A website has interview footage of Ed Boon saying this. I won't give the address, but the site is called Mortal Kombat Guides. Here's what he has to say about MK7 -
"We're actually very excited about the next Mortal Kombat fighting game that we're doing. Like before, we're introducing, you know, two or three very huge elements to the fighting game that haven't been done before, so we're really excited about that. I think you can expect to see the biggest roster also of Mortal Kombat characters ever in this fighter as well."

I just hope they dont choose quantity over quality in mk7. That would be a horrible mistake.

Yeah, me too.
I think it would be cool to have a ton of characters, but I think that the developers would run of special attacks (Kenshi/Ermac) or just run out of enough different types of fighting styles for each character.

I think the next MK game should be called MK unlimited, and should have no less than 40 characters!

I agree 100%. Deception had alot of quantity and not enough quality.

I hope this is true..kinda.
I just had a thought, instead of three fighting styles, they will have four, and your fourth will be your animal style, you will morph into a creature, and underneath your health guadge you will have a power guadge that depletes the longer you stay in morph, but refills after you deplete it completely. just a thought..it kinda hit me when i was playing decpetion.

I hope they get rid of dial-a-combos and make the animation smoother. MK:DA and MK:D had very choppy animation. And the combo breaker really needs to be expanded upon. Maybe it could be a parry that gives you a free hit, sort of like the Alpha Counters in the Street Fighter Alpha series. Maybe the animation could be different for each character, like Scorpion could parry into the teleport punch, and Sub-Zero could parry into the cold shoulder or the freeze blast. Also, there needs to be some kind of ground system. In MK:D (and DA I think), you could roll from side to side on the ground, but you couldn't roll forwards or backwards. You should be able to roll backwards to give yourself some breathing room, or roll forward into a rising attack. You should also be able to attack your opponent if s/he is on the ground.
Other than all those changes to the gameplay system, I hope it has a decent-sized cast of characters and a compelling storyline.

That would be the most ridiculous thing they could do, we might as well go play Bloody Roar.
As for the news it think its great, but personally i would rather see an improvment on the fighting engine rather than a ton of characters. Personally i think they should trash the three fighting styles and go with two styles per character. A hand to hand and a weapon style. Make them in depth and make them fit each character. Thats one of the problems i had with DA and Deception, some styles didnt seem to fit the character it was given to.

MK7 should NOT be anything like Tekken or Vf either, it's MK not Tekken or VF.

So your saying the fighting engine should not be of quality.
Im just kidding thats my opinion. I do like Tekken and VF, but i also agree that MK shouldent turn into them, i do think that they should take some tips from there fighting engines, but still keep it with an MK style. And i know some people dont agree and that fine, but DA and Deception had the worst engine ive ever seen.
