keep him in the game as a hidden char, maybe even add him to MP.

Blaze - Even tho I look how he looks and I kind of like his back story he not needed at all.

Drahmin - really....flys as a weapon....REALLY?!?!

Kobra - Like what was said before. He looks a SF char who ended up in the wrong game, he was fun to kill tho.

Motaro - I never ever ever liked this guy. He just looks dumb his moves don't even match with what he is.

So, including the DLC character, MK2011 is going to have 27 characters, correct? Trilogy had 32. With a difference of 5. and assuming NStudios keeps true to the trilogy cast, I would remove...

1. Baraka
2.Sheeva
3.Stryker
4.Jade
5. Ermac...
simply for the lack of necessity. I would remove Ermac and Kabal from this list, I'm a fan of them, but they really don't have to be in the game for plot progression.

No, the DLC slot isn't a DLC Single Character, it's a DLC Characters Menu.

After reading this thread I'm really starting to think that with a lot of work, Stryker could be awesome. The only ones I want left out (and I know they will be) are the Order vs Chaos guys. That stuff was so stupid.
From the trilogy roster, I could do without Sheeva, Rain, Smoke, Jade, Liu, Jax

Definitely Keep Them Out:

Baraka - I always felt bored with him. His character, to me anyway, was always the generic henchman. There doesn't seem to be anything interesting about him...he doesn't even have a motive! I get that he's evil...but why?

Stryker - Because he's Stryker!

Kintaro - Again, he just seems bland to me. He's like Goro with tiger stripes substituted for personality.

Motaro - Something always bothered me about him; plus I seriously doubt they could successfully translate him into a quadraped.

Kai - He always just seemed bland to me. He had the potential to awesome, but unless they ruined him with Armageddon, by giving him a Spiked Klub and neglecting his hand-stand moves.

Kenshi - I can't explain this one. To me he just seems too cool. Come on, blind, carrying a katana, works for the Special Forces, allies Sub-Zero accidentally, and trained by Ermac? Am I the only one that sees that as defining Mary Sue qualities?

Mavado - He's bland, and he stole Kabal's hookswords.

Meat - Because he has no motivation and only the slimmest backstory.

Mokap - see Meat

Hsu Hao - Duh!

Frost - It never made sense how Sub-Zero couldn't tell she was a traitor before embarking on a mission with her. Not to mention, he let her live!? She has an awesome character design, but that aside, she's all too similar to Sub-Zero.

Blaze - see Meat and Mokap

Havik - He has a cool design, but boring moves, and a tacked-on backstory...I found pretty much everyone from ChaosRealm or OrderRealm very tacked-on actually (save for Dairou, who I thought had potential).

Hotaru - see Havik

Kobra - Stupid personality, boring motivation, and (essentially) a cross between Sonya and Johnny Cage. Unnecessary.

Kira - Stupid personality, boring motivation, and (essentially) a cross between Sonya and Kano. Unnecessary.

Darrius - see Havik, and Hotaru, and he's (essentially) a cross between Jax and Johnny Cage. Unnecessary.

Ashrah - The blandest female fighter out there. Not to mention, she's a goody-two-shoes!

Taven - I'd rather forget that Mortal Kombat: Armageddon ever happened.

Daegon - see Taven

Chameleon - no personality, no backstory (unlike Khameleon), and is essentially a cross between a whole bunch of characters that are probably going to be in the game anyway.

Onaga - He has no personality, boring moves, and makes no sense timeline-wise.

Shujinko - He has no original moves, and has a pathetic storyline. I can't stand him.

Getting Stale, Consider Leaving Out:

Raiden - I know this sounds weird, but I feel like I never get anything new from him. It's always the same moves. And his recent character changes didn't really appeal to me. The idea of him going "dark" sounds good on paper, but it wasn't pulled off correctly.

Shang Tsung - Unless you can perfect his transformations, he's just another character who throws fireballs. Not to mention his character design for MK v DCU really bothered me.

Liu Kang - Duh!

I'm Upset They're Already Confirmed:

Johnny Cage - I love you Johnny, but your story-line has run its course. Just die and stay dead.

Reptile - see Baraka.

On a Side Note:

Why all the Bo' Rai Cho hate? Okay, I get it, his moves are cartoony and stupid. However, I really want him back (with a move set that ignores his flatulence and vomit). Quite frankly, I think he has one of the more interesting backstories. He's a drunken master, for heaven's sakes, how much more iconic can you get? For some reason, he reminds me of Uncle Iroh from Avatar: the Last Airbender, one of the most bad-ass characters in that series, period.

Not interesting in design or story:

* Btw, am I the only one that likes Mavado? I think he could be a great character if his story was better. I like his design too.

Should NOT be in the game? Well...

