Me again, Was just wondering how come Motaro hasn't appeared in this game but only a few cameos in the story mode, Just wonder because I think there able to do it if they wanted to, I mean you have the sub-bosses from the first 2 games so why not addes the third one since your basing it off the first 3, I'm I right?

They've said it had to do with his body style and how it would work with x-rays and such. Maybe now that the game has done well, they have some time to chill and might be able to figure out how to make him work with everything/everyone already in the game.

Oh, I just figure since it was 2.5d it's the same as 2d and he was in those so why not just incorperate those moves into this but now I can understand with x-rays, Even though I still can come upe with one for him easily but I guess.

There's more to his programming than just removing stuff, I would assume. It would take some work to have him in a game like this.

You know what I want? I want a DLC package to come out in the later months entitled "Timesmashers". It'll be wonderful. Johnny wanders around Earthrealm during the MK3 invasion. He comes across Motaro. Threats are exchanged and a classic arcade fight begins. Johnny gets the better of him of course but unfortunately Motaro is still standing. The story can then pick up from here where Raiden teleports over and...*sigh* "johnnyboughtacars Motaro to Centaur heaven." It's perfectly seamless. No muss. No fuss. Make it happen NRS!

They could at least made Motaro design for Shang Tsung's first fatality ( like his Kintaro fatality in Mk2) instead of this horrible clown that make no sense!

Why not just replace Shao Kahn as the final boss while we're at it? That would make him way too overpowered.

I'd like to see Smoke attempt his german suplex x-ray on Motaro.

you know when you teleport and the opponent is blocking, so they automatically spin around to block your teleport? yes?

now picture that but the person suddenly spinning around quicker than any teleport in the game is a 4 legged horse-man.

picturing it?

then you know why motaro in a fighting game is a dumb idea. and yes, it was dumb in mk3 too.

Motaro could be in the game if people tolerated the 2 leg version of him... but that did not go over well. I personally do not care if he has 2, 4 or 6 legs. I actually like his upper body design in the game, too bad it went to waste.

Just make a single new X-Ray move that's designed to work on Motaro and have it replace your character's normal one when you fight him.

So simple. NRS is just lazy.

"now picture that but the person suddenly spinning around quicker than any teleport in the game is a 4 legged horse-man. "

Make his turning animation look like he's teleporting from one position to the other, similar to Smoke's victory pose. Again, simple.

Not to mention that nobody had a problem with his turning ability in MK3.

Motaro in UMK3

You know, I've watched that entire clip and I can not for the life of me figure out why this wasn't done in MK9. I really wouldn't have minded Motaro being immune to X-rays. He's already immune to throws and projectiles anyway. sad

Exactly ! NRS need to innovate IE: when enemy is behind Motaro, he could use his tail to slam them back flying backwards so that Motaro is the only one that can teleport behind you.

I wish that Motaro was in MK9 because of the awesomeness that he was in MK3. I remember the first time I got to him in the arcade, the volume was turned up extremely loud and my heart was racing after he handed me my ass.

I understand the technical limitations for his character design, but I agree with another poster that instead of turning to block teleports, he simply could have teleported away, or since he is so massive he could have faced the opposite direction and still blocked the attack.

Oh well, no chance of it happening now.

This thread AGAIN? Seems like there's a new "why no motaro boohoo" thread every day.

Also why are people blaming NRS for being lazy to not add Motaro? The programmers at NRS are the professionals. Not every weeaboo on this forum. If they tell you it would be nearly impossible to add such a character to this game at this point, it probably is that way.
If they would just be lazy they wouldn't have made such a kickass game and included masses of fan-feedback adding loads of stuff fans asked for.
And they did at least add Motaro as an NPC in storymode probably cuz they knew fans would like that.
Besides, they couldn't even add Motaro to MKA (in his original form) and they made 3 games using that engine.
Just thinking of something that might work in your own logic doesn't make something like this an easily solved problem. Cuz the game wasn't made in your own logic.
And if you truly believe you could've programmed Motaro yourself. Apply for a job at NRS and stop trying to sound like you're better than professionals on some internet-forum.

Also this doesn't mean they will never add a centaur to any future MK games. MKDA didn't have Scorpion's teleport move cuz they couldn't figure that out back then.
Then in MKD Scorpion has his teleport move back.
Programmers also learn stuff while creating a new game or new content. Even when they've worked on something similair before.

Motaro isn't in this game.
Just get over it and enjoy the game for what it is. Which to me is one of the best fighting games ever made. Even without Motaro in it.

Okay, I'm done ranting again.

"The programmers at NRS are the professionals."

If you think people who make videogames are magically immune to slacking, that's just precious. Thanks for the laugh.

I don't mind Motaro's exclusion, the bosses we have are plenty tough enough as it is.

Motaro could have simply been immune to X-rays if that would have been the real problem.

They don't need to make him immune to projectiles again, if that would also have been a problem.

I'm sure it had more to do with the amount of time and work a character like him would had required in order to be perfectly animated and executed.

Hopefully he'll be made available as DLC.

I'm seriously surprised he is not in as a hidden Fatality though...or that his appearances in the game where more like cameos than actual real appearances. He should have gotten some more spotlight even if he wasn't going to be a fight in storymode.

Too bad.

I didn't say that. I said the programmers at NRS know better than some weeaboos on the internet who just blame the programmers cuz they can't handle the fact that one of their favorite characters coudn't be included at the time

Motaro was omitted for the same reason the game's present bosses were relgated to one-move spamming CPU spaz status -- to keep the game a cookie cutter spam fest just as the QQing leaderboard fawning scrubs wanted.

The game is designed to sell; as such its gore is over-emphesized and its fun factor down-played / neglected. Hence you have a boring-as-bat-shit roster of grunt clones and the only unique chracters, the bosses, relegated or outright disgarded.

MK2011 was always destined to fail in this respect in light of the community it attracts. The game has failed x2 because of how utterly atrocious the online component has turned out -- effectively rendering all the sacrifices it made for sake of this aspect of the game in utter vain.

I wonder if there would be an update, where if you add Motaro in-game by addon or something, the update would probalby enable like seperate Xray moves for each characters?

Ex; Liu Kang-would execute Xray, and you see him him do like a Fire fist and Smack Motaro in the chest, then proceeds with a flying Round house kick to Motaro's face.

Scorpion- Execute Xray, Scorpion would shoot his Spear at Motaro's Face and pull him down to the floor, smashing his face (and impalement from spear would do some damage as well) and when Motaro is grounded, Scorpion runs in, and dooes that scissor slide move and snap Motaro's neck

or alternatively; Scorpion does a Fire Back-kick move to Motaro's face, then does a 2x spear (like the enhanced Spear move) on Mot.'s front legs and "break" them as he pulls and then Scorpion does like a Head Snap (kind ofl ike his primary fatality in MKD)

As cool as they could possibly make it, im sure we're talking like a 300mb update or something to make new Xray's custom for each character to be compatible on Motaro.

Probalby CAN be done, but it's just matter if they want to or so glasses