Goro (He's stale and sub bosses are never fun to fight as)

Blaze (No need for him to return, big or small, he's a joke)

Sindel (purple leotard + scream special move + hair throw = can't stand her)

Sheeva (boring story and boring special moves make for boring character)

Cyrax (I can't stand the robots. Terrible inclusion in to a mystical series)

Sektor (same as Cyrax. He sucks a bit less, but he still sucks)

Motaro (worst sub boss in the series. Dumb concept and execution)

Nightwolf (mediocre design makes him look like a stereotype)

Robot Smoke (same as the other robots. Never been a fan of this idea)

Rain (Joke character with a terrible story in MKA, please don't try again.)

Jarek (MKA ruined what small shred of decency he had as a character)

Reiko (Dullsville. Never character about him, his moves or his story)

Tanya (Always seemed like a waste of a select screen spot. Just boring)

Meat (Another joke character that doesn't need to come back again)

Shinnok (Elder God or angry bell hop? Horrible design and execution)

Bo Rai Cho (Hated his moves and his story was rather boring)

Frost (Any move that could go to her could just be done by Sub Zero)

Moloch (A decent, albeit easy one off boss. No need to bring him back)

Mokap (Another joke character that doesn't need to return anymore)

Hsu Hao (He was a joke character, right? No? Wow...)

Shujinko (No original moves plus a story that makes you hate him. Gone)

Havik (Great look. HORRIBLE moves and an even worse story.)

Ashrah (Seems like a good one off character. Not very orignal moves.)

The Dragon King (He was the boss when he needed to be, that's it)

Dairou (What a butt ugly character concept. His moves were sorely lacking)

K/Chameleon (Whatever. Total indifference. No need for them at all)

Taven (One of the blandest character concepts I've ever seen in a game)

Daegon (Another bland concept. No need for him to come back ever again)

Absolutely no new character from MK4 onward with the exceptions of Quan Chi, Bo Rai Cho (who needs to be depicted as less of a joke), Kenshi, Havik, Hotaru (who both have intriguing possibilities I feel deserve developing) and maaaybe Shujinko ever needs to come back. The majority of them were less characters than they were caricatures.

And if I squint through the nostalgia, I can just barely make out the fact that both Reptile and Baraka basically serve the same purpose as glorified hitmen for Shao Kahn, general titles or otherwise. One or the other really need development. Preferably both, but I've always felt having the two around at the same time was unnecessary.

From what I heard is most of the characters in the game are gonna come from MK1-UMK3. So, its kinda safe 2 say that most of those won't be in. I acually added up the characters from that time frame and it comes out to about 28 characters. out of that small piece, I would just leave out the bosses and

Jade- Never understood why.. shes a terribly bland character.
Sonya- I never liked her. ever... Trash her please.

Thats about it from that time lol.

Liu Kang (had his run as a hero, now needs to get lost, plus the never-changing costume-and-moves syndrome (not only typical for Liu Kang) acutely bothers me)

Stryker (uninteresting policeman whose air of realism may have been interesting in MK3 but pretty much got worn out right there)

Shinnok (his origin adn storyline suggest I shouldn't hope for this, but I do. He is bland, lazy, poor-moved (the 'god' character with poorest moves, more precisely), and has to go. Hell, a stupid Quan Chi's machination was enough to have Shinnok defeated)

Reiko (pointless thug, still more irritating because of his both unexplained and never-advanced ambition (wants to replace Kahn, yeah, like I'm convinced you will))

Jarek (never should have replaced Kano)

Frost (a decent (though not all that rich) addition to the cryomancer class, but I'm rather doubtful that the rebellion thing will ever be further enacted)

Sheeva (just no. She is likely to be another Goro if she makes it, and we all agree it's unnecessary)

Shujinko (I'm one of the rare MK fans who actually likes him as a fresh new 'hero' character, but for goodness sake, do something about his moves and allegiance... and intelligence, above all)

Baraka (another stupid not-caring-about-cause thug for yet another time)

Kintaro (see Crow's explanation)

Motaro (an imposing and fun to use, yet perhaps the most unoriginal sub-boss with a powerless and unnecessary "hatred" for Shokans (Sheeva owned him? What the hell would Goro or Kintaro do to him then?))

My list for now.

Any New character from MK4-MKA. Exxcept for Kenshi. The rest are either alright or god awful. As for Stryker. I don't really like him, because there is no way a normal guy could get shot, stabbed, burned, and slashed and continue to fight. The other warriors have powers, which I like to believe gives them and incredible amount of resistance and endurance.

Stryker should return. Despite the dislikes he gets. He was originally part of the MK3 Cast.

People who shouldn't return:

- Moloch
- Onaga
- Meat
- Blaze
- Kira
- Shujinko
- Daegon

That's it really. Though these votes are for not wanting them back. I still respect each of them in their own individual way.
